View Full Version : Feb 2011 Fasting Thread - come join us!

PLEASE... feel free to join this thread any time ... we loooove having new friends to fast with!!!
Here's are the 'rules' of this thread:
Please do not discuss specific food. Feel free to share "My hubby was eating and it was hard for me." Please don't share "My hubby was eating X, Y and Z..."
The reason we do this is so no one ends up getting a craving from a fasting thread. As a faster we can choose to click on a thread which discusses food but we need the safety within this thread to know food is not discussed. Juices are shared, M/C is shared, green smoothie recipes are shared... but not 'chewable' food.
Please join us... by listening to our theme song (http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=2539741). We all come together... from around the world to fast together and support each other. Please join us!
There is a great deal of info in this stickie (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=62026). Please take a moment to read it.
And here is a thread (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=61603) where we share our favourite recipes. If you haven't contributed yours, please do!
Here's my commitment:
I'm here to fast. I'm not here to eat. I will fast until I choose to stop but I will NOT stop my fast on a bad day, at night or today. I can choose to break my fast tomorrow in the morning but not today.
I'm here to gain health.
I'm here to gift my body the time and energy to bring my body to a state of health.
I'm here to release - whatever needs to be released. Physical, emotional, conscious or unconscious out-moded things... I'm here to release them all.
I'm here to bring a greater depth to my spirituality.
I'm here to support myself and others.
I am here to continue to be mindful - focusing on this moment and not anticipating the next one.
I am here to share my experience and gain knowledge from what others share.
I'm here to feel whole. I'm here to give my beautiful, cherished body a break from digesting food!!!
This is the "Fellowship of the Fasters" - unlike the LOTRs fellowship of nine, we are a fellowship of many. We welcome newcomers daily and embrace everyone no matter what they are fasting on or their personal beliefs.
Yes you can prefer green juices to fruit. Yes you can use agave instead of maple syrup or raw honey. Yes you can juice in your Vita-Mix and use a nut mylk bag to extract your juices.
We don't care how you fast... we want to support you... and in turn, we ourselves get supported... so please... join us!!!
Come on everyone.. join in the fun and grab your Elf, Dwarf, Hobbit or Human names for our "Fellowship of the Fasters"... you just make them up, it isn't from the book/movie. (if you want to participate) and put it in your signature line!

I am ready, willing, and able to begin another fast.
I am hoping to fast until my body asks to be fed solids again.
My desire mentally is for an extended fast. I hope to hold that intention while following the flow of what my body needs/wants.
I have safely broken my last extended fast... I no longer consider myself in the fast breaking mode (which is nice) - so I'm feeling ready to move back into the world of liquids.
I have a drawer full of some really exciting new spices from my sister Lady Aredhel - and I plan to begin enjoying them as of tomorrow!
I am here for spiritual reasons mostly. I want to allow my Self to find a deeper connection with the Goddess. I plan to spend time in meditation, time in my sauna and time alone relaxing in the bath. Listening to Alissa's new CD is going to be a nightly ritual I'll enjoy and treat myself to during this fast (for at least the first 3 weeks possibly longer).
Ahhhhh I am so ready for this. I realized it today... when I was sharing with a raw friend about the foods I no longer WANT to consume. It let me know my body was happy eating but that it was ready to enjoy liquids once again. I love it when my body lets me know it's time. It IS time.

I love new threads...:excited:
I too love fasting for spiritual reasons. I love connectiong to G-d in a way that is deep and real. I also love the feeling of "health" that fasting gives me.
I am placing my bulk produce order again on Tuesday and will start to do mini juice feasting/green smoothie days. Since I'm doing the P0X I can't really do just juices, but I don't want to wait for 3 months to do something. And only doing one day juice feast isn't enough for me ..lol...
Soooo.. I figure I can do juice feasting w/ green smoothies... :woot:
I'm can't wait for you to enjoy all those spices precious... I knows you wants them..

I love a new thread as well Lady Aredhel. It renews my energy and I find more people usually join when there's a new thread... and I love fasting with others so come others... join me!
What a great idea to fast on juice and smoothies Lady A. That'll give you enough energy to do what needs doing! You may even find days when you just want juice. It'll be an interesting experiment for you. Finding what your body wants/needs each day. Are you going to document it? (in detail of amounts etc.)
Well my body is in this fast already. I was up on the toilet for 2 hours last night... pooping and vomiting up mucus. How fun! When I was meditating last night (right before listening to Alissa's new CD) I let my body know of my intentions - to do a nice extended fast. I'd like to do 100 days minimum... it would be nice to fast through Thanksgiving and Yule/Christmas again. I haven't done the math, don't know how long I'd be fasting to achieve that and counting days doesn't really matter to me.
I will count but not continually. Just noting weeks in my daytimer is enough for me.
I'm sipping on some coconut water with cinnamon at the moment. Hope to feel well enough to have some tom later with some new precious spices!

