Store bought pinapple juice. It says its 99% pinapple juice. What do you think the rest is and would it make a large impact on my diet... I freaking love pineapple juice.

I love pineapple juice too!!! It takes me an entire pineapple to get one glass of juice though so I don't drink it that often because pineapples around here aren't cheap. This interested me, so I looked it up... this came from pineapple juice.com

"If you've read through our website at all, you've noticed we have tons of articles and information explaining why store bought or processed pineapple juice isn't particularly healthy, and why it can't compare to raw fresh made pineapple juice as far as health benefits are concerned. In fact some store bought packaged pineapple juice is so heavily processed, that it is actually vitamin fortified, as all of the fruit's natural health properties have been permanently deactivated during processing. In other cases the processed pineapple juice isn't vitamin fortified, and is mostly sugar water with a light pineapple flavor, with maybe a little pulp that counts as dietary fiber. Since I started juicing ten years ago, I rarely drink processed fruit juices, as my body doesn't need all of the sugar, preservatives, and other unhealthy additives."

That doesnt match with what it says on the container :S

I would juice pinapples too cause fresh juice is awsome!!!!!! But it just doesnt all add up. So many conflicting statements.

What to do what to do :S

Edit: Stuff costs so much money :`( I need to learn how to garden!

If it's in a bottle, can, carton, it's not raw and who knows what else is in it? Pretty sure, one of the ingredients is sugar though. What's it say on the package? They HAVE to list the ingredients. Water? Sugar water? You've got the package.

Even if it is 100% pineapple juice it will be pasteurized and lose most of it's nutritional value. With a slow juicer you can get a few glasses of pineapple juice from one pineapple. I suspect the reply saying only one glass of juice per pineapple is using a Breville or other centrifugal juicer which are very inefficient and destroy most of the nutrition much like pasteurizing it.

store bought juice is crap no matter what it is. of course not all store bought juice is made equal - but its all crap - just to a different extent.

i mean that's like asking - which special combo in McDonalds is the healthiest ? and the answer is - they're all crap.

i actually tried eating salad at a fast food joint - big mistake - it was laced with MSG and after having 3 salads i was more hungry than i was before i started.

home made juice is living food. store juice is dead food. simple as that. if it wasn't dead it would't store for months. they cook it, they x-ray it etc - bottom line is they kill it ( on purpose ).

get a juicer and make real juice.

For once I 100% agree with proteus lol (except I would never eat anything, not even salad, from a fast food place lol)

i would take JUICE out of a centrifugal juicer over store pasteurized crap any day.

on the other hand i wouldn't take a centrifugal JUICER for free.

in fact i have contemplated giving mine away when i got the green star elite, but decided to keep it as emergency backup solution.

i think Omega VERT is a rather obvious choice for a beginning juicer. GSE does a marginally better job juicing but is twice as much work to operate.

Again I fully agree. So you have the green star? I had it but sold it to get the Hurom, the green star is better but it's just too slow and long to clean for me so I barely used it 4 times a year. I use the Hurom much more often so for me it's a better choice, but if you don't mind how slow the green star is to juice and how long it is to clean it's definately a better juicer.

if you love pineapple juice but find that you get too little yield, here's what i do (as an avid faster and lover of pineapple juice).

take one pineapple
apples to equal the amount of juice you get from the pineapple
add 1/4 - 1/2 a long english cucumber
one stalk of kale
ginger (if you love ginger)

You still get the very pineapple taste but the greens even out your sugars and the apples assist this juice to double in size! Try it... I bet you'll love it.

Don't overdo the cucumber... more is not better in this one. (unless you love the taste of cucumber juice which many people do not - they prefer it hidden in other juices)

That is the main reason I drink mostly lemon water and tea. I need to get juicer because real juice taste so much better.
