Welcome welcome welcome!!! :excited:

Welcome to the 30 day challenge. :eat and welcome to our new monthly format.

We have one thread per month (I may split it into two if it gets too long) so we can create a community of support within this challenge. You can join this thread at any time during the month. Don't be shy... we love new posters!!! So if you want to join us... please do!

I welcome people who are already 100% raw to join in the conversation - supporting our challengers in their quest! :cheer:

This thread is specifically for those of you who are eager to commit to a month of eating 100% raw foods and seeing miraculous results!

I will start a new challenge thread on the first of every month. If I forget... send me a quick email and remind me... I'll get the challenge thread online for you quickly.

The focus of the monthly challenge is on staying raw and accountability. Therefore, if you have eaten all raw and then slip up and have something cooked, don't beat yourself up over it or dwell on it - but this is not space to discuss it. You are more than welcome to document it in your journal/blog or ask for help in the discussion area, but it is not necessary (and not allowed) to discuss your slip-up here in the challenge threads, just get right back on track and keep going! This thread is about celebrating what you are eating that IS raw!

I welcome you all to share pics of your dishes, ask questions, share what you are consuming (as long as it's raw). We are here to listen to your emotional and physical challenges. So share share share!!! :hug

OH and the best part of this (not only the support but...) you can subscribe to this thread and get notified every time someone posts to it. This way you will be connected!

So let's get this party started!!!

Hi March !

Dime, if you have a dehydrator and a mandolin you could make potato chips.

Breakfast was my favorite GS - collard greens, blueberries, oj, shredded coconut, hemp and chia seeds, lucuma, maca and probiotics.

Lunch is flax seeds (came out a bit dry - but still love them) avocado and apple with tahini dressing.

Dinner - I will be munching on the kale chips and sweet potato chips and cinnamon raisin flax crackers I made with a carob hemp shake.

kiwi and blueberries,sredded coconut, agave.
coconut butter on a spoon.

Welcome all newbies - it's alot of fun on this site !

I may also be doing a smoothie feast in March --we'll see! But raw it is for me!!

I_am_there
02-28-2011, 08:52 PM
Continuing my smoothie feast here with everyone. I marked my first week on Sunday and I'm down 7.6lbs! Yay! The smoothie feast has been WAY easier WAYWAYWAY easier foodwise than I would have guessed. I still deal with emotional triggers but am learning to get through it. It's truly an addiction and I have a renewed sense of awe for those able to break alcohol/drug addictions, because this one is hard enough.

I am 100% off of caffeine as well and today I was up from 6am til now (almost 10pm) with NO stopping. I felt almost *hyper*, but I really think what I'm feeling is *normal* instead of my usual tired.

So all green smoothies for me, my f(e)ast continues through March and I'll regroup in April to see what my plans will be.

Goal for March: Stick true to my 6 week GS plan AND get out of the 200s forever.

P.S. CHANGEISGOOD -- your pics are fantastic!! Well done!!!

Ultimate goal is Peace of Mind/stillness/ elevation to a higher self.

My gift to myself the 1st 15 days successful at the above goals is a glass straw and carrying case.

I already orderd my 9 tray Dehydrator. It's estimated arrival date is the 3rd of March. Can not wait.

My daughter and I were raw for 15 months and lost an awesome amount of weight. I was almost to my goal . . .

Then, I had an unexpected, late life pregnancy and when the 2nd trimester hit, I wimped out and started eating cooked food. As I ate my first bowl of cooked food in 15 months I cried into because I knew it was not the best for me, but I was stressed, overworked and hungry.

Now my daughter is 2 years old. Of the 120 pounds that I lost in the 15 months, I've gained back 80 of them. Pound by pound I've been adding on instead of taking off since she was born.

So now, five years from 50 when I will be the mom of an energetic 7 year old and a 12 year old, I have to get things under control. So, I'm in the challenge - March 1 will be raw day 3. I love my energy when I'm raw and I have a health condition now that requires that I lose weight before it can be addressed.

Thus, many motivating factors. This just has to work for me. Continuing to gain weight is not an option. This will work for me!!

Tomorrow we start the month with a smoothie, some grapes and plums for lunch (did I say 'some grapes', more like 2 pounds) and a LARGE winning salad for supper - perhaps then another smoothie. Who knows - the sky's the limit!!

GoneRaw

I'll start with a green lemonade (juiced kale, lemon, fuji apples, lettuce and ginger). I will have a green smoothie for my second meal (kale, pineapple, green apple juice, mango, strawberries and a little bit of agave').

Go March Challengers!!!!!!

Hi everyone!:throwhearts:

One of the biggest challenges I face when raw is making sure I eat enough, otherwise I find myself so hungry and unprepared and making poor choices. So....that's my plan this month...eat a lot of raw food and a wide variety to keep myself on an even keel. Food plan for today-

B-Smoothie w/almond milk, cacao, carob, maca, goji berries, hemp seed, chia gel, flax meal, frozen bananas and medjool dates...made 1 qt.

L-Salad w/spring mix, spinach, strawberries, red onion, glazed raw nuts, clementines and rasp/walnut vinaigrette

S-green grapes, kale, lime smoothie

D-Salad w/ dark greens, tomato, cucumber, carrot, zucchini, avocado, sunflower seeds, dulse & italian vinaigrette

Eating a rainbow everyday!!!:talljuice:

Morning Everyone!!

Today is March 1st!!

Nice pics Change!!! I'm so glad you got them up :heart

Today is Day 33 Raw for me & I know that the Feb. 30 Day Challenge really helped it get to this #.......

Today I had my cup of tea & then made my normal "kitchen sink smoothie"......

Here's a pic of the dry mixes I make at the beginning of the week to just dump in the blender....

http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/ll105/monkapotapus/Smoothiemixes001.jpg

They consist of:
Hemp protein powder, MSM, Maca, Raw Cacao Powder, Fo-Ti, Vietnamese Cinnamon, Alfalfa powder, Wheatgrass powder, Ashwagandha, Astragalus, Chia seeds and Perfect Food Berry Powder....

When I make them I add 1 1/2 cups water, 2 bananas, a squirt of agave & a spoonful of Raw cashew butter.....then another spoonful of cashew butter goes in my mouth.....lol..........I also add some trace mineral drops called "Cell Energy"...just 7 drops....

So, that's my normal morning "smoothie".....it doesn't taste super awesome, or anything, but it gets in pretty much everything with one shot!! lol :woohoo:

I'm not sure what the rest of the day will consist of, but I have some mangoes that need eating....

Happy Day 1 To YOU!!!!

IM IN!!! :excited:

I Am there:
congradulations on the being 100% off caffiene. This is one I still struggle with. I am weaned off cofffee and have been for sometime, but still have 2 cups of mate tea per day.

Glimr:
I hear what you are saying about not being prepared and getting too hungry. This too has caused me to hit a couple of speed bumps on my quest to be 100%. Inspite of the speed bumps, I still lost 6 lbs last month

Today breakfast is going to be 3 large grapefruit. I brought some soaked almonds with me to work in case I get extra hungry. Lunch will be 5 large oranges and more nuts if still hungry after the oranges. Dinner is kinda up in the air as I am going to a Raw Food workshop at after work and it is about an hour drive away......so if constricted by time, I will eat bananas in route.

Good luck everybody and will see ya on the Rawfood Highway.. :goodday:

Hey Everyone!
Day 1 All Raw for me too! (although like many of you, I have been raw many times before) ...this is actually my New Year's resolution showing up 2 months late.

My plan is basically just to eat raw, no rules past that....but all raw.

So far I've had an apple and my Banana Pie Toss.

Assuming you want to know what that is, lol...

1-2 bananas, sliced, some syrup (maple, agave, honey) drizzled on top, some shredded coconut, small handful of pecans, cinnamon.

Sometimes, I like to start the day off with dessert?

I have a few nice recipe plans, but not sure if I have everything and I'm super busy today and tomorrow writing 20'ish essay pages by midnight tomorrow. BOOOO!

K, ...off to write page one. Happy raw travels today everyone and thank-you Monk for inviting me over here ♥

2 pm --- Huge bowl of alfalfa sprouts w. guacamole
4 pm --- Smoothie (hempseeds, berries, a banana)
7 pm --- Smoothie (hempseeds, berries, a banana)
9 pm --- Green juice

On a sidenote: All these smileys are the most energetic ones I've seen - pure raw vibrancy!

Hi all,

this AM had a delicioous smoothie - super duper size - first juiced with hubby, apple, pear, kiwi, lemon, giner. The put mine in blender with the pulp, and usual maca, hemp, and everything else. I was floating away after 36+oz. But it sure was good!

had my AM flax seeds - the cinn ones are perfect for my sweet tooth.

lunch will be an aavocaado salad - simple since not much time.
dinner will be a GS with dandelion, collard greens, strawberries, shredded coconut.
a spoonful of coconut butter.
probably an apple later in evening

I found coconut flour - very excited - now I can make pie crusts and join the rest of you who use nuts/seeds.

Young coconuts no where to be found - due to weather conditions in Mexico and Thailand. So I found frozen coconut water to use.

I've heard that bananas and young coconuts maybe going extinct. Bananas due to some infestations? not sure of the whole story and which countries.

MONK - the name is Living Sunshine" - can't remember the wholesellers name.

I Just Wanted TO LET YOU KNOW ABOUT - Eaaglecam.com - itt's great for children to follow and all aages. Amazing to watch. Andie

This is what I had on day 1:

- banana and parsley smoothie

- tomatos, cucumber, green and black olives (homemade) salad

- carrot juice

- rose hip tea

- zucchini chips (the equal of 2 medium-sized zucchini)

- some raw pumpkin

- some raw avocado choco ice-cream

It's not much to eat, I follow GlimR's thoughts that one should eat well on a raw diet, I actually planned to eat one more salad with the onion crackers I prepared but have been in great pains from my sore kidneys and lost most of my appetite... My kidneys have been hurting a lot the past few days, never had problems with them before so not sure what's wrong, I guess the bad weather got them... I will do the watermelon kidney cleanse as soon as the watermelon season arrives but for the time being just drinking rose hip tea which I read does them good, as well as parsley juice... Or perhaps someone here has a better idea? :kisses:

So there was a slight change for dinner. After working all day refinishing we decided to eat out at Tiny Thai. I had a papaya salad and a mixed salad with a ginger dressing. Still raw after at the end of day one. Feel so good!
So to recap:
Breakfast: GS with spinach, spring salad, banana, hemp protein, wheatgrass, rejuvelac, strawberries, soaked walnuts.
Lunch: raw muesli with banana, dried cherries, dried blueberries, cinnamon and agave nectar
Snack: banana
Dinner: Mixed salad cucumber, tomato, greens with ginger dressing, papaya and carrot salad, mango green tea.
The restaurant we went to served tofu on the side of the salad, and I normally would have eaten it but I am proud to say that I left it behind. Feeling great. No digestive issues at all...and I have had digestive problems when I don't eat raw. Good job everyone. Looking forward to tomorrow.

Day #2!!! Yeah!!! Had a great day yesterday...stayed 100% and am feeling good, actually slept last night (a big issue for me). I don't always plan my food but in the beginning it helps me to have some idea of what I am going to do for the day instead of eating intuitively because I have too many poor habits to replace with better choices...don't want to not be prepared for success! :eat

B~Green Smoothie w/oranges, papaya, spinach, frozen blueberries & banana, flax & chia gel...delicious....1 qt.

L~Marinated kale salad w/carrot & tomato...big bowl

S~Avocado/Cacao pudding or almond milk/cacao superfood smoothie

D~ Big dinner salad w/mixed greens, tomato, zucchini, cucumbers, carrot, avocado, celery & radishes w/italian dressing and dulse

At least that's the plan...........feeling so great to be back in the swing~

Yay!!

Look at everyone here - I'm so happy to see all of you!!!

Yesterday I ended up having 2 mangoes for lunch + 3 clementines & a piece of "caramel dream bars" (see the end of Feb 30 Day Thread for pic & recipe)....and a homemade kombucha.....mmm :heart

I had a banana (lol - now I want to write "bananna" lol) when I got home from work - needed something for a little energy before teaching yoga last night....

I was exhausted by the time I got home & nothing was prepared so, it was more fruit - quick & easy.....

Here's a pic of dinner:
http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/ll105/monkapotapus/3-1-11dinner002.jpg

2 granny smith apples
blueberries & strawberries.....everything was organic & I can honestly tell a huge difference in the taste of them.....I'm trying to buy as much as I can in the organic catagory, but you've got to do the best you can with what you've got!!

I had 2 small pieces of dried papaya & a small handful of dehydrated almonds & a couple flax crackers too......

Good morning! Day 2 already .. lol

I learned a really tasty new receipe last night at the raw food class, called Burdock Salad. I had never even heard of burdock. It's suppose to be super heathy. So after the class at WF, I went shopping and after looking high & low for the burdock root, there it was...at the sky high price of $6.99 per lb!!!!! YIKES!! I bought just as much as I thought I might need for a small batch, which came to about a 1/2 lb, so not bad after all.

I also had to opportunity to sample the Raw Protien powder by Garden of Life. I never bought it because I was skeptial that it would be palatable. I bought their Raw Meal one time and could not even choke that down. The protien powder was good, so I bought some and made a smoothie for breakfast this morning.

