Hey everyone, I am new here and I know this question has been asked a buncha times, but I am curious!
I was 100% raw for a year and a half, now I gravitate towards about 90% raw. I am wondering, how many people here are strict 100% from this point on, who is 100% right now, but open to cooked food every now and then, and who eats mostly raw, with a bit of cooked food here and there where it is convenient (still healthy, still vegan).
I would say I am 100% somedays, then some days I have a bit of cooked starches/other stuff at dinner time. So what about you?

"100% right now, but open to cooked food every now and then"

This is me. I am 100% most days, but have eaten cooked food and I don't think it's a sin or anything. I might have a taste of a dish for a social celebration or event. The point is I prefer Raw for my "daily bread" so to speak. The food is lovely and delicious and wouldn't stop eating this way for anything.

The more I learn about eating raw foods and living a raw lifestyle, the more exciting this journey.

I aspire to be 100%. However, mostly because of social reasons and my lack of will power, I am usually around 75% raw, I have gone 4-5 days at a time at 100% multiple times over the past year. When I eat cooked, I always keep it at least vegetarian and try to stay vegan as much as possible. I've been vegetarian for 16 years now so that's no problem at all. Vegan is usually only an issue around family which cooks cheese/milk/eggs into meals. If there is an option to avoid without offending anyone, I avoid.

I take food with me everywhere I go. I have an insulated cooler I take with me in my car filled with Raw goodies. I take it to work every single day. It's rare that I don't.

I make pates, crudites, and pack grape tomatoes, nuts, and an avocado or marinated greens; you name it, and put in an ice pack to keep things fresh.

Even when traveling for business, I ship a box of Raw staples (case of purified water, nuts, dry fruit, avocados, Kale chips, oil, sea salt, jar of olives, etc.) to my destination.

It helps me stay Raw when confronted with an environment that isn't Raw friendly It's actually a lot of fun for me.

I aim for 100% & have for 2 years now. There always seems to be small stuff that probably isn't technically raw. Herbs & spices dried above 110 and stuff like that. I don't eat any cooked dishes though. I have heard that people do gravitate to adding some cooked back in after being 100% for a long time.

I'm all for people doing what works for them.

DebB ~ what was your deciding factor for adding some cooked back in?

My system feels more stabile with small amounts of cooked starch added to salads: beans, yams, grains. My body is intolerant of a high fat raw diet.

100% raw for over two years now. It's been a gradual journey, with being high raw for 4 years before that.

I took it easy, made gradual changes and as a consequence, did not have the problems many encounter with fast, significant changes. :)

I have just recently started my raw journey about 2 months ago. I always wake up in the morning with the goal of being 100% and usually make it somewhere between 75 to 95% raw. But I am still learning what is truly raw and what is not. I didn't know rolled oats were not raw and put it in my "raw" granola. So things like that I am still navigating through.

JohnLemire I couldn't help but notice that your location is the panhandle of FL, me too!! I went to school UWF. Small world :)

I'm 100% raw, unless I spend too much time in the sun. Then I get a little cooked.

Alright you guys rock!!! It is nice to see a variety of answers, that is for sure. I do aspire to be 100% but often times it just happens that I need more calories at the end of the day and don't want to eat fruit after my salad so I go for potatoes or beans. I could prolly go 100% pretty easy if I had a community of people around me and better, more varied fruit selection.

It seems like the main feeling here is go with what works for you, which I love.

@bananaberrie: Yeah I am contemplanting moving to south Florida for the fruit n fun. I love our beaches though so it will be tough to leave. Great to hear that you're from the panhandle, im near Destin.

You're near Destin!! Get out! Me too!! Lived here my whole life...LOVE IT! Hey if you are having trouble finding organic produce I am part of a great organic produce co-op. Meets every other week just outside of BWB. Great people, great price....let me know and I can pass on the info.

Nice to know there is someone else in my area.

Oh and yes our beaches do rock, but I'm just unsure about how much I'll be going this summer due to the spill and dispersant. I have kiddos to think about :(

I'm a raw- till -dinner kind of peep, where I do 'indulge' consciously, on cooked. I eat raw untill sup sup with the family. I don't like 'percentages' and all that stuff. I think it can make you a little OCD. Do what your body is telling you and what you are drawn to and don't stress or freak out. It's all a process and we are all on our own journey's.

Does anyone here find a big difference in how they felt from 100% raw to even 90% ??

May I ask why you say your body is intolerant to a high fat raw diet? Just curious!

I've been varying percentages of raw since February of 2007. Most of the time I have been a RAWmnivore, eating raw honey, raw cheese, kefir, sashimi (raw fish), and very good quality yogurt.

As of March 23rd of this year I have been 100% raw, and given up all dairy, and honey. I had my last raw fish dish (Cheviche - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ceviche) yesterday evening, which was the only raw meat I'd had since the 23rd of March, and now am eating only vegan sources of food. I intend for this to be a life-long alteration. I know my body thrives on a raw, vegan diet, and so that is the way I shall feed it. I have already had this discussion with my fiancee (who I am to marry in June), and he has agreed to refrain from trying to talk or coax me out of the decision. It's so nice to be with someone who respects that choice even if he doesn't choose it for himself.

If anyone's interested, I've started a series of videos on youtube talking about natural health and raw foodism/veganism. There are only a few videos up so far, but I plan to crank out 1-2 a week. http://www.youtube.com/rawholistica

HUGE differences. Even short-term, I noticed a difference. I had been 100% raw for 3 months. I decided to experiment by making 1 cooked snack and 1 cooked meal per day, and in just 1 week I had gained back 10 pounds and felt awful. 100% is the way to go.

Hi everyone,

I'm just starting out at being raw -- almost 4 weeks old. I'm all raw, but not quite a raw vegan. Like holistica used to, I incorporate fish here and there.

I don't know why I do it. It's not that I crave fish. I just have some.

My goal is to be a 100% raw vegan.
