I would like to add more coconut oil into my diet. Right now I'm adding a small amount of coconut butter into my smoothies and everything is great. However, in the past when I used coconut oil in my smoothies, it acted like a laxative :backsout:
I'd really like to benfit from coconut oil.....do you think my body can adjust to the oil? Or is my body always going to have an embarrassing reaction?
Thanks for any help!

you could try 'oil pulling' with it...that's where you basically swish it around in your mouth for 5-10 minutes. Apparently it whitens your teeth too. The concept is that you are pulling toxins out of your blood sublingually, but I think you are actually absorbing oil sublingually.
...either way, you could experiment with that, being that it bypasses your digestive tract!

I had been adding coconut oil to my smoothies too and it did the same thing. How much are you using?

I started slowly by adding a teaspoon per smoothie. If I remember correctly, I got up to about 2 teaspoons per smoothie.
Maybe my body was just getting used to smoothies? I don't know. But when I took out the coconut oil, I didn't have the laxative reaction.
Now that my body is more used to the smoothies I'll try again - that way I'll know for sure if it's the coconut oil.

and some times if we add less and work out way up slower our body doesn't have the same reaction.

Maybe also experiment with small amounts of other good quality oils. For example, six years ago I utilized primrose oil, along with seaweed, to dissolve ten years of fibrocystic breast lumps.

Aw, I add 2 to 3 tablespoons of coconut oil a day and it doesn't give me the poopies.