Almond milk, Raw Protien, maca, flax seeds, Vitamineral Green, banana & raspberries. It was super yum!

Lunch will be cutties & almonds.

Dinner- I am planning a super huge mixed greens salad and will experiment with some kind of homemade dressing of which I am not sure yet. Any good ideas out there for homemade dressing with just a few ingredients? Thanks!

And you all :goodday:

And I've lost 4 pounds! Yahoo!!!:woohoo:

I find the simpler I keep things the easier it is for me to stay 100%

Breakfast usually consist of Bananas, ACV/honey drink, and maybe almonds.

Lunch is always a green smoothie. Today's is celery, banana, grapes, orange, chia, flax, sesame, & sunflower seed, usually I really use greens instead of celery, but the cuppard is bare. (I share this with my Down's Syndrome Blessing -- figuring he needs the vitamens and he drinks it willingly. . .it's been a long journey for that though.)

Snack through out the day can be bananas, almonds, or anything I have on hand that is raw and quick.

Supper is usually a salad of some sort. (It was waldrof salad -- apple, celery, pecans and a bit of broccoli and half of an avocado cubed. Mixed all together -- it was surprisingly good.)

Good to see so many on the road to real health!

I had my flax crackers and an orange for Bkfast at the office.
Lunch - I'm snacking on my chips which were ready when I got home for lunch -yum - both sweet potato and yam came out great ! nice and crispy.
I'll have more fruit at the office later today.
Dinner - salad and zuchinni pasta with marinara sauce

oh boy, I just ate 2 trays of chips ! well, really comes down to half a sweet potato and part of the yam.

Great to have so many people hanging out with us. Means more recipes to use from everyone. :throwhearts:

I had a change for dinner -
I munched on my -oh, whatever it is - end of day - my mind is mush (been up since 4A) and an apple - so I'm sure for dinner all I'll want is a hemp carob/srawberry shake or I may have a coconut bar. :throwhearts:

Here are the recipes, simple and tasty :eat

Onion crackers:
3 medium onions
1 cup flaxmeal
1 cup sunflower seeds
1/2 cup evoo
1/2 cup nama shoyu

Just coursely grind the sunflower seeds and the onions and mix everything together, spread thin and dehydrate some 10 hours (could even cut on that cos this cracker will never get dry anyway, the wetter it is, the more it tastes like meatballs btw)

Tzatziki:
1 cup sunflower seeds
1/2-1 bunch dill (I used dried dill this time cos no fresh dill at home)
3 tbs evoo
juice of one lemon
1/2 cup water
a tiny bit of salt and pepper

Process everything till you achieve a greek yoghurt texture (well, almost so), then mix with veggies of choice. Traditionally tzatziki is made with cucumbers but I like it with lettuce better.

Have been craving tomatoes hard core and had a whole bunch of them just like apples. Then I was really wanting oil... but nothing else so I just, had some oil. Very very strange day for food, to say the least!!

Had a couple salads and smoothies too. Mmmm, and some mango.

Day 2 and still going strong. It helps that I prepare enough raw food to take with me when I work away from home like the past couple of days. I have alfafa sprouts that are ready today and mixed protein sprouts (chickpea, pea, adzuki mix). I also have wheat berries sprouting for my next batch of rejuvelac. When I got home I prepared my raw almond milk with the almonds that had been soaking for 8 hours so I can make a Chia Pudding tomorrow for dessert. If anyone wants the recipe, I'll be glad to post.
So today I ate:
Breakfast: GS with spinach, banana, strawberries, pineapple, mixed greens, rejuvelac, dates, soaked walnuts.
Snack: banana
Lunch: Raw muesli with strawberries, cinnamon, coconut
Dinner: mixed green salad with watermelon, red peppers, mushrooms and tamari sesame dressing.
Feeling energized!

Great photos & inspiring posts! Am feeling unusually tired, so allowing some extra rest & am feeling cheered by the evidence that something is going on within my system.

Here's my grazing day 2:
9.30 am --- banana pudding (a banana w. hemp powder, lucuma, maca, gojis & a little agave)
11.30 --- alfalfa sprouts w. veggieblend (carrots, cucumber, miso)
1pm ---some raisins + green smoothie (kiwi fruits, lemon, pear, mixed greens)
3 pm ---some raisins + a banana
4pm --- sharon fruits
7pm --- mixed greens w. guacamole
9 pm --- large banana pudding (w. hemp, shredded coconut, raisins & goji berries)
10 pm --- plentiful taste-tests of pizza dough & sweet flax crackers in the making...

Thank you, Changeisgood, for mentioning cinnamon flax crackers - I love the salty flax crackers but never thought of making sweet ones & now there's cinnamon/agave-flax crackers (aswell as my first-ever pizza dough) in the oven!

Great day yesterday in terms of eating, in fact, the green smoothie I took for breakfast kept me full the entire day. I left my Salad for today in the fridge.

Physically I am detoxing and can clearly tell. Numbing head-ace toward the front of my head as if something was lifting up and out of me. Very sleepy most of the day and crashed fairly early.

I know that moment of clarity will arrive soon, probably, as the last bit of snow melts this week. Another Green Smoothie today with that Salad for lunch. Hoping for Raw Cashews for dinner.

Enjoying my green tea latte with raw almond milk as I post. I'm hoping to change my food choices today for variety and I'm going to try making a lemon pudding and Cheezy Spinach Soup. I'm posting the recipes and will let you know how it was. It's fairly quick and simple.

Lemon Pudding

2 cups avocado, mashed
1 1/2 cups lemon flesh, without peel and seeds
1 lemon, juice of
2 cups pitted dates
4 Tbs maple syrup, or honey (optional)

1. Peel lemons with a knife. Cut them in half, and begin to slice them.
Remove seeds as you encounter them. Blend the lemon flesh with the mashed
avocado, dates, and lemon juice. A food processor works well for this. If
desired, add some maple syrup or honey. They say that this will be the best lemon pudding you will ever taste.

Cheezy Spinach Soup

CHEEZE INGREDIENTS
4 cups Pine Nuts, soaked 1 hour, drained
1 cup Cashews, soaked 1 hour, drained
3/4 cup lemon juice
1 cup water
1/2 cup nutritional yeast
1 tsp sea salt
CHEEZE INSTRUCTIONS
Blend all ingredients until smooth and creamy.
SOUP INGREDIENTS
1 cup Cheeze
1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp sea salt
Spinach – several handfuls
Water as needed to blend and thin

1. SOUP INSTRUCTIONS

2. Blend all ingredients, adding as much spinach as you can fit in your
blender.

3. Feel free to add more spinach once it’s blended down ( 4 large
handfuls).

Morning everyone!

Starting my day with a smoothie....my usual~

Clementines, two huge handfuls of spinach, frozen papaya (makes it so smooth),
blueberries & banana, chia gel & flax meal...makes 1 qt.

I buy the big Mexican papayas @ Costco, let them ripen good, cut them in half, seed them, slice in long spears, peel and freeze on a cookie sheet. When they are frozen I put them in a ziploc bag and use for smoothies or pudding. Makes the smoothie so silky.

I love going through a lot of greens when raw...the more the better. Making a Costco run this weekend to stock up. They have spring mix & baby spinach, both organic and cheap, 1 lb/under $4...also great avocados (big haas and always good) and the papayas for $2.79.

Love the raw high and how quickly it comes on!!! When I am done eating I am full but not in the uncomfortable way I always am eating heavy SAD food.
Ok then......not sure what I'll be eating today but will post later about that. Hope everyone is having a great morning.

Good Morning, good morning!
We certainly are a lively group!

I had a great juice this AM - collard greesn, dandelion, parsley, carrots, beets, lemon and ginger. I'll have my flax crackers with raisin and cinn, agave.
Lunch will be a salad with apple, and the usual tom, cuke, avo, lemon & oil.
can't get any simpler then that.
Orange
Dinner will be either that delicious looking spinach soup or the zucchini speghetti and tomato sauce.
kiwi and spoonful coconut butter (w/b replaced with the oil, although this is like dessert to me).

Have a wonderful day. For those of you in colder climates, stay warm, enjoy the beauty of each snowflake as it falls, and I will think of you in our desert climate back in the 50s. I don't warm up until it hits 75+, if it's any consolation!

Super Oober excited to do this 30 month 100% RAW with ya'll!! I have been going at it at about 80% for a few weeks but am SO READY to go all the way! I am loving all the recipes ya'll are posting because I am not so creative in the whole food recipe area, in fact I pretty much eat the same thing everyday. I am a broke college student and live on a super tight budget, makes me wish I had a Costco card. Luckily my mom gave me her juicer (Thanks mom..and happy b-day!) and I have a mini food processor and a blender, so I have the tools.

Today (like mosts days) I will start with 1-2 liters of water than my favorite juice, carrots celery beets parsely and apples. I also munch on a banana and a few almonds in the morning as well. For lunch I go for a superfood smoothie with coconut juice, coconut oil, honey, a few pieces of available fruit, cacoa nibs and powder (if I have it), spirulina protein, cashews, and some salt. If I get a bit hungry between lunch and dinner I go for some fruit, almonds, or veggie picking. For dinner I have a huge salad packed with a bunch of veggies and some fruit with Bragg's dressing.

I definitly am excited to go full RAW this month...ttyl, JUICE time!

A gentle reminder to you all. Please don't share what you are consuming that is NOT raw.

This thread is specifically for those of you who are eager to commit to a month of eating 100% raw foods and seeing miraculous results!

:hug

Hi Meowimacat :heart

Personally I drink everything within the next couple hours after juicing it, I believe vitamins die if it sits longer... Perhaps not valid for all kinda juices and all vitamins, I saw people here preparing all juices/smoothies in jars from the previous day, so I guess they can give you extended info

Will you share what's the stuff in your pictures, I only figured the 1st one :wuv

Day 3

- 2 cups orange+lemon juice

- onion crackers + tomato and cucumber salad

- pumpkin hummus wrapped in cabbage leaves (found the hummus recipe here (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showpost.php?p=584842&postcount=7) yesterday, yummy!)

- miso soup (my fave soup, so super easy too, just dissolved a tbs of miso in warm water and added cauliflower, green onions and wakame)

- lots of rose hip, black and bearberry tea throughout the day to relieve my kidney pain

Hey Monk, thanks for the cheezie sauce. I didn't have any tahini, so I substituted white miso. It still turned out really good.

I did not have much variety of veggies to use for dipping, (zucchini, cucumber, bell peppers) but it was all good. Very tasty

Well that was dinner, so I will go backwards:

lunch was a smoothie made with fresh squeeze oj, about 7 cuties, dandelion greens, kale, hemp seeds. Super yum!! It came out more like juice.

breakfast was a smoothie made with almond milk, banana, raspberries, raw protein powder, maca, flax seeds, vitamineral green, and cacao nibs.

I am so loving this protein powder. And these smoothies keep me hunger free for at least 5 hours!!! Amazing!!

Meow I hold my green smoothies for 24 hours or so and they are still good. According to Victoria Boutenko the fiber in the smoothie helps preserve the nutrients. Sometimes hubby doesn't drink his so I will drink it the next day.

B-several bananas, 2 brazil nuts
GS-kiwi, celery, banana, agave, spinach
L-Morning Smoothie (prior post)
S-4 Fudge Balls to get me thru the mall!
D-Not Tuna and Corn Salad
S-1 cinnamon raisin zucchini cracker with almond butter.

Day 3:
10am - green juice
1pm - huge green smoothie + slice of raw bread
3pm - handful of nuts
6pm - choco-hemp-banana-drink
8pm - small bowl of mixed greens w. guacamole
10pm - some raw bread

The bread I made at lowest temp turned out delicious - I had lots of seed pulp in the freezer & mixed in soaked flax, chopped red onions, miso & herbs. Since the kitchen got warmer from the oven door ajar, I brought my yoga mat there & enjoyed some stretching in midst of the aroma from cinnamon flax crackers & spicy bread!

Found a forgotten bag of cacao powder in the pantry, so am envisioning some kind of dessert in the near future...

I'm feeling so good today and I want to thank everyone for sharing because I really do think that this group is inspiring and motivating. Thanks everyone ! Today I'll have the usual green smoothie for breakfast and when I get up I drink a large glass of rejuvelac.
Today I'll prepare a muesli again for lunch but this time with strawberries, coconut, and banana and I'll bring some watermelon left over from last nights salad.
I prepared a incredibly delicious salad dressing very similar to a ginger dressing found in Japanese restaurants. I used my Tribest blender and added:
Braggs Amino, rice vinegar,EVO, sesame oil, miso, ginger, agave. It was do DELICIOUS, so much better than bottled and less expensive.
I have a sprout mix that are almost ready to use, with chickpeas, peas and adzuki beans.
Does anyone have any interesting recipes for this type of sprout mix?

How would everyone feel about posting their favorite easy raw recipe? The weekend is coming up and hopefully most of us have a little more time. Should I open a new thread to do that or should it be done here? Any ideas or thoughts?
Have a great day everyone. Thanks again,:throwhearts::throwhearts::throwhearts:

I have TURNED DOWN vegan chocolate FOUR DAYS IN A ROW because it's cooked. Totally committed to this thing!

