I'm very new to the raw food diet and tried to search before i posted, but i don't seem to find a proper answer.

I heard that when eating cooked food, your body burns a large part of the food/ calories to be able to digest.

Does that mean that when i eat raw foods, i would need less calories to maintain the same lifestyle ( including muscle growth )?

And if i were to eat 90% raw , would that change anything?

I'd also like to hear opinions on 90% raw and if it would be a waste of time in your opinions.

It's all a bit complicated since calorie requirements are based on your body type and activity level. Raw foods are mostly low in calories to begin with so you want to make sure you eat enough and have enough high calorie foods. Though most don't pay much attention to calories while transitioning to the diet.

Most will say there's a huge difference between 90 and 100%, but 90 will give you benefits as long as the other 10% is still relatively healthy ie: steamed veggies.
