Hi Veggies!
I need some advice... I have been drinking green smoothies for about three weeks now and have noticed an increased amount of energy throughout the day and feel great! However i was at the health food store today and i was talking to one of the people who worked there (who seems to be very knowledgeable about a lot of stuff regarding health). he said that I was going to make myself FATTER by drinking them... something about this is "not the way people consumed their food hundreds of years ago and was just a ploy by people who sell the machines and the books" to get people to drink them. I feel like there is NO WAY i would ever be able to "eat" that many veggies in a day...and that its a great way to get vitamins the natural way....am i wrong?

I basically use water, kale , spinach, half an apple, and a handful of mixed organic berries with maybe a tablespoon of ev coconut oil... i mean i dont think there is anything in there that would make me gain weight... but im so confused and quite frankly i dont know what to think...

please let me know your thoughts on this... and maybe some other recipes for green smoothies that people enjoy!

If people are just adding green smoothies to their diet without making other changes, they could possibly gain weight because they are adding more calories. However, if you are like me and use them to replace one meal or one snack, it's just a yummy way to get your fruits and veggies! I definitely feel more full after my smoothie breakfast than I used to after a bowl of cereal or oatmeal.

My go-to smoothie base is greens and bananas. I sometimes drink it like that or I add berries or other fruit to it.

Check out Philip McCluskey and Clent Manich. If I remember correctly, it was Clent who eliminated 200 pounds in 1 year drinking smoozies. It took Philip 2 years to eliminate the same amount ~ eating raw.

I've interviewed both on my Rawkin' Radio show.

My smoothie is banana, blueberries, strawberries, kale, collards and spinich. Does anyone see anything fattening there or too much of anything? I can adjust. thanks

What I see is, you don't have any fats in there. Fats assist in assimilating fat soluble vitamins. Maybe you're getting fats somewhere else? Oh, I see in the op that you're adding coconut oil Good on ya!

It works for me. I usually have an avocado in my salad at night.

thats because I have a kleen canteen full of green smoothie in my pants side cargo pocket......I kill me :LOL:I'll be here all week btw.

Cinnamon flavored flax oil is nice in a smoothie too. A small handful of almonds, if I'm not mistaken, can add a sufficient amount of fat as well.

Check out Yuri Elkaim on youtube for a good green smoothie recipe also.

you won't make yourself fatter with smoothies. you CAN make yourself fat with juice if your juices are sweet.

what i do is i juice vegetables, pour the juice into the blender and blend it with fruits and supplements.

As long as a smoothie is replacing a meal and not consumed on top of a meal then it's not likely to lead to weight gain. Also his reasoning is garbage, I mean is anything he sells in his store in the form it was 100's of years ago.