Congrats Eva!!!! :throwhearts:

As for the rest of you, you all seem to be in pretty good spirits! Glad to hear it's all going well! Keep up with the pic;s they're great!:kisses:

I haven't been around for awhile. Had a very bad couple of weeks foodwise and healthwise, but I'm back! I'm going to make a delicious carrot-beet juice and then go and do a big grocery shop. I have a horrible flu and I feel bad going to the grocery store so sick but my bf will not do it. I also sort of like to do the shop myself because he never gets everything on the list....

I feel so crappy lately. Not just from the flu either. It's amazing how quickly cooked food can swoop in and numb your senses. I'll be happily raw and then I'll make a mistake and I'll feel soooooo horrible, but then if I continue to make more mistakes I'll just start to feel sort of dull and lifeless.

Anyways, I will go to the store and buy a bunch of beautiful food and start over. I'm NOT giving up, no matter how long this journey takes me!! :cheer:

I have been battling a nasty upper respiratory infection the last four days. On an antibiotic, etc, my doctor told me to stay home, since I work with cancer patients going through chemo. Not doing very good with starting the month out raw. Although, I had a great fruit salad for lunch-sliced strawberries, banana and kiwi, with alittle agave syrup. It was yummy. I'm just not very hungry with this infection. Yuck!

I also soaked some almonds last night and then sprinkled smoky sea salt on them, they are in the dehydrator right now. I love almonds soaked then dehydrated. They are so much easier to chew.

Day 13 for me for my GS fast and I'm happy to be part of this thread since it's right in the midst of that fast.

Food wise it has been easy. I am satisfied with green smoothies (and the occassional avocado).

Emotions/etc are trickier because I'm used to eating when stressed and so on. So that's my learning curve, but I'm 13 days in with NO emotional eating whatsoever and two major-major-major temptation/craving attacks handled.

I'm using Aleesha as a coach which has also helped me because it gave me a great starting point and I know she's always there.

I'm a single mom of six, so we do watch a budget here and I'm happy that I found I can do this for a reasonable price. (They're not on a raw diet, but lots of my fruits/veggies/etc obviously go into them!)

Today was an avocado and about 2L of smoothie (spinach, bananas, frozen peaches/strawberries/blueberries). It was really good. I'll probably make another smoothie for this evening.

13 days without caffeine has also been an adjustment, but one I feel good about. The first few days were difficult.

A woman who has no addiction to caffeine, fats, sugar, etc is a JOY to work with during pregnancy with her diet. Her intuition is simply amazing on what she needs - whether it's 3 oranges in a sitting or whatnot. As a midwife, it's a pleasure to be with clients that are very in tune with their food and realize it's quite important. They also tend to be in tune with their bodies and have very nice labors.

Happy Friday All!!!

Feeling really good today, even in spite of the fact that I still do not sleep well.

B- Smoothie: almond milk, blueberries, goji berries, banana, raw protein powder, maca, vitamineral green, and cacao nibs.

L- Was tricky today, but I pulled it off. We were treated to lunch today by the big boss. It was a Mimi's Cafe. They had a really yummy salad on the menu made of fresh mixed baby greens, fresh strawberries, walnuts,( I had them hold the bacon & blue cheese and asked them to substitute extra strawberries) with a lovely pomberry vinaigrette. It was sooooo good:drool: I am so glad everyone agreed on Mimi's over Olive Garden.

D- I made spinach apple soup and burdock root salad..YUUUUMMMMMY!! I learned those recipes from the raw food workshop I went to on Monday. Here pics. The burdock salad may not look all that appetizing, but let me tell you IT WAS so good!!!! I feel so good after eating this dinner.

Salad was made from burdock root, carrots, sugar snap peas, green onions, avocado, plum vinegar & nama shoyu. If you tend to like asian salad, then this one is for you.

Day 4

- banana+parsley smoothie

- onion crackers, tomato, cucumber, green olives

- several dried plums

- bearberry tea

Wasn't feeling well yesterday so almost no appetite. Woke up pretty hungry today though, and now that I saw the 2 pics above me I'm even hungrier  Pippin07, what else do you put in the spinach apple soup (other than spinach and apple obviously lol). I presume there's avocado, now that's something they doubled the price of recently, it's very hard to find them here, only one store sells them actually, so I just passed on them cos they weren't even good for half a price, let alone for double price. Sigh! You guys are lucky to find so many products for the recipes, I always drool over so many things I see the recipe of and always major products impossible to find.

MONK -- Thank you!! OK first, CARAMEL DREAM BARS?! Are you kidding?! lol! Sounds delish!

And this week FLEW by for me, I cannot BELIEVE it's Saturday already! Yesterday was, like, Monday, no?! lol!

I_am_there -- GREAT news for the labor! This is my first, and I'm NOT going to a hospital. Four years without doctors and meds, they're not going to start chastising me for being healthy now! Sooo, I need to find a midwife in Brazil. That should be interesting! You want to come on down? lol!

cc4me19 -- YES, feeling great! Here is a link to some green smoothie info (http://uncooking101.com/site/raw-food-recipe/basic-green-smoothie/) I put together. I LOVE green smoothies -- and actually my husband owns a cafe here in Brazil that sells them! They are sweeping through the town like crazy!

My newest favorite recipe from the cafe: a large bunch of cilantro, 1 mango, 3 bananas, juice of 1 lime, and some ice. It's SHOCKINGLY delicious but very cleansing and a little strong.

Hope you have a RAWsome weekend too!!

pippin! Your smoothie sounds sooo very healthy but super decadent. LOVE It! CONGRATS on pulling off the raw lunch!!!

w00t -- Where are you? Feeling nosy about why you are having a tough time finding stuff. I do feel your pain on some level! I can't easily get specialty stuff here in Brazil, and some I can't get at all... The produce, however, oh, I'm not even going to get started on it! I'm in HEAVEN here!!

Clara -- WOW, you are hard core on your greens! Good for you!

Tito -- Good morning! NICE work on not eating at dinner -- sounds less than ideal. But you held fast! AWESOME!!! lol ~ I bet you'll have a snack next time!

Feeling FABULOUS this morning! Jumped out of bed early, oil pulling (http://uncooking101.com/site/article/one-persons-experience-with-oil-pulling/), about to go to the farmers market and get some yummies, then off to experiment with creating recipes for my upcoming book. And then back to "work" here... the woman working with me has been cracking the whip BIG TIME to make sure the book is ready, I get my stuff done, all that! lol!

SO, I am SO going to have a passion fruit smoothie (https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=197795323583094&set=pu.151958411500119) at some point today b/c that was just the BOMB earlier in the week. And I'll have to put on my creative cap for new recipes!

It's the weekend but I have a full plate today ( raw of course). I'll begin the day as usual with a GS. I have a question for everyone. I'm thinking of buying an Excalibur Dehydrater and have read some of the reviews on Amazon. Some say you should buy one with an automatic timer that shuts off when it's done. Any thoughts? Does anyone own one and do you use it often enough?
My husband and I attended an event last night with appetizers. I knew there would probably be nothing for me so I headed to the local health food store and bought packages of raw crackers, etc ( SO EXPENSIVE!) but they did the trick for that little something to put in your purse in case. I would love to hear from anyone. Have a great raw day. I'll post my food later.:confused

Eva-Congratulations hon, so happy for you!!

DH and I went out to Panerra's last night and I got a salad w/nice dark greens.
Went to Native Sun and Costco...stocked up on coconuts, cabbage, spring mix, spinach, avocados, papaya, apples, tomatoes, pineapple, strawberries, blueberries, bananas, etc...so many beautiful reds and greens. I really get such a kick out of the beautiful and vibrant colors of my food!

Making and sharing a GS with DH this morning...he says he will try it.a step in the right direction! Green grapes, spinach, kale, lime and ice.

Playing in the kitchen today and making some raw goodies to have on hand, bread, crackers, etc...Hope everyone has a great day.

Hi Everyone.

First off, Effortless, I love having a timer - other wise when whatever I'm making should be done and I'm not home or asleep - yuk!! I've set the timer for longer then I should have for a couple of things and they were dried out, so I can imagine what it would be like if it went on endlessly !

This AM, my husband said he felt like he was at a fruffybar - the juicing I did was beautiful in color arangement. First apple and some pear, then greens - dandelion, parslety, and collard greens, then kiwi, apple and pear and lemon. And plenty of froth on top. (I added ginger to mine). And it tasted great!

Lunch orange and apple. Flax seed crackers with raisins, coconut, agave and cinn. ( I soaked the raisins) yum and it does the trick!!

Dinner- tonight I'm making the zucchini and sauce - I'm not letting anyone get in my way - Tired of throwing together a salad cause of time.

Making cauliflower popcorn.

Have a great day!

Wish I was in Brazil - what a great experience !

w00t

changeisgood, which recipe do you use for the popcorn? Is it the ones covered in cashew sauce? Cos cashews are another thing I can't find here... But they are not really raw so I guess that's my least problem... Actually, Eva, I live in Turkey, very far from Brazil and it's ridiculous how little raw stuff they sell here... There's lots of fruit and veggies all year round but for example no celery, and I haven't found a good way to substitute it in recipes... There are no raw nut butters, not even tahini... All they sell is the arabic kind that's like fried and makes me sick... Biggest problem however is finding something to sprout and there's practically nothing where I live, so I order wheat and rye online, which was the only thing I found (stuff like quinoa, amaranth nobody has ever heard of here)... The first shop I bought from sent bulgur instead of raw wheat, even though the description said wheat... It makes no difference to them is the stuff raw or not, cos nobody cares to eat raw...

So, yeah, it's more than a challenge for me to stay raw :cheer:

GlimR -- THank you!! GAH, I love Native Sun. YOu are so lucky!! Do you know about this place? I heard wonderful things about it from a friend!
The Veggie Bin (http://theveggiebin.com)

Kathy -- Whoot whoot on the pancakes! I'm making mine in the morning, cannot WAIT!!! Did you take any photos? lol, Maybe I already asked you that?

Basenjimamma -- Happy day to you! Hope it's going well!! LOVE your attitude, the fabulous assumption that whatever you have will be delish, RAW and oh so abundant!!

changeisgood -- OMG!!!! Sounds fabulous to do the juicing in colors like that! What an appealing idea. :)

OMGG, and cauliflower popcorn. Oh how I am aching for my D!

You can always come visit -- it's just flippin' fabulous here!

w00t -- Whoah, very interesting! I'm so surprised at that. For what it's worth, the celery here is SO different than in the US that I can't use it. It's much more bitter. Try cucumber or bell peppers in many recipes. :)

You are AWESOME for making this happen!!!

OH, and if you can get sesame seeds (I know, maybe a stretch...), here is how you can make tahini on your own (http://uncooking101.com/site/raw-food-ingredient/sesame-seed-tahini/). We can't get it here either, so I feel your pain!!

Eva

Food so far
Water from a Green Coconut
2 peaches
8 oz. fresh OJ
VERY large salad with a Brazilian avocado (equals two small avocados) and some lovely veggies

Can't wait to be hungry again so I can tear into the passion fruit on the table next to me.

In other news
I bought some flowers at the farmers market, and I must say they have brightened my day!!

Getting a ton of work done, hyper focused! LOVE RAW FOOD for that! I will never miss the days when I had to take ADHD meds to focus!

w00t
03-05-2011, 02:36 PM
Day 5

- a cup of orange+lemon juice

- several sesame biscuits (made from nut milk leftovers)

- tomato, cucumber, green olives

- a cup of carrot juice

- more sesame biscuits

- grape leaves (stuffed with rye sprouts, poppy seeds, dill, parsley, black pepper)

Eva, as you see I use sesame for milk, biscuits, crackers, etc. It's the cheapest and easiest of all nuts actually. I have tried to make my own tahini but without Vitamix it seems impossible to happen, stays too lumpy and tastes like sesame than like tahini... I'll bring me a couple jars (along with other raw stuff) when I go to Bulgaria but not sure when, perhaps in April... We aren't rich enough yet to order from abroad, and if I can I'll rather order the Vitamix than tahini anyway :)

Did you check out the info? It might help -- it has tips on every little piece. I understand, though, it's a tricky thing. SO funny to think of you stocking up in Bulgaria. I don't remember it being a particular health haven when I visited! lol!

Today:

-fruit for breakfast
-spinach/kale/romaine salad for lunch w/ a plate of broccoli and celery.
-flax crackers (Flackers) for snack

As for dinner, I am looking to find some ideas as to what I should eat. Maybe when the time comes, I will have a taste for something. Maybe just a green smoothie.

I saw Eva's post about those pancakes (i think on another thread) and I am probably going to have to make those for breakfast tomorrow.. it being Sunday and all... I will splurge a lil. My mom will probably eat some too!

The Veggie Bin looks great...unfortunately no service at the Beaches.
MY house is smelling so good right now....I have Mango/Peach.Coconut Bread in the dehydrator and made the cake and filling for Moonie Pies...will put them together and coat in chocolate tomorrow. I don't eat many sweets but do like to have something on hand if the mood strikes. The bread is great with almond butter. Will make some flax crackers tomorrow to go with the nacho cheese.

