Hello everyone -
I am new to the idea of following a raw diet, but not new to what I would consider knowledgeable regarding healthy foods or beginner level food science. I look forward to learning from all of you that are already committed and loving your way of life!
My husband first became convinced after eatching many food documentaries and being convinced we needed to change our diet to a healthier way of being. Both of us used to be avid weight lifters and exercise fanatics. Over the past three years or so, we began to let go of our health and began to eat more junk/processed crap. I have noticed a dramatic decrease in energy and overall wellbeing and ailments that didn’t ever bother me before.
I am now 12 weeks pregnant and up until now, have been eating what I want when I want, which hasn’t always been nutritious food! I have terrible morning sickness (all day sickness) and was recently given a medication for nausea and to keep food down. I really do not believe in taking medication for this type of thing (or most things for that matter!), I believe a change in diet will at least help with the disgusting symptoms I am having now. My first motivation is for my health and my baby’s development, but also for the duration of our growing family. I very much miss being/feeling healthy, feeling light and fast on me feet and having energy and motivation. I know I let myself get to this point, and I feel ready to turn it around!
My husband has genetically high cholesterol and has been on cholesterol medication for years. We are fortunate to live in a very agriculturally rich area and I am looking forward to all of the fresh produce that will be in abundance in the next couple of months. I just finished reading the 12 Steps to Raw Foods and feel convinced this will be a life changing, necessary next step for me personally and for my family.
