same nutrients just no fibre. that's the only real difference between a carrot and carrot juice. it doesn't take or add anything except the fibre.

I will tell you what I do if it helps.
Assume that I am doing celery. cucumber, greens and an apple.
I weigh each as and I make my container of juice. I then weigh the juice.
I divide the weight of the juice by the total weight of the ingredents and usually get get a figure between 80 and 85 %. I then multiple each of the ingredents by that % and enter that amount.
This is probably not the correct way as the nutrients are probably higher as it is mostly firer that you are discarding.

i disagree.

many people report that juice out of a press or a good twin gear juicer looks and tastes different from juice made by low quality juicers. there are also claims that such juice contains more minerals. there are also claims that 90% of toxins from non-organic produce are left with the fiber after juicing.

all this suggests that juicers separate much more than just fiber.

Proteus.
Does that mean that if you're going to have to buy non organic produce your best bet is to juice instead of blend? Do you have a resource for that info? Very interesting.

if the information is to be believed yes - blend organic and juice non-organic.

here is an example of a company pushing this hype about their juicer:

i haven't seen any studies to confirm this, but logically it *could* be true.

right. i have very low confidence in this information as the source is clearly biased. the only other time i seen this claim was also in the context of a juicer albeit this time from a user, not seller but people tend to have an optimism bias.

A little off topic but wouldnt it be cool every morning to pee in your toilet and have it tell you what you are low on and exactly how low...
And then to make a smoothie/juice/meal and put it up to some device and have it tell you what and how much nutrients, fat%,protein%,cal% etc are in it...

Life would just be way less complicated maybe?

Until then.. I guess we just guesstimate by using charts and what not..

Sorry I couldn't be helpful here... I would think that whole and juiced cant be that different but Ive never looked into it.

Some of the nutrients ARE lost. You only need to look at the colour of the pulp. It has been said that carrots are orange because of the beta carotine. Then if the beta carotine is entirely transfered into the juice the pulp would not have a colour. Same with green vegetables and chlorophile (if thats how you spell it) not that you need that substance but it indicates that more than just fiber has been removed. In saying that I think juiced vegetables are freaking good for you there is no doubt in my mind that they are are one of the best raw foods you can have. The only thing better in my opinion would be raw vegeatbles/fruit whole with nothing done to it at all.

Carrot juice is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good. I love juice but I would never make the statement that the pulp is 100% fiber and the juice is the rest it just doesnt add up.

Anyway thats just my 2 cents :)

Just to say it again I LOVE JUICE!!

I wish that I had a better memory because it is little more than a week since I read this on some internet site but I click on to a lot of sites and I am travelling and using different computers so can not trace it.
I will search and try to find something to back up my previous statement.
I was not being biased. I would love to have the answer to this myself and hope that it is the case that the toxins stay with the fiber but I just wanted people to not be too complacent and start to juice non organic things and feel safe if they are not.
I am tired of being told one thing one day by a so called expert only to find out the next day that it is not so.

you have to be your own expert. that's the only way.