Food today-
Green smoothie
Salad w/strawberries, mixed greens & vinaigrette.
Apple
Cacao/maca/almond milk smoothie w/goji berries & banana & chia
Maybe salad for dinner and some nacho cheeze and veggies.

wOOt -the popcorn recipe I use is - put the small pieces of cauliflower in a large baggie - add alot of nutritonal yeast 4 - 8 t, 1/2 t salt, 1t oil, splash of water. shake! add either raw honey or coconut oil - dehydrate overnight. I think I did it at 110 or 105 temp. I checked it periodically. I use parchment paper. And then half way thru I flip it. I liked it without dehydrating it. And if I didn't eat it right away, the next day it had a funny taste. But it was good, anywaay.

I can't eat any nuts, I may splurge once every few months. I find it very difficult to figure out how to convert recipies. And I hate the flavor of buckwheat - so, I have to figure out the substitute for many recipes using that.

I loved my armenian recipe for stuffed grapeleaves - I bet I could use 'rice' and add currants, agave, and... I'd have to check the recipe - but it's got to taste good. Did you brine your own grapeleaves?

Would it cost alot if I shipped you a carton of stuff from the states ?

Eva

wOOt -- Cool! Do you know there is a pretty big Bulgarian population on the island of Martha's Vineyard? Anyways - that is great. Maybe Turkey will be next if you raise more awareness. You never know!! It's QUITE funny how all of the sudden many more people here in this town in Brazil are talking about health b/c of my antics with the green smoothies, no meat, all that good stuff!

Good stuff spreads! :)

BlackKat -- AWESOME, so we'll both be in the kitchen making these for Sunday morning. Lovely! Would love to share them with my mom -- hmmmm -- that reminds me to tell her about the recipe!! Bet she'd love it!!

Enjoy your day!

Glimr -- Aw, bummer. Just thought I'd pass it on in case. Mango/peach/coconut bread?! Wow, sounds delightful!!!

Eva, congratulations!!!! When are you due? Have you been raw through your whole pregnancy?

On my last pregnancy (20 years ago) I was eating cooked vegan ( I had never even heard of raw) and my OBGYN basically scared me out of remaining on a vegan diet. Needless to say, the road back to vegetarian or vegan has been like a yo yo for me. But I am happy to say that at this late time in my life (58) I believe I finally have the resolve to remain steadfast with sticking to a vegan diet; preferably raw.

What I would recommend for anyone who wants to stay on a vegan diet and if you are struggling with letting go of eating animal products, watch the documentary on you tube called Earthlings. That is what did it for me.

I drove all the way to Roseville, which is all most 70 mile from where I live her in Stockton, CA, to attend a raw food fair. It was held a WF market. The drive was well worth it. I got to sample a lot of recipes and raw food products. It was fun. I also did some shopping while there, as there is no WF within 60 miles of where I live.

As soon as I got home I proceeded to make a wonderful jynormus jug of juice with my all my fresh organic veggies I just bought. Kale, dandelion greens, bok choy, celery, ginger, cucumber, and carrots. :juicy:

So today was:

B- All the foods I sampled at the raw fair. :eat

Green juice :juicy:

I guess for Linner (thats lunch & dinner combined) I will have the left over seed cheese sauce with an assortment of cut up veggies.

Hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend

Hi everyone! Feeling hungry for stuff today, but it's not a sharp intense thing like I experienced about a week ago. It's just nagging and easily drowned out.

I made 2L of green smoothie early in the day and that's been the bulk of my food (strawberry, banana, spinach, chia seeds, flax). I had an avocado not too long ago.

I took a 1 hour medium intensity walk last night around 1am with a laboring mom.

And I've had two cups of amazingly good yogi tea. I might get another cup before the night is out. It's very satisfying.

I forgot who is was, but someone had asked what all was in the soup. Here goes.

2 C spinach leaves, tightly packed
1/2 apple (i used a whole pink lady)
1/2 C water
1 tsp fresh lemon juice
salt to taste (or not)
1/2 ripe avocado ( i used 1/4)

Add all ingredients except avo and blend until smooth. Add avo and blend again till smooth. Avoid over blending after adding avo, as this makes the soup get frothy.

Enjoy! :kisses:

Last night the stone finally fell down from my kidney into the urinary tract, what a relief after almost 2 weeks of ceaseless pains OMG It still hasn't come out of the system but as long as it's out of the kidney it's due to fall out one day, I'll keep drinking tons of liquids as usual. You know being vegan and raw doesn't help against kidney stones, this one must have appeared during the past 2 years that I was vegan and large period raw and I had never had kidney problems before while I was only vegetarian (I was born vegetarian, only consumed meat because parents pushed me and that's close to none). I posted this in a thread yesterday but let me post here too http://vegetarian.lovetoknow.com/Green_Smoothie_Oxalate
if you have history of kidney problems in the family or even worse if you had your own history of kidney problems, beware on all the oxilating greens, I see everyone here tossing spinach or kale in their smoothies, plus in salads, so you might want to consume less of that and substitute with some less oxilating greens. I read that parsley juice does good to the kidney and this is the only green I use in a smoothie anymore...

Oh that's pretty easy and I can find all products... :woot: And no, I am in no way going to quit eating spinach despite warning against it in the above post, I still believe all greens are good for me, just need to be more careful to not overconsume them, which I might have done in the past. I'll wait a few days tho just so my kidney heals up from newly delivering a stone and I'll definitely get this spinach apple soup done :eat

Eva, I was considering that too. Once I learn Turkish better I will make a blog or something to share my experience with raw food, it's better for me if there are more raw foodists around, and then they will start producing and importing more raw stuff for us too like it happened in other countries  So far I've only found one vegan blog that contained several raw recipes in it...

Changeisgood, what's the problem with nuts, why you say you can't eat them? Well, guess we have a common problem then cos I also need to convert almost every recipe... My grape leaves are not my own made, they sell them all over here because stuffing them is a traditional dish, I believe they are only pickled in water and lemon and they are still raw, I put them in water overnight to wash out some of the salt and I stuff them with what I have on hand, there is a nice Turkish recipe that calls for bulgur, chopped almonds, poppyseed, dill and parsley, so I actually converted that into my raw recipe. I really hope to make my own grape leaves pickle next year cos homemade is always better. This year we only managed to pickle olives like most people here do (with lemon, salt and olive oil), once I tasted homemade olives I couldn't eat the commercially sold canned stuff anymore, such a huge difference...

Oh and you are so sweet for offering to send me a carton of raw stuff. :kisses: I don't know how much it costs to ship but it must be expensive, I've thought of ordering stuff from American sites as long as they deliver to Turkey at all but every time I come to the conclusion that it's better to just wait till I go home in Bulgaria and bring me a big bag full of raw stuff. There's a bit of a problem with that too cos they don't allow you to carry too much of one and the same thing cos they suspect you might be selling it illegally, another problem that might appear is if I have some powdery stuff (you know spirulina, mesquite, lucuma etc) that nobody in Turkey has ever heard of, I'm afraid they might confiscate it for analysis LOL Even worse if I bring hemp seeds or hemp powder, I'm not sure they will ever believe it if I explaint what's it used for :D Anyways, thanks again but don't worry, I will manage somehow, either legally or illegally to get me the stuff once I make it home. For the periods until I get me some stuff and for after it's finished (which will be soon if I stick to 100% raw, duh) I'll just be sticking to simpler recipes like I am now, I am in no way starving, just it's good to pamper yourself with new recipes and treats at least every now and then...

Do I really!!! :o. Yea, I guess I do make them a lot!!!

Both recipes I got off of this site, just do a search and you'll find them. Fajitas especially are SO easy to make!!! It's basically Portobella Mushrooms, red, yellow, and orange Bell Peppers, yellow Onion, and Zucchini marinated in Chili Powder, Cumin, Cayenne, and EVOO. Make sure you drain it well, especially if you're gonna have leftovers (rarely happens in my house!!!!!). Also, Alissa has a wonderful Sour Cream recipe!!!!

The Rawritos are also easy to make, but needs to be dehydrated. It's basically Sunflower seeds and Corn.

I make um a lot cuz they're so easy and delicious!!!!

Your lentil tenders look great...I had the book out yesterday but didn't see that recipe....will have to look it up!

My Mango/Peach flat bread is done....so good w/almond butter and raw honey for a meal w/almond mylk and a banana or alone for a snack. Moonie Pies are almost done, just have to frost them (Heathy's recipe...so delicious!)

Doing great today, actually slept through the night, a rare occurrence for me, have major pain/insomnia issues and don't sleep much.....though I long for it.

Went grocery shopping and stocked up on all kinds of beautiful produce. Going over to my daughter's for dinner and bring myself a bee-utiful salad so as not to drool over what they are having.........will be glad to have kept on with what makes me feel so fantastic in so many ways.

Food today-
Smoothie w/oj, spinach, blueberries, cranberries, chia, flax & banana
Salad w/mixed greens & veggies
Flax crackers w/nacho cheeze dip

the rest to be determined...:woot:
Hope everyone has a great raw day!!!

Glmr...

I feel you on the sleep issues. I am hoping to one day discover what the heck is causing it so I can do something about it.

One thing I've noticed is that for some reason on raw I am better able to deal with the effects of lack of sleep.

So far today my meals have been:

B- Vitamineral Green with water, tangerines.

L- Smoothie made with banana, blueberries, raw protein powder, and maca.

D- If all goes as planned dinner will be Spicy Tomato Basil Soup. I had some at the raw food fair yesterday and bought all the ingredients to make it. And I will have a green salad with it.

Oh boy.. talk about detox headache. Massive one today. On and off... My skin is looking awesome though, suprisingly right before my period too. Usually I'm a war zone for break outs right about now.

-plate of fruit for breakfast
-salad with mixed greens, chia seeds, apple slices, some celery
-almond butter
-dinner? not sure yet.

I was going to make some pancakes this morning, but I woke up too late, and had some things I needed to get done. I may try this tomorrow if I have the kitchen to myself for a bit.

I also went grocery shoppin today. I got plums, mangos, blueberries, carrots, sesame oil (going to try oil pulling), apples, dino kale, and that's I can remember off the top of my head.

Here it is, one of my best recipes.....it can be crisp or soft depending on how thick you make it and how long you dry it.

1 lg. mango, peeled and diced
1 lg. peach, peeled and diced
1/2 small zucchini diced (leave peel on)
1/2 red pepper, diced
1/4 small sweet onion, diced (vidalia)
3/4 cups golden flax seed, ground (=aprox.1 cup)
3/4 cup sunflower seeds, ground (=aprox. 1 cup)
1/4 cup olive oil or macadamia nut oil*
3/4-1 cup water, as needed
1/4 cup maple syrup*
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp celtic sea salt
1 tsp vanilla

1. Grind flax & sunnies is coffee bean grinder or vita mix, place in large bowl, add salt and cinnamon, stir and set aside.
2.Put onion, zucchini & red pepper in food processor, pulse till chopped, not smooth.
3. Add mango and peach to other veggies in FP and pulse once to incorporate and make slightly finer, not smooth.
4. Add wet ingredients to dry in bowl, including water, oil, fruit/veggie mix, vanilla and maple syrup.
5. Stir well.
6. Adjust to taste as far as salt, sweetener, etc.
7. Divide between two teflex lined dehydrator trays.
8. Smooth flat and square to almost cover sheet.
9. I use my hand to do this and keep wetting it under running water as I go, turning the sheet 1/4 turn till done. The additional water from your hand makes the spreading and smoothing of the bread much easier and more even.
10. Dry @145 for one hour, then lower to 115 for aprox. 5 hours, flip, dry an hour or so then cut to desired size...continue drying as desired.

Hi everyone! I am joining the March challenge a little late - I tried to start at the beginning of the month with a 3 day juice feast but realized that it was too hard to juice for me and my husband everyday and I began "supplementing" a little bit - but this weekend I was 100% back and am 100% happier for it!

I've been drinking GS for breakfast (kale, banana, spirulina, aloe, and yacon and lucuma powders), walnut/carrot/buckwheat burgers for lunch, Noritos for snacks (so delicious!), Kale salads with that amazing maple-coconut dressing posted by RawEater (who knew maple would taste so good with kale??) and pecan turtle cheesecake or cacao nut balls for dessert.

Right now I am dehydrating some onion bread to have with my salad for lunch tomorrow at work. I am going to try to incorporate more simple greens into my day instead of trying to always make meals that require so much time - this would definitely help me stay prepared!

Thank you all so much for your stories and advice! I've been following this thread for motivation and it's definitely worked :encore:

I started the day with an apple and my flax crackers and plenty of water.

I shopped till I dropped!!
I ate my cauliflower popcorn - the pieces get so small, I'm eating the whole 2 trays!
Dinner will be a smoothie - I'm craving strawberry somethingorother. I bought coconut milk. Young coconuts aren't available anymore here unless they find another country to purchase them from. So I bought coconut flour.

