Hi!! It's about 1:30 am on the westcoast and I can't sleep so I'm going to make an "intro post"..

I'm a single mom who is about to hit my mid twenties. I've been spying on the "raw lifestyle" since the summer (July 2010-ish). It seemed so unattainable and deceivingly tooo healthy. Regardless, I loved (and still do of course) the idea of it and tried jumping into it and was FAMISHED because I didn't know how to feed myself outside of salads, nuts and veggies (and fruits). I LOVE to eat - this way of eating was simply snacking to me.

My "only" bodily shame is the cloak of relentless eczema which I seem to proudly wear as an "addict" of the Standard American Diet. Anyway, I'm tired of wearing long sleeves and pants 365 days a year because of the rashes. I'm tired of being tired, moody and depressed. I thought I needed "the right" tools to be motivated and get started...an excalibur dehydrator...a vitamix...a champion juicer...a new set of knives...etc..But the most important thing necessary is the motivation within to act on what you already know and not rely first and foremost on external things to get started.

Soooooo with that said..I am happy to say that after about 5 years of bitching about my skin, I am mentally ready and humbly equipped with an old school blender and an old school juicer. My knives chop produce adequately. In time and if this raw passion persists, I will invest in more toys......

In the past two days, I've been juicing and making raw foods that fill me up. I'm not 100% raw but what I do eat and drink raw.. I LOVE IT! In the non-internetz world, I'm being a tad anti-social right now but I'm the type to give in to (foodly) peer pressure soo if you see me a lot on the boards you'll know why lol. I really need to be a hermit for a bit to pursue this and get some solid grounding because when I go out, 90% of the time there is food involved that I both can't resist and is not good for my skin.

As for the title of this thread..today being the second day of incorporating a lot of wonderful rawness in the form of juice, a smoothie, a salad, a raw Alfredo dressing, a raw cheese dip and plain veggies, nuts, and fruits in between..I am already and absolutely EUPHORIC both in my progress and overall (SUPER STABLE) mood. :excited:

I've been giggling all day and things that usually annoy me (ie my kid:p) make me laugh. Hopefully this is actually THE RAWNESS and isn't a placebo effect or the usual burst of giddiness and excitement I get upon starting something new.

Anyway..I'm going to try to go to sleep now....so uh yeah.....thanks for reading all that if u did.... lol.....I look forward to reading more on here both about you members and of course everything pertaining to this high inducing lifestyle lol.

:heart

Hi evening. I am also improving my diet to get rid of my eczema (as well as other things). Diet really does make such a difference. When I was a pre-teen, I nearly beat it, but after a while I fell back into the SAD lifestyle. Since you are only partially raw (as am I), I would encourage you to be careful what your non-raw additions are. White flour- esp. wheat, dairy, and processed sugar will make it hard to kick the eczema to the curb.

Thank you for your warm welcomes.. :heart:I've been slipping major some days and other days I'm like at full force. And Sienna, I hear you...err..I just ate half a loaf of bread the other day...... white bread...with eczema, I'm fully aware of those SAD triggers.. wheat, sugar, dairy, etc...*sigh* anyway. I am slowly chipping off the layers of addiction. It's like a 1 step forward 2 step back fight sometimes but yeah. Work in progress right!!

Ladies with eczema -- raw is AWESOME for this -- but I just want to throw out oil pulling if you haven't tried it yet. Here is how to do it and some info (http://uncooking101.com/site/article/one-persons-experience-with-oil-pulling/) and here is a great thread here on RFT (http://rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=29691) where you will read a multitude of positive experiences from others here who have tried it. It helps specifically with skin.

evening I just want to point out to you that you are doing a GREAT job! We all ARE works in progress! It's a part of life, so we may as well enjoy every little step of it!