I am blessed to have you in my life Lady A... very blessed indeed. :hug May we walk together, hand in hand... and :duh learn to share the precious.:sick:
Although just saying that is hard... putting share and precious in the same sentence... it just feels wrong.

i love love love this thread!!! :juicy:
sipping on some love tea right now. "skin detox - yogi tea"... mmmm yummy.
i'm feeling better. no desire to vomit. i think it was simply my body saying "okay we are fasting... let's get this sh*t outta here!" - hence why it was coming out both ends.
my lungs have been hurting for a few days now... deep scratching cough. my voice is 'off'... but i know i'll heal quickly. :woot:
and precious... YOU have to learn to share :LOL:

You guys are so cute!
I am on day 12 of the MC. I am stunned it is this easy. The 40 day MC I did in 05 kicked my butt up down and all over the place. But this is so smooth and there has never been a point where Im like, maybe I should quit. Thanks to juiciness and all my changed dietary habits for that- the 27 days of juice before this had to help.
It is weird cos I look way prettier and my bone structure is more pronounced but I also notice when i look wonky or even slightly off from detox. i feel COLD.
It is nice that I am in a groove now cos the days seem to be floating by, maybe not quite how juice days float, but still I am stunned that its already 2 in the afternoon today cos it was just yesterday LOL.
I have a photoshoot for acting headshots and some conceptual model shots as well first week of march. I feel so excited about this as a way to celebrate how far I've come with my journey thru health issues etc. And we are shooting out in nature with a kind of wild, moody theme. my hair will be all curly (its dark) and Im getting some kind of vintage-y dress that looks pretty but undone. I am sort of a makeup artist, at least Ive had training and done makeup for a lot of stage shows so I am excited to use this for my shoot.
this is fasting related BECAUSE (hehe) there is no way I would feel like doing a shoot were it not for raw and fasting. YAY

That is so cool Lady Aeralyn... You'll have to share some pics :heart:
I just wanted to share what my little 4 yr.old said to me... when she was her sickest with whooping cough I would give her and my 7 yr.old my tomato/veggie juice at night. They LOVED it. Well, my 4 yr.old just asked (acutally was begging me) to make her some tomato/veggie juice for dinner tonight.. :woot:
You got to train them young..lol... :cheer:

everything in your life is fasting related when you are fasting! so please don't hesitate to share with us.
i'm sooooooooooooooo in a space of understanding. where you are now is how i felt for the first 105 days of my 209 day fast. it was like a floating cloud... no big deal at all. i'm hoping this fast will mirror that one in that respect. cause you never know what you'll get. some fasts are hard, others are not. you just have to get in there and see what you get.
i'm so happy for ya!!! :juicy:
i'm not feeling well. very very light headed. i'm going to go relax for a bit. just had some coconut water with cinnamon again. i don't think is from the skin detox tea i had... but perhaps?
my body is just wanting to veg... fortunately that works right now. (((hugs)))

Thanks Aleesha for your words- everything does feel fasting related, I feel so amazed at how easy this is now because there have been times I started in the past that just werent meant to be but i think my body is truly ready and strong for it now.
Oh and GoodCat I will definitely put up a few pics:)

It's been a long day. lots of blood sugar levels UP high and down low... which is odd for me. I think perhaps it's because I'm not 100% and because all I've had today is coconut water and tea. I think a nice tom juice would have changed things up for me but I wasn't well enough to make it AND... I really didn't want anything more than coconut water.
So today comes to a close... and I'm ready, willing, and able to move into tomorrow with ease.

rawlala.... We have eaten a mostly vegan diet for most of my childrens lives (over 12 years now), so transitioning them to more raw is not hard at all. When you start having a family, just give them the good stuff and avoid the bad stuff and they'll crave the good stuff :cheer:

My voice is hilarious! My chest is still sore but my coughing isn't a constant thing at all which is nice. My BodyTalk practitioner and I spoke on the phone yesterday and she believes this is part of the shifting from a session we did last week. Either way I'm taking it easy again today.
When my hubby gets up... I'll have some coconut water. I may get up and get some love tea before then... if I feel up to standing. I'm a little 'wabbly' at the moment.

Today stinks. I was awake in the night and couldnt go back to sleep. I got really excited and wound up last night and it seems when I do that during the cleanse i wake up later in the night feeling wired and cant sleep for hours.
And then I kept having to pee so it was Up DOWN Up Down. grr. I feel tired and cranky

i'm just sipping on tea and coconut water again today. went out and got X, Y and Z for the family for dinner... didn't bother me in the least. surprising since i'm so early into my fast but i'm solid.
i was in the tub and thinking about this. i feel like my body is in the middle of deeeeeep loooooong sigh. that's how i feel. so numb - but in a good way. i feel solid, grounded and secure within this fast. i love it when i feel like this. it's a sign that my body is really ready to do some extended fasting.
so... here i am. no tom juice today... just my coconut water. oh and my voice has returned. not a normal voice... but i have sound!!! http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x87/recyclinggoddess/attachment-1.php.gif