I was hoping not to have to work today so I could spend some time at home with some food prep for the week. I'll start tomorrow. For breakfast I had the usual GS with collard, spinach, spring mix, banana, mango, soaked walnuts, strawberries. Lunch was a green salad with mushrooms, clementine and ginger miso dressing. I made Cinnamon Raisin Almond balls for dessert. Toss 1 cup almonds, 1 cup dried cherries or other dried fruit, 1 tsp cinnamon and whirl in the food processor. Form into balls and roll in coconut.
For dinner a green salad with water melon and Strawberry Banana Sorbet.
For the sorbet... 1 cup frozen strawberries, 1 banana - whirl in the food processor until combined. You can use any frozen fruit with a banana. Yum!

Ok here are pics of my dinner.

Salad- romaine, daikon radish, carrots, cucumbers, sunflower seeds, avocado, 1/2 of a squeezed lemon, and topped with some raw seasoning I bought at whole foods.

Soup- I didn't stick to the original recipe. I used tomato, sun dried tomato, red bell pepper, fresh basil, garlic, onion, olive oil, dulse, and another raw seasoning called called Parma. It's a chipotle cayenne vegan Parmesan. So I have renamed my soup, Chipotle Tomato Soup.

It is really rich and my salad was so huge, that I cant finish it. I think I will add some flax seeds and throw in the DH and see if I come with flax crackers.

I ate very little again today, it's not typical for me to have no appetite but since I am still a little sick I guess my body itself refuses more food and I am not pushing it..

Day 6:

- a cup of orange+lemon juice

- sesame biscuits

- tomato leek soup

It's early morning here and still don't feel hungry at all, trying to decide whether to make me some smoothie or have juice again...

Have a nice day, guys! :kisses:

I think I paid five bucks for it! Yeah, that is a lot, but I don't do that kind of thing often. In fact that was the first time. I figure it probably turned out cheaper than if I made a whole one and it went to waste if I couldn't finish it, or if I botched up the recipe

I hope you like the bread....it's my favorite for something sweet and the onion bread is for something savory.

Ok.....seven days raw and I slept through the night last night for the first time in I can't remember how long (8 hours!!!!) AND, after incorporating Maca into my diet again, and after one period in the last year I suddenly wake up on the verge of having one....???? Very interesting. I have done some maca experiments with stalled cycle before but not in this last year..hmmnnnnnnn. I'll be 54 next month. Will be curious to see how this goes.

Went to dinner at my daughter's house yesterday....brought my beautiful salad of mixed greens, ripe strawberries, clementines & glazed nuts with a rasp/vinaigrette dressing. Will not say what they had but I was in such a pissed off mood that I couldn't have it. I know in reality I COULD have it if I chose to but didn't really want all the aftermath that comes with eating it. I was annoyed that I had to make the choice, instead of thankful I could make it. I even said, "Damn it, I'm fat if I eat it and I'm fat if I don't!"

Whhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.*LOL*:sadtears:Talk about a pity party! So I ate my salad, shared my berries & oranges with my beautiful granddaughter and was rewarded with a good night's sleep and the ability to not berate myself this morning! It's good!

Good Morning everyone.
Well, after looking in my fridge and reading posts, I will try and make a blueberry coconut cake or pancakes.

So, instead of blueberries in my GS this morning, I'll use strawberries. First I'll have a quart of water with lemon slightly warmed.Collard Greens, parsley, ginger, hemp, meca, all my other stuff (probiotics, etc). I'm sure I bought another green full of nutrients to use, can't remember, maybe I'll use spirulina and the strawberries.
I bought individually packed frozen wheatgrass. So, I'll have that before my smoothie. I hope it's good - We grow it for our cat, she loves it in grass form. So, perhaps when it warms up I'll do larger quantities for us.
L - apple, kiwi, orange salad and flaxseed crackers.
D - hemp milkshake, apple with tahini dressing

I've been doing raw since mid Dec. and I've noticed a sore I had on my face for months has been reduced to almost nothing, and the darkness under my eyes has lightened - :woot: And I definitely sleep less and have more energy.

Has anyone's dreams changed? I'm missing my mom (deceased) I miss calling her - especially all the rewards, no more constipation, that in itself is a Godsend ! I'd tell her all these other changes, too. And of course the difficulties. We lived together for the last couple of years of her life, so we were very close. She's been showing up in dreams recently. My dad too, a couple of times (not with my mom), but he was more stoic, my backbone.
Anyway, that's why I asked.

Have a gentle Monday.

Hi everyone...well Day 6...amazing and feeling amazing. We have an incredible blizzard here in Vermont this morning with zero visibility. Yesterday we had rain. So weird.

GlimR~ I have Maca powder but have not used it. What are the benefits? I may incorporate it in my GS in the morning.

Today changed the flavor up a bit in the GS by adding a Chocolate spirulina powder, with strawberries, and a banana. I find if I have too much citrus or acidic fruit I start developing mouth cankers. In the summer when I gorge on the garden tomatoes I pay dearly in canker sores.

Just received confirmation of my subscription today from my local CSA. I do plant a garden with kale, collard, zucchini, tomatoes etc but I just don't have enough time with our bed and breakfast to plant everything I'd like so the CSA allows me to get organic berries, corn and other vegetables in season with none of the hassle and lower than the cost at the local health food store, and it's local.

Just want to thank everyone for sharing. I really look forward to reading everyone's post. It's nice to know that we are connected no matter the distance. Isn't the internet great! :goodday:

Hi changeisgood~~~

I grind my flax seeds, that avoids the look of ticks:LOL: Also, when grind they dont stick to your teeth as bad.

Juicing a whole head of romaine has a calming effect. I have tried it and it does work.

Changeisgood~my dreams are crazy right now.. I'm having several each night since I havent been sleeping too well for the last 2 nights (bad headaches). Mostly dreams about emotion things.

Everyone else... good job! Love reading all you're posts for the day.

----

I woke up around 3am with a headache again. Worse than yesterday during the day. It continued till dawn when I woke up again, pressure in the front of my forehead. Almost migraine-like. Eyes all squinty. I also feel lethargic (probably from lack of sleep from the headaches). I am finally at peace right now, and my head feels fine. Although, i could still go for a nap.

Not too hungry today. My body is totally tellin me to just rest today. I had a plate a fruit so far, and some left over salad from lastnight. I think I will just have a smoothie for dinner.

Sometimes I think I should eat more to make sure I'm getting enough food for the day, but I guess I should just listen to my body. When I'm not hungry, I shouldn't feel the need to eat. Right? I just get to thinking what would be best to get rid of the headaches, eating more, or eating less. Maybe just chill out and let nature takes its course. :meditating: Yep. that's it.

Cheers!

Hey everybody, I'm back again and trying at it again.. I realize it may take a couple of times but as long as I stay on course, it will be eventually.

Today is first day

Current state of mind (so that I can compare to afterwards and look back on it, like a before and after :), I'm sorry for the negativity but I assure you it's for the good): I feel absolutely awful. Honestly hopeless, food addiction has taken over life, having very bad insomnia and lots of mood problems (negativity, rage, depression) my anxiety is really high lately and I can barely leave the house. But worse is the depression. I just don't want to do anything. But I think this week has been my rock bottom. Last time I did raw, all of this went away within 30 days. Hard to believe? I am truly lucky for this option to stabalize my mood and attitude towards life, as well as the physical problems (candida, constipation, no energy etc)

I wish everybody here so much love and I have the world full of gratitude for each and every one of you, caring supportive loving and acheiving souls that helped me so much last time, acheive my dreams of finally feeling good in life. You are all worth so much love and you guys really kept me going. In my heart you are all <3 We can do this, you can do this! I can do this.

EscapeArtist~ Don't get discouraged. The fact that you keep coming back and trying says it all. You can do it.

Thought I would share this link. I may try this tomorrow for lunch because I don't think I could skip my smoothie for breakfast.http://www.choosingraw.com/recipes/breakfasts/banana-breakfast-sushi/

This would even be good as a snack. Maybe use romaine lettuce instead.

GlimR - Good on ya for being strong! :)

Changeisgood - Luckily I have had no dreams lately. My BF has been sick for the last week but finally last night he was not up coughing and horking so we both had such a good nights sleep, I was out!
When I first went 100% I had bad bad dreams about SAD food, had me craving all kinds of SAD food when I woke up. Glad I don't have those dreams anymore.
You want to grind your flax seeds, they can actually stick to your intestines and cause a build up, my BF knew someone who had to have surgery because of this. Sticky buggers they are.

MMmm wish blueberries werent so expensive right now :(

So far today:
AM chlorella drink
PM GS: banana, apple, pear, orange, strawberry, green and purple kale, frozen mix berries, honey, coconut, and way too much maca .. I dumped a little too much in... :P

Also, anybody know what's good to add to GS or juicing for stress?

I've been using maca - not sure yet what benefits I'm getting.

HEY, MONK - where are you??????????????????????

:throwhearts:

Hey Change!
Here I am!!:kisses:
Lettuce is supposed to be very calming - you could juice that! :heart
Keep using your maca - it's an adaptogen (helps us cope with stress better) & also balances our hormones....give us energy!! :excited:

Everyone is doing so GREAT!!! :throwhearts:

I was MIA all weekend doing DBF's year end taxes for his business.....ugh...I think we put in about 14hrs doing them....:thud: (if I can stay all Raw through that stress - I can do ANYTHING!!) ....lol...:encore:

Yesterday was my "weigh in" day & I released another pound for a total of 15.5# since 1/3/11!!! Yay!!!

Today is Day 39 - 100% Raw for me!! :excited:

I have barely eaten anything today....just not very hungry....

This morning I had my tea & smoothie.....
Lunch was another cup of tea, a kombucha & a handful of dehydrated almonds....
I just had 2 flax crackers......

I need to cut up a pineapple, canteloupe, mangoes & strawberries.....
Those will probably be dinner.....

I am still exhausted from this weekend....and let me tell you...today was really a "Monday".....glad it's done.....lol

Keep up the awesome rawsome-ness everybody!!! (((Hugs)))~monk~

Monk~~ congratulations on your weigh in. You are doing great!!! :woot: I usually weigh in on Sunday but forgot to this time.

ReneeH~~ wish I could get in on the pie party, but lack the ingredients at this time. And besides, I would be at work tomorrow at noon. I will definitely put this one on my ‘to make’ list!

Today’s meals:

B- Smoothie. Almond milk, raw protein, maca, vitamineral green, raspberries, banana, and cacao nibs.

L- Oranges, manderines, bananas.

D- Green salad of mixed baby greens, cucumbers, tomatos with a tomato tahini dressing and flax crackers.

Last but not least I made dessert- tropical sorbet made with mango, banana, and coconut.

Incidentally I made the mistake of using the cylinder without the lid on, and guess what?? Yep that vita mix started to chew right into it. Now there are these little wire like thingies sticking out. I had to throw away the first batch of sorbet because it had pieces of plastic in it. Boo!!!! So…now I need to find out how to buy a replacement cylinder. :thud:

Renee -- I'm honored! I tried going on the link and it wouldn't let me reply,so here I am. It's rather late getting home from work, but you inspired me and gave me a new energy - so, I'll be conjuring something up, after I give my cat some attention.

Pippin and RawSar - the whole flax seed is what was doing the trick for my no longer being constipated. BUT, it is understandable if they stick to my cheeks, why not the intestines. So, I will grind my own. I've tried store bought and it didn't do the trick, but perhaps my grinding it will.

Romaine and lettuce - I have plenty of that ! If it works, I'm gonna buy out all the markets in town.

Monk, congratulations on weight loss. It's nice to see those numbers go down. Gives more inspiration.

I'll end by saying - I know I'm a full fledged rawbie - my husband's food smelled like bad body odor ! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :throwhearts:

Gee, lots of post since my last. . . so good to see so many doing so good.

I'm still sticking to keeping things simple.

Breakfast is bananas (1-2) and ACV/honey tea

Lunch is GS - greens on hand, fruit on hand, and seeds on hand

Supper tends to be fruit and nuts, usually thrown in the food processor to get minced and mixed.

And I snack on nuts during the day, when hungry.

I have been 100% for 19 days now and am a bit disappointed that the weight hasn't been more eager to leave my body. Thought I lost 4 pounds, but it found me again. I am going through menapause and have been told you typically put on 10+ pounds which is natures way of handling the hormones, so I am trying to "grin and bear it". Though I do not think I am doing a very good job.

Day 8 - Tried to change up the menu with something other than salads. Don't get me wrong I love salads.

B - Green Smoothie
L - Raw Cheezy Spinach Soup with Flax crackers, raw chocolate pudding which really hit the spot.

D - banana topped with raw pudding. The raw pudding has avocado and is really rich so you can only eat a couple of mouthfuls.

i had an awful day yesterday, and my period arrived this morning! i was surprised to get it at usually the week before i am a nightmare! every month my boyfriend and i have a massive fall out (i cause it), and it is always the week before my blob. this week, no mood swings, no anxiety, nothing! amazing!! i cant believe how much food can change you mentally. has anyone else noticed a change in their moods before period?
i've also noticed i have been dreaming every night!

today i made the cinnamon pancakes for breakfast (deeeelicious) i couldn't manage it all at breakfast time so i've just finished it off now. will have a super green smoothie in the afternoon and maybe another one for my dinner.

yesterday i had zucchini pasta with raw marinara sauce, i didn't overly enjoy it though  i think it was the raw garlic.

LOOOOVING being raw i am on day 7 now!! i have dropped 3lbs when i last checked, i am 5lb from being the weight i was when i was 16! exciting!!

Blackkat- I am so sorry to hear about your headaches - do you think that it is detox or something else? It seems severe to be detox, however when I went almost 100% raw last month, I started getting really bad headaches mid-month and became exhausted, which is very rare for me. I thought that I may not have been eating the right foods so I started eating some cooked food which made me feel so much worse, Needless to say, I felt a million times better once I went raw again - good for you for hanging in there! Have others had the same experience? I always eat healthy and have been vegan for a yr and half so I would be surprised if my body was detoxing - but now that I hear others going thru the same thing, it just may be possible.

Now I have so much energy that I wake up in the middle of the night, but I think that it's due to a much more peaceful state of being and not stress or restlessness (as it used to be) so I don't really mind it.

I can't wait for this blueberry challenge! Should we post our pictures at noon? Does it matter what time zone we live in?

RawSar -- So glad it's starting to warm up there!

Renee -- Hello! Another person doing the Rawritos! Ya'll are killin' me!!!

Pippin -- There was a day before this challenge when I was craving cooked onions and bread. I can tell you without hesitation that raw foods are king, no matter what I think my "body" is telling me, and I intend to ingnore the bad cravings!

Reading your experiences just cements that. And I have heard sooo many times about Earthlings!! Fortunately, I already made the choice after I saw this SUPER powerful video (http://uncooking101.com/site/veganism/compelling-video-about-veganism/).

:-)

I'm not due until October, so I have a ways to go!

BTW -- the spinach apple soup sounds delish! I bet it would be nice with pears too! That sounds like a good alternative for a usual green smoothie actually!! AND the spicy tomato basil! YUMMERS!

OMG and the blueberry cheesecake! lol! You're killing me, every new page!

OMG, now the crackers and milkshake!? Nice!!

W00t -- OMG, that sounds so painful! That is really good info. I've heard to be sure not to eat lots of spinach but to instead "rotate" your greens really well. lol, Funny -- you warned us about spinach -- then told us straight up you won't avoid them. LOVE IT. Perfectly sensible to just be smart about it!!

And hey! You found that one vegan blog, it's somebody! Good person to connect with!!

effortlessvegan -- Mmmmm, recipes. Do you have Alissa's book? I don't know if it's her recipe or my mom's but you can make a lovely pesto with fresh herbs, olive oil, and salt, then stuff it in mushrooms and dehydrate. YUM. SO EASY and so delicious!!

You have a B&B!! I didn't realize that! Very cool! I was operating a raw-ish B&B last year and just LOVED it! So much fun!

Your cinnamon raisin almond balls sound like a delight! And so easy! Do you ever share your treats at the B&B? (If you don't mind me being so nosy! lol!)

And you are doing the CSA! Awesome!!! And yeah, I totally love the internet and connecting this way. It boggles my mind! SO COOL! lol!

So much to be thankful for!!

Kathy -- Renee might be good to ask about posting images. :) I have nooo idea, but I need to figure it out soon b/c I want to share more yummy pictures like all the cool cats are doing here! lol!

cc4me19 -- AWESOME!!!

GlimR -- I hope your long night's sleeps will be a pattern to begin! Sounds like you are getting into it!

I got a good laugh at your situation, I hope you don't mind. You just tell it in such a funny way! Good to not even have a REASON to THINK about berating yourself! You are the queen of the world! ;)

BlackKat -- Glad your skin is looking awesome! Sometimes we get a mixed back, but sticking it out you're going to be making more magic soon enough!! You're doing awesome!! It's good that you are listening to your body! If it tells you to rest, why not rest? You are going to get through this!

Can't wait to hear how the oil pulling works for you... I'm pulling RIGHT now! lol!

By the way, have you tried any of the raw restaurants in Chicago? Or my friend Linda's box (http://uncooking101.com/site/contributor/linda-szarkowski/)? You have sooo much at your disposal there!!!

NYC Elerunner -- WELCOME!! Better late than never, I say! Sounds like you are REALLY indulging in some yummy food!!!

changeisgood -- Sigh. So jealous of the popcorn! Hey, you know you can make coconut milk yourself out of shreds and water? It works like a charm, although it's not a perfect sub. Just in case that's a help to you! :)

AWESOME re: you know... the sore, the energy, the darkness, the sleep, the constipation! You deserve all the best!!

P.S. I just saw your cake and photo! You are sooo pretty!!!! And your cake isn't half bad either! lol!

Clara -- Sounds lke you're doing fabulous! Thanks for checking in!

Escape Artist -- Today is a new day! You will get more and more posiitve as the days go on. I know it! You CAN do this. We CAN do this!!!

Monk -- Good moooorning! You are doing soooo flippin' awesome! You CAN do anything! Whoot whoot!!

BDraw -- Nice to see you! My thoughts on the weight loss thing? You didn't ask, but I'm throwin' 'em on out there... Relax into it. Focus on the good you are doing -- sometimes our mental frustration about it can ACTUALLY affect our weight loss or lack thereof. The craziest thing! And seriously, 19 days 100% raw! You are well on your way, just give it time! And ENJOY the food you are eating!

meowimacat -- TOTALLY -- My period's are now nonexistant thanks to the whole preggers thing, but I was SHOCKED at how raw brought them down to NOTHING. SO EASY!!!!!! It's totally amazing! It's because our bodies and hormones find a better balance!

Your pancakes look yummy, by the way! ;-)

I_am_there TWO LITERS of green smoothie to start! Wowee, you're not playing around!

The FOOD
So far today I haven't eaten anything and it's already 12:30. That could explain the massive drool fest in this thread! lol! But no worries, the moment I submit this, I'll head over to the cafe to eat!

YESTERDAY, I had a few salads, a coconut smoothie, and a liter of green smoothie. It was a pretty simple day. Today I'm wanting to indulge a bit more!!

My MOOD
We went dancing last night, late, because it's Carnaval here. I was having fun for a bit, but when more people arrived, I was intensely grossed out. I could smell everyone's sweat and the meat coming out of the pores. Plus their colognes. I know I'm more sensitive to smell because I'm pregnant, but this was horrific. I am actually in a good mood regardless today! So much fabulous stuff going on!

But I'm tired after very little sleep and the attack of the smells. This was the first and will be the last time for many months that I allow myself to be indoors in a situation like this. And I am just going to have to get adequate rest every night! No way around it.

Doing GREAT on the raw front, though. My husband was being a touch annoying yesterday. (He's not any more perfect than I am, I confess! lol!) I found myself wanting to reach for something cooked, so I grabbed a green smoothie and bolted before I could even consider actually giving into temptation. Good move! I can't imagine how I'd feel today if I had given in!

Going to take a nap on the office sofa in a bit, and I'm sure I'll feel as zipper as usual afterwards! :)

Eva - since you have been craving onions and bread, you should make Matt Amsden's raw onion bread! It is so satisfying and tastes just like the real thing (ahem, better than the real thing).

Ingredients:
3 yellow onions, large
1 cup flax seeds (golden, brown or a combo), ground
1 cup raw sunflower seeds, ground in a food processor
˝ cup Braggs Liquid Aminos or Nama Shoyu
Ľ cup cold pressed olive oil

Preparation:
Peel and half the onions. Slice in a food processor (with slicing disc).
Place onions in large bowl and mix with rest of ingredients until thoroughly combined.
Spread mix over a Teflex sheet and repeat until all of mixture is used (I usually end up using 2 sheets).
Dehydrate at 100°F for 24 hours. Flip and return to dehydrator for 12 hours.
Cut into 9 equal pieces (2 cuts horizontally, 2 cuts vertically). Usually makes 18 pieces.

Hi! THANK YOU!!! You are so sweet to dig that up for me. I found out yesterday, that much to my surprise, recipe links are not to be posted unless you can just copy/paste the whole thing onto the board.

In any case, I have heard of that recipe many times but never tried it b/c I'm not a fan of recipes that use NS or Bragg's for a large source of flavor.

But now in Brazil, waiting patiently (not really! lol! I'm tapping my feet!) for my dehydrator, I would be thrilled to have Matt's onion bread! It's been so long since I've had my hands on raw bread, and it's been such an inconvenience. I'm so used to the comforts! But it's good -- it's good to see how many people live -- not every raw foodie has a D and access even to NS!

:) P.S. Happily bread-free for many days and not looking to do it again. I just thought pregnancy was "different" and I "should" listen to my cravings. But the biggest way it's different? The emotions! lol, Now is the last time I should pay attention to the naughty requests my cravings are making!

Hello everyone, I'm jumping in here. A little late but better late than never. I had a wonderful autumn last year and was about 75% raw for 6 weeks. Then SAD set in (in more ways than one) and I am again feeling sad. This time I am ready to commit to it full on and prepare for all the wonderful changes taking place in my life. (Also just started studying Buddhism and am moving to Korea in two months). Here's to raw, may my diet finally be a source of joy and not one of suffering. (I will start tomorrow, just wanted to say hi real quick)

I'm feeling so discouraged today... My skin is worse than ever, and this flu won't go away. Sorry to bring all my negativity in here but I am so bloody sick of having acne. The only time that I share raw recipes or even just vegan recipes is if guests are curious. In the morning I'm drinking my green smoothie while preparing and serving breakfast for guests and if they are curious then I'll explain, and offer them a glass. Most guests are amazed it tastes so good. All the baked goods at the inn are vegan, and I make a meatless sausage as a side option. Guests are unaware they are eating vegan baked goods and when they ask for the recipe, I chime in that it's vegan. I've found preaching accomplishes nothing, it's best to lead by example. " Eat raw and they will ask."

I don't have Alissa's book but I'm definitely going to get it. Thanks! My only son was born in October, the 25th, 27 years ago and was raised vegan against my doctor's advice. Is this your first?

Good evening to All!!

Hope all is well!

Here is what I ate today:

B- Green smoothie make with kale, banana, raw protein powder, vitamineral green, cacao nibs.

L- Cashew dip with apples & celery for dipping. I absolutely love  cashew butter. I mixed it with water to get the consistency of a dip. YUM!!

D- Salad made with romaine, carrots, daikon radish, red peppers, avocado, fresh squeezed lemon juice.

I tried my hand at a cream of mushroom soup, which turned out not too bad. Just rich, and I am finding that with the soups I have been making; just too rich!! However, it did taste just like cold cream of mushroom soup.

I've been pretty busy and of course it was my exercise time that got put aside. Today I began again and I'm hoping to keep it up. I did 20 minutes of kettlebells. Kettlebells are kind of a double whammy, you're muscle and core training in a way that helps you with everyday chores ( for me lifting and throwing bales of hay for the horses) and cardio. I only need to d0 20 minutes a day and it burns 20 calories a minute.

Well, anyway on with the food.

B - Green Smoothie
L - mixed green salad with watermelon, tamari ginger dressing
D - Walnut pate and brushetta stuffed in romaine lettuce leaves. cheezy spinach soup, raw chocolate pudding.

Hey Ya'll...looks like lots of fun today...Blueberries and pancakes and onion bread Oh my!!! Got to make some onion bread this week for the Sunday school get together on Saturday night. Speaking of blueberries, I made that Berry Jumble recipe again. So fabulous! My DH thought I cheated and put butter in it. It acutally taste buttery! mmmmm!

Todays eats
B-Banana Papaya Pudding
S-apple
GS-apple, kale, lemon
L-Morning Smoothie
S-Fudge Ball and 1 zucchini cracker
D-Grapefruit Avocado Salad
S-Fudge Balls

I am loving the challenge. I find that it is rather simple. I just have to avoid a couple things. But on Saturday at the bookeeping service job I really have to be on my toes. Lots of sad junk. I think of this month as my chance to clean out from wheat. 30 days of no wheat...awesome. Until tomorrow!

WooHoo Everybody!! :woohoo:

This thread has really taken off & it's sooooo nice to see all the participation & support going on here :heart

Today I had:
Breakfast: Cup of tea & smoothie (with strawberries added)
Lunch: Homemade kombucha, a couple spoonfuls of the raw chili I made last night & didn't eat all of.....and about 4 date coconut rolls.....

When I got home from work I made a cup of kava kava tea - to chill out before I had to teach yoga.....

I just got home from teaching yoga & decided I'd better use up the mangoes I had.....they weren't very good ones...they had a "rubbery" texture.....I had 7 mangoes....2 were bad in the center, so I only had a couple bites of what was good......so, 5 "not-so-awesome" mangoes for dinner & now I'm going to have a cup of tea.....

Food is just not "doing it" for me lately....I could care less....lol

Hope everyone is having a great Day 8!!!

Hi everyone - feel like I missed the gathering !

I'll probably miss some of you - but my heart is with you all. It seems on this thread the past couple of pages 'stuff' has been going on with many, same is going on around my circle of people. Some planet must have moved and is affecting us!

Monk - I know how you feel - I could care less about food. Give me an apple and a GS and call it good!

I was up at three preparing the blueberry crumble which I thought the party was today (I really was headed into my office to do work while the world was quiet) I had plenty of water with loads of lemon. I had a few bites of pineapple that was soooo good. And a few flax crackers until it got to lunch time.
I had a piece of the crumble which I warmed in the dehydrator and an apple.
For dinner I made a smoothie with some of the crumble and added oj and bee pollen, and a bit more shredded coconut. And a few pieces of pineapple.

I tasted the coconut oil since I was using it for the crumble, it had a lard taste to it with an after taste of coconut. Am I supposed to melt it first before doing the oil pulling? Lead the way.....

Pippin - that mushroom soup looked delicious - are there nuts and/or avocado in it? If so, what could I replace them with to thicken it abit? I love mushroom soup.

And effortless - the stuffed mushrooms sound sooo good. I'm not a fan of raw mushrooms - so I could stuff something else.

Eva - I feel like we are all part of your pregnancy, it's so exciting ! I love the smell of a baby's head. It's so hard to take my eyes off a newborn, they are amazing to watch - feels so pure. :heart

NYC - onion bread sounds good - could I leave out sunflower ? (no nuts and flax is the only seed I eat right now)
I have onion rings in the Degydrator now. The house stunk when I came home, but looks really good! I only sprinkled himalayan salt.

Well, I'm fading fast. :wuv That's me trying to keep my eyes open ! Just wanted to post and say my hello's to all. :throwhearts:

BTW -- the spinach apple soup sounds delish! I bet it would be nice with pears too! That sounds like a good alternative for a usual green smoothie actually!! AND the spicy tomato basil! YUMMERS!

Hey Eva, I would hope and pray that no one have to watch Earthlings in order to be convinced to go vegan. It was extremely painful to watch. I tried not looking at certain parts, but then after a while even the sounds were unbearable. Finally I had to start skipping through portions of it. I cried during, and continued to sob afterward. All I felt I could do was say out loud for all the animals that ever suffered and still suffer is "Forgive Me for ever having any part of this".

Yes, the spinach apple soup is the best so far! The others have been too rich.

Hi everyone - feel like I missed the gathering !

Pippin - that mushroom soup looked delicious - are there nuts and/or avocado in it? If so, what could I replace them with to thicken it abit? I love mushroom soup.

Hey changeisgood. Nice to have a face to connect with the name. I haven't figured out how to put a picture in the messages.

To make the mushroom soup, i made some brazil nut milk. I dehydrated the mushrooms for about 8 hours, this made them taste more like cooked mushrooms. And basically that is it, plus a pinch of salt & pepper & dash of garlic powder. I used a lot of mushrooms to make it thick. How about instead of nut milk, use a seed milk instead?? Like maybe hemp? I wonder if sunflower seed milk would work? Um...

Day 7
11am - green smoothie
2pm - handful of goji berries
3pm - a little applesauce w. maca and hemp protein
9 pm - green smoothie

Day 8
9am - cucumber-apple-juice
11am - green smoothie
2pm - sea spaghetti w. avocado + leafy greens (straight from the bag again!)
3pm - orange juice
8pm - green smoothie

6855

Triple gratitude list:
1) First ever taste of sea spaghetti - it was totally tortellini!
2) Going skiing for a few hours in late afternoon sun.
3) Magic of little things falling in place, like having to reschedule something & it turning out to be even better timing for the other person.

Changeisgood - I love that photo of you & the blueberry pie. You both look so fresh! From what I've heard, maca would be good to counteract stress, since it replenishes adrenalin (or does something to that effect). Also, interesting comment about planetary moves to bring up "stuff" - makes me think of something I heard about how planets in retrograde are going on a vision quest of sorts; bringing up denser material to transmute, etc.
Eva - Congratulations on the pregnancy, what an amazing welcome you are making for the little precious one by your raw journey! And you're actually living in Brazil...wow. Eat a coconut for me, will you!?
Renee - Thanks for using your rawsome energy to whirl up a blueberry-feast! There are blackcurrants in my freezer, so I'll join the pie-party with those.
GlimR - Congratulations to partying on strawberries & other vitality boosters rather than what was offered at the dinner party! It takes a lot of strength to make strong choices.
BlackKat - Hope your headache dissolves! I love that Gangaji-quote in your signature; makes me think of the musicality at the very core of being.
Escapeartist - No need to aplogise for sharing - I don't find negativity but sincerity in your post. You're so brave, keep at it!
Monkapotapus - Congratulations on the release, both of taxes & pounds! Sounds like you're currently leaning towards the prana diet, lol.
Pippin - That tomato-tahini dressing looks yummy.
Meowimacat - Congratulations on softer moontime. I notice that too with raw. Btw, I'm currently reading a book called "The Wild Genie", about approaching menstruation as an opportunity to receive & channel cyclic energy.
BDraw - 19 days, that's great! I've started to think about the reasons I've gone off raw before, since I just can't imagine not doing this now.
Steven - Welcome on board - sounds like a healthy & tasty day of eating.
DawnD - How cool that you are bringing onion bread to the church gathering...I imagine how rawfood inspiration is showing up in different places all through the web of society.
Queenkel - Dancing one minute, crying the next? Sounds normal to me, when the high velocity energy is rushing through the system... Empathy for the epidermis & good luck with the oil pulling! (Lots of water, ginger, dry brushing?)
Reina - Buddhism & moving to Korea - wow! "Sad" be gone, for sure.
Tito - So cool to be able to eat out at restaurants with raw choices.
NYC Elerunner - Thanks for the recipe, I remember doing that a few years ago & it was delicious. Time for another batch, methinks.
RawSar - Oh, I didn't know that about flax, thanks for alerting us!
Effortless Vegan - I popped over to your blog - the inn looks just lovely & I imagine all those guests you reach with friendly vegan inspiration & alternatives that they might never have tried otherwise. Great work!

Hello beautiful day and beautiful people! :excited: Glad to be here and enjoying my first morning of raw and all the mornings yet to come.

Practicing mindful eating as I am drinking a smoothie of bananas, strawberries and napa cabbage - already had two bananas with almond butter. (I am a morning eater and I probably will eat a hefty amount of fat - still breastfeeding a 14 mo that nurses like a newborn and it helps ease the transition.) Headed off to the health food store this morning to get a couple treats...

Won't make that mistake again. Didn't get home till after five and was exhausted. Finished my day w/nacho cheeze and flax crackers....so yummy.

Will post later but wanted to wish everyone a wonderful raw day!!!!:heart

Hi Everyone!

Yesterday's menu: Breakfast: GS (kale, mango, spirulina, aloe, yacon and lucuma); Lunch: Onion Bread and 2 apples; Dinner: picked while preparing meals for the week (can't eat a full meal after all that "tasting").

I made buckwheat crackers (pictured below), finished my herb cheese (cheese and cracker party anyone?), brocolli with "tempura" sauce, kelp noodles with avocado dressing, zucchini and coconut wraps (for another meal this week) and spinach sauce (to use with the wraps). Sounds like a lot, but it didn't take too much time to prepare.

I've been making raw meals for my husband, and without knowing it, he has gone almost 100% raw these past few days. I hope he will start snacking on the crackers and leave his SAD snacks behind. This is how he became vegan (although it didn't need to take much convincing once he saw the ethical and health benefits behind it). I am sure that all of my recent positive energy will rub off on him as well. I was never much of a drinker, but now I won't even think of a glass of wine after a rough day. I also noticed that I am staying away from the negative energy (and people) at work which makes a big difference in my attitude.

Change is Good - You may be able to soak and dehydrate buckwhat to use in place of the sunflower seeds for the onion bread - I haven't tried it, but it should hold up the same (and it may be a little hardier). Do you eat buckwheat?

Clara - Wow! what are those sea noodles and where can I get them? They look amazing!

Hope you are all having a great day

Hello Everyone--Haven't posted in a day or too, but still eating RAW and loving it!!I had my first Green Smoothing yesterday which included a banana, frozen blueberries and some frozen strawberries and about two handfuls of spinach. It was AMAZING, I am so glad I finally tried it because now there is no going back! I am going to rely on GS's this weekend and you guys for motivation because I am going on vacation with my parents, my sister and her husband and 2 month old, and my brother.

They aren't the healthiest people in the whole world but hopefully they will respect my choice of eating RAW and won't make me an outcast. Luckily we are going to our vacation home in Oregon and so I will have a full kitchen, which is an upside. I am bringing my juicer and the house already has a blender. I am driving up to my parents' place tomorrow morning, going to make my juice prior to leaving (or maybe I'll make it tonight so I don't have to clean my juicer at 7 in the morning!) and then when I get home around 1ish I will make a protein smoothie, and then my dad is going to drive me the rest of the way, so I will do homework and munch on fruit and almonds. Then it is a family tradition to go to this pizza place called Blondies the first night we arrive, and my dad is OCD and will never give up any sort of 'tradition' EVER, so I politely told him to order me a garden salad with no cheese or dressing, and of course my mom is in the back ground going 'what about protein dear', I try and tell her every time I see them that you can find protein in green leafy vegetables just as much or more as you can in meat! They are also big on beer and bloody mary's in the morning, (and I love bloody's just as much as the next guy, so that will probably be my biggest hurdle). This weekend will surely be a test of my RAW sincerity!! I will be on this forum a bunch for motivation and I’ll keep ya’ll posted on my every meal!!!

Hello to All !

So far - this AM I juiced with hubby and then made mine into a smoothie -
collard greens, parsley, carrot, beets, lemon, ginger. I added bee pollen, hemp seeds, spirulina, and fo-ti. See Monk, I looked this up and liked what I read - so now it's part of my smoothies - I open capsules.
Snacked on a few flax seed crackers.
Just finished a salad for lunch - I added apple since I love it with tahini dressing I made.
I'm going to make the mushroom soup for dinner - I'll use coconut milk and some white miso. I tasted my dehydrated mushrooms - WOW! Tastes great ! So happy, I don't like raw mushrooms. So, this is wonderful. It's sounding like a Thai recipie in the workings.
kiwi. Plenty of water thru the day.

I want sea spegetti also. How does it taste, what did you put on it.

Escape - I didn't think your post was negative. This is a great place to share/vent and we're all in this together.

ClaraVerde - There is a taoist practice for mentruation.

Reina - Lucky you, studying Buddhism. I lived at a monestary, upstate NY for a year and did the cooking. Amazing experience I wanted the real thing and I got it. Rec'd my initiations. They would open the speaker in the kitchen so I could hear the teachings. They posted large sheets of language practice to cover my cabinets, so I could practice. They told me to stick to cooking ! LOL!
My first experience was when I walked thru the front door, I felt my life long depression leave. It was amazing. Rec'd family healings as well.
Had to leave due to 9/11 - needed to be closer to family in case of emergency. Best Wishes.

Gotta go. Speak to you all later. :throwhearts:

What a great idea to use coconut milk instead of nut milk. Let us know how it turns out. And miso, what a great idea. I knew my mushroom soup was missing something..and I even have some miso. Well, next time. I am with you on the raw mushrooms, that is why I dehydrated mine, and they taste so yummy that way. Good luck with the soup!

Catching up on my raw menu, haven't eaten much the last days and not feeling myself very well...

Day 7
- a cup of orange+lemon juice
- rye sprouts, tomato, cucumber, olives
- sesame biscuits

Day 8
- a cup of orange+lemon juice
- tarator (the raw variant of a Bulgarian cold soup made of yoghurt, cucumbers, dill, etc)
- sesame biscuits
- pumpkin hummus wrapped in lettuce leaves

Day 9
- an orange
- 2 apples
- almonds
- 2 cups coconut milk
- mixed salad: purple and white cabbage, red and white turnips, celery root, carrot, green onions, garden rocket, parsley, olive oil

03-09-2011, 04:40 PM
So for my day one:

2 bananas, one with almond butter
GS - banana, napa cabbage, strawberries
another banana with nut butter
salad - romaine, cucumber, almond slices, sunflower seeds, strawberries
banana, dash olive oil
apple w/ nut butter, carrots, strawberries

and nibbled on a piece of raw lemon chiffon cake all day (delicious! I don't have the recipe - bought it from a local cafe that distributes raw desserts to our local organic market.)

Overall, it was a great day. Had a pounding headache this morning but I think that was from lack of coffee. It went away after a nap. Food tasted great, loved it. Sipped on tea too because I was a little chilled.

I am still amazed how easy it is for me this time around -- wondering why. No. . . being very thankful!!!

Still keeping things super simple. . .

B -- 2 banannas
L -- 2 oranges
S -- apple with almond butter and raisens

Love readying all the post! So encouraging!

Eva -- I never use Braggs in my onion crackers. Still it is good. I just can't handle the the house smelling like onions now days, nor the tears caused by cutting up all of those onions (food processor). I have used the same basic recipe using apples instead of onions. Very good. Hm-m-m-m, maybe I'll to that.

Clara - Thanks for the epidermis empathy, lol. I'm feeling better today; just needed to whine a little.

EV - Thanks for the tip! I actually don't use moisturizer anymore because it was making my skin pretty oily but I will take a look at that.

B - 2 tangelos and a banana
L - carrot, beet, cucumber, parsley, bok choy juice
D - soup, salad, or nori rolls

Not much time to make an elaborate post, just reading thru everyone's posts for the last 2 days.

Been going strong the last couple of days, my evenings are the tough part of the day. I'm beginning to think that my headaches are due to my vision... I haven't been to the eye doc. in a long time, and I'm over due. My glasses don't seem strong enough, and I think my contacts aren't strong enough either.

Its also that awesome time of month where I feel crabby, and want to eat everything in sight- but I'm staying strong.

lots of fruit today (i think I may need to cut back on sugar, and add more veggies)
2 salads
cacao nibs. nom nom

Yum - I am definitely going to try using apples instead of onions for the bread!

Today:
B: GS (spinach, banana, aloe, spirulina, lacuma and yacon powders); buckwheat crackers; cacao w/ stevia and almond milk
L: apples and an orange; iced herbal tea w/ stevia (keeps away the cravings for artificial drinks)
D: zucchini/coconut wraps w/ veggies and spinach sauce and nori snacks; sliver of pecan turtle cheesecake (Sweet Gratitude)

I've been a vegetarian for 3 years and I am quite looking forward to trying the raw diet to improve my health and hopefully drop some weight as well. I plan on starting either Saturday or Sunday as I need to do my research on what I can or can't eat and go grocery shopping. Looking forward to talking to everyone! It has been helpful reading the posts to see what everyone has been eating throughout the day.

CC4Me-I went to a class reunion at a restaurant last Saturday night. I told the waitress that I wanted a salad with romain lettuce and anything raw in the kitchen-no pickled veges, cheese and such. Have a great weekend with your family.

Happy day 9 all you raw foodies!!

I'm feeling really great today!!! Still don't have the energy I used to have back in the day, but am getting better. My dinner tonight made me feel especially good and I am working on my dessert as I type.

am- green juice of kale, collards, dandelion greens, cucumbers, diakon radish, red pepper, celery, and carrots. It was pretty darn potent; could have used more carrots to take the edge off, but I drank it anyway.:juicy:

B- 5 oranges & 2 brazil nuts.

L- Smoothie, almond milk, raspberries, bananas, raw protein powder, maca, cacao nibs, and vitamineral green.

D- Tasted way better than I anticipated.....dont' really have a name but it was avocado, tomato, broccoli sprouts, sprinkled with raw seasonings stuffed in romaine leaves, along with apple caraway sauerkraut (purchased at WF). Ohhhhh sooo yummy!!:drool: this one gets a double drool. ;-)

I am having dessert tonight; the raw chocolate cheese cake purchased at WF. I am in raw food heaven!! :eat

Pippin - the mushroom soup was delicious ! :woot: it's a keeper.

I used 2 c coconut milk, used the dehydrated mushrooms from one package. I added light miso to taste. I added a little celtic sea salt to bring out the flavor. I thickened it a little with a small amount of chia seeds, then let it sit to get to room temp (milk was cold). I added dulse, but I would have preferred a different seaweed, like the one they put in the japanese miso soup. The dulsse was too heavy for this soup.
Do you know which seaweed I'm referring to - I want to get it next time at HFS.

I have to share my dinner with you all.

I took sweet potatoes... and used my 'french fry slicer' to make it into fry cuts.

Then I put it into a big bowl... drizzled with Udo's 3-6-9 oil and some Apple Cider Vinegar... smoked sea salt, cumin, curry and cayenne were generously sprinkled on top... then I tossed it all together.

I was going to put some avocado on it - to coat (which I'm going to do tomorrow) but instead I put it into a pottery pie plate and popped it into a slightly warm oven (turned off) for 35 minutes. (I don't have access to my dehydrator at the moment or I would have used it).

Then I took it out of the oven and enjoyed every morsel!!! I even licked the plate after!!!

mmmm mmmm gooooooooooood.

Before I start with my meals from yesterday - Day 9 - I want to share this recipe that I may try this evening. I found it on Yummy Plants and it was donated Chef Hilary Zozula
from the Juice Box Cafe.

Zucchini Spaghetti with Marinara Sauce & Carrot Walnut Meatballs

Ingredients for “meat” balls:
1 cup walnuts
2 cups chopped carrots
1 cup wild mushrooms
1/2 cup nutritional yeast
1/3 cup flax seeds (ground)
1 clove garlic
Ingredients for marinara sauce:
1 cup of dry sun dried tomatoes
2 regular tomatoes
2 cloves of garlic
1 cup of fresh basil leaves
salt to taste

1. Preparation for “meat” balls:

2. Blend walnuts carrots, garlic and mushrooms in food processor until
smooth.

3. Transfer to a bowl and mix in nutritional yeast and flax seed. Leave in
in the fridge for an hour to set.

4. Once firm, divide the mixture into small ball shapes. Place in fridge
for another hour to set.

5. Preparation for marinara sauce:

6. Soak sun dried tomatoes in warm water for an hour or so until soft. Do
not discard the soak water.

7. Put tomatoes (without the water) in blender with remaining ingredients.
Add the soak water slowly and blend until smooth and liquid ( like tomato
sauce).

8. Ingredients for zucchini “spaghetti”

9. small zucchini

10. Preparation for zucchini “spaghetti”:

11. Remove the ends but do not peel. Use a mandolin to make very thin
continuous strips of the zucchini.

12. Arrange carefully on serving plate and top with sauce. Garnish with
fresh basil.

So yesterday I ate:

Day 9 - Breakfast - Green Smoothie with kale, spinach, hemp protein, wheatgrass powder, banana, 4 dates, rejuvelac (homemade sprouted wheat berry water for probiotics & enzymes), soaked hazelnuts, frozen field berries.

Lunch - I used romaine lettuce leaves like a piece of bread and spread walnut pate and topped with brushetta, fold in half, eat. Dessert: raw chocolate pudding

Dinner - a salad with spring greens, cubed watermelon, grapes, clementines and tamari ginger dressing.

Morning!

Everyone's food looks so good.

So far today I've made 1/2 gallon of juice w/watermelon, lime and frozen strawberries.....so good. Had 1 qt. already and will have the rest later. I think I have enough watermelon to make another qt or so. I'm going to make cranberry/almond slaw for lunch or dinner and hopefully some marinated kale salad. I have a bunch of ripe avocados so maybe avocado chutney and/or cacao avocado pudding. Also need to make some kind of salad dressing to have on hand. I need to make the frosting for the moonie pies so I can take a pic for you guys...so incredible! Will be making some fresh almond milk too...goes great with the moonie pies!

I felt so great yesterday afternoon....better than I have in a long time!

Good day, second day for me. Still detoxing a little - weird leg aches and kind of tired - could be from caffiene withdrawal though too.

banana and nut butter
GS - cabbage, cucumber, coconut milk, celery, grapes, banana
another banana and nut butter
Marinated veggies topped in walnuts and ground flax
banana and nut butter
pineapple and olives
salad - romaine, cucumber, almonds, sunflower seeds, olive oil, raisins, avo
kind of picking at this marvelous smelling cinnamon apple bread I have dehydrating - mmmm the dough is so tasty.

It looks like a lot of food when I write it all out here but it didn't really seem like it. Couldn't do without my bananas and nut butter though - they are my comfort food. I think my DD is allergic to tomatoes so I am avoiding them but I kind of miss them in my salads. :(

I didn't have walnuts so I used a combo of other nuts for the meatballs and put them in the dehydrator for just 30 minutes to firm it up a bit (yum!)

B: GS (Spinach, Cucumber, Banana, Spirulina)
S: Apple
L: Apple, Orange and Herbal Tea
D: Buckwheat Crackers with Cashew Cheese, Tomato and Basil; Zucchini Pasta with Marinara sauce and "Meat"Balls (thanks to Effortless!)

What is your recipe for the cinnamon apple bread? Can you post it? I would love to try it!

Hope everyone has a great day~

I was wondering if you had the recipe for the moonie pies? I used to love Whoopie pies! Would love to try them!

Im so glad I found a great chocolate pudding recipe that works! This was such a great snack after a long day. I attached a picture, and also here is what I put in it:

2 bananas
1 avocado
3 tbsp raw honey
1/8 cup cacao powder

All you have to do is throw everything in the blender and mix until smooth. I chilled mine for 30 minutes before eating in the fridge.

I had my smoothie this morning, just my powdered mixes with water because my bananas aren't ripe yet.....

I didn't get a lunch at work, because it was too busy....had a kombucha instead....

When I got home from work I had another kombucha before I had to teach my yoga class....

I just got home from yoga & now I'm finally hungry....
I mashed up 2 small avocados spritzed with braggs & nutritional yeast....added some cherry tomatoes.....I'm going to eat them with the jalapeno corn chips from Raw Food Real World book....they are my favorite....

Hi all!

Every thing looks and sounds wonderful!! :eat

B- vitameral green mixed with water. 5 oranges, 3 brazil nuts.

L- Banana/raspberry smoothie with raw protein powder, maca, cacao nibs.

D- I was hungry and lazy at 4:30, so that is when I had dinner. I had avocado on onion bread topped with apple caraway kraut. I swear I think anything would taste fantastic with that sauerkraut on it.

I will be so happy when the day arrives that I am once again energetic and sleeping well. I am going to have some blood test done; to hopefully pinpoint what this ongoing fatigue is about, and or rule out any deficiencies.

Dawn - can I make the fudge balls with carob - is so, I'd love the recipe.

During the winter we had so much rain in the desert (St. George), we were declared a national emergency and were given I think $20+million dollars to do repairs from the gov't. A couple of days ago it was hailing!

Everyone's pictures look amazingly delicious!

My chips weren't ready for dinner, so I made up a tomato, basil, parsley salad with oil, celtic seasalt. I sliced zucchini as thin as could be and marinated it for awhile with the salad. And it was so fresh and delicious. I thought I hated zucchini, but this actually was delicious.

I'm so full from dinner, but I had to sample my chips to check for doneness. Yum! I know I'll enjoy a 'BLT' tomorrow and plenty of chips on the side!

Question for anyone who may know - since I don't eat bananas and I want to make the cinn pancakes - if I thickened coconut milk and used that in its place, do you think it would work?

:throwhearts:

Let us know if it does! That's a tricky one because I know the bananas help to hold the pancake together. The flax alone might do the trick but then it might not. The banana in them really makes the pancake too. Here's a recipe that might work good as a pancake too. It turned out really well even though i don't have a proper dehydrator. Very yummy but I might take the cinnamon down a notch next time, they were quite cinammony. Sorry, I would post a pic but my computer crashed this morning. :( Very upset about that.

Here's the recipe and since I have to give props but can't post a link - I found it on busy vegan.com

Cinnamon Raisin Bread

In a food processor combine:
2 apples, peeled, cored and sliced
2 cups almonds, soaked 4 hours to overnight
1 cup honey dates, pitted and soaked at least 1 hour
1/4 cup date soak water
2 tbsp cinnamon
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp agave nectar (I used raw honey)

Blend until a thick dough is formed. Then mix in 1 cup raisins by hand (optional).

On a teflex sheet, spread the dough out evenly in a large circle, about 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick. Dehydrate for 10 hours. To flip, place the mesh dehydrator sheet on the dried side of the bread. Hold together with teflex sheet and flip. Then peel the teflex sheet off. The "gooey" side of the bread is now facing up and you no longer need the teflex sheet. Dehydrate the bread on this side for another 10 hours.

You could definitely form this into pancakes or even cookies I think and dehydrate not as long. In fact, before it was done and when it was just a touch warm, I scraped some off and put it over bananas. Oh my gosh, so yummy - almost better than the dehydrated product.

I've been in and out of here checking you all out (and seriously, check ya'll out! DOING AWESOME!!) but haven't had to time to properly say hello.

Sorry!! (Not that you were all hanging by the edge of your seats to see my food regimen! lol!) I'm dealing with my first morning sickness, which is apparently actually very good baby-wise, but momma-wise is UGH not so good. But I'll take it since no morning sickness means you're more likely to lose your baby. (So SAD!)

SO, all raw today but fighting hard to stick with it. I've been having cravings, and it turns out that potatoes have huge amounts of B6, which helps with morning sickness. Luckily, avocados have some too so I'm all over the avos.

Today I had TWO coconut waters (cracked open two huge coconuts), 2 green smoothies, a HUGE guacamole, a fresh orange juice, and a fresh apple juice with cinnamon.

Hope you all are doing SUPER DUPER! You're in my thoughts!!!

I just received this recipe in my email from Rawmazing and I can't wait to get my dehydrator so I can try some recipes I've collected. This recipe really does look amazing.

Onion Rings

Almond Milk:

* 1 C soaked almonds
* 4 C water

Combine soaked almonds and water in blender. Strain through nutmilk bag. Save the pulp and dehydrate it.

Onion rings

* 1 Large Onion
* 4 C Almond Milk
* 3/4 C Almond Milk Pulp
* 1 C Ground Flax (3/4 C before grinding)
* 1 T. Smoked Paprika
* 1/2 t Ground Chipotle
* 1/2 t Salt

Slice onions and place in zip lock bag with almond milk. Soak while pulp is dehydrating. When pulp is done dehydrating, place in food processor with flax, spices and salt. Separate into two batches. If you use all of it at once, a lot of it will be come saturated and too wet to use. Splitting it into separate batches protects against waste. Drain onion rings, RESERVING milk. Dip onion ring in the milk, then in the almond flax mixture, dip in milk once again and then in almond flax mixture again to get a heavier coating. Dehydrate for 6 to 8 hours until almost dry. You want the onions to retain a little moisture, the breading should be dry.