:wuv:wuvHere I am juice fasting going on 4 days now....never been able go over 24 hours or so before. Feel good, not as hungry as I thought I would be. When I really feel the hunger usually by 10:00 am, I drink water, then shortly after that, I have a pint of juice, later more water, then when hungry another juice, etc, and later in day about 7 or 8 pm, Tension Tamer tea or cammomile. .....Is vegetable broth ok to sip while fasting? I think it might be good, or miso soup? I've lost 4 pounds so far. I really want a suspicious skin spot on my nose to heal. How long should I fast for healing, 2 weeks, 1 month, 40 days? What about having bm's? Will there be some? Thanks all you wise experienced fasters. :cheer:
Aleesha Sattva
02-14-2011, 11:52 PM
There is no set amount of days when it comes to your body healing... just as there is no set amount of days before dis-ease comes into it.
If you choose to have broth and miso your digestion will not rest. When your digestion is resting or sleeping - your healing is deeper.
Water fasting gives the deepest healing.
Juice fasting is next.
Juice feasting is after those two and still very very healing.
What you are suggesting would be next.
Green smoothie feast would be next on the list.
Eating raw is next.
To give you an idea. I suggest you do lots of research. There's a stickie in this section (as mentioned in the first post of this thread) that has heaps of info. It's a good starting point for fasters.
And... welcome!
~~~
I'm sipping on tea. I've only had tea and coconut water today. I was going to make some tom juice but my hunger is so silent I didn't want to wake it with juice. So I decided to stay with my coconut water. I have two more cases coming tomorrow so I'm set for a few more days if I choose to stick with the coconut water.
Huge shifting happening health and emotion-wise. I'm pleased. I don't like stagnation. I'll keep staying in the moment... feeling and experiencing... and remaining mindful through it all.
Watched the movie "water" again tonight. So moving...
i'm going to start making much less though. it's a huge soup for me and i seldom want it all... so i'm going to cut it in half and see how that is for me.
garden granny thats definitely normal for detox especially the first few days. Just make sure to drink a lot of juice the first few days to get you smoothly over the hump and you will be fine. lots of water too!
DAY15 of the Master Cleanse. Yesterday was unreal in amounts of energy and euphoria and joy. I was so energized and happy and i worked out a lot! I even went to the gym and ran intervals which I havent done in a very long time. Ive missed it so much! I am so happy to be shifting into this deeper stage of fasting, I forgot how ridiculously amazing you can feel. I am looking forward to the next 20-26 days.
Aleesha Sattva
02-16-2011, 11:25 AM
gg, it's normal beyond the first few days. it's part of fasting and detox. i have days like that here and there in my extended fasts. it's my body's way of letting me know it's working on something and i need to gift it all my energy that day to do it's job. i usually take a day like to read, rest and relax. the sauna and bath are regulars on those days as well.
remember that hot baths are not recommended while fasting. so go warm instead. also if you add some cold water in the last few minutes it'll help you not feel light-headed when you get out of the tub.
(it's not recommended because it's hard on your heart - your blood pressure is low from fasting and then lowering it further with a HOT bath is not good for it.)
my hubby left for work this morning... he'll be back on friday evening. hopefully the rest of will be healthy when he returns.
i did something completely unheard of for me... i took vit c last night. not sure if that's what did it but boy oh boy do i ever feel better this morning!
smiling and humming a happy tune...
HI EVERYONE!!! I am joining you for a 40-day fast starting today!!! I just decided yesterday, and I can't believe my luck that this thread has started again. How's everyone been? I'm now living in residence, so my fast will have to include some pasteurized juices from the cafeteria, but I am SO STOKED! This was meant to be!
I should add I've started hot yoga, which makes me feel wonderful and releases many toxins every day...
So I'm here until the 27th of March. Onwards!
I would love to join you Ladies in fasting too! I am so so glad you are here!
Aleesha you are such an inspiration to many here, I'm sure. And the contents of your fridge look sooooo yummy and healthy! :juicy:
I'm glad you are feeling better.
I am not doing so good. I mean I've done well on my fast for awhile but I went out of town with my family this week and before that have had a lot of emotional downers. Like having to try on a swim suit and thinking I was a lot farther along in the weight loss then I am! Only to find out I'm 2 sizes bigger then I was hoping to be. Lots more emotional blows about different things unrelated to fasting... but that's just one example.
So I came here for help! We just got back tonight and on the way home I was telling my husband I am so wanting to break this fast! But you all were here and even started a new thread while I was gone.
A little background about me. I have not been on this forum in years. I left here five years ago as a failed raw foodist. I thought it was too hard for me and I've been doing horrible most of the time, food wise. A regular SAD eater, eating the worst you can imagine.
I finally got so tired of it and didn't want to go thru one more Christmas feeling lousy that I started this fast. And here I am at the end of day 81!
I don't want to break this fast the wrong way. And have been faltering for days now just wanting it to end. Typing fast cuz I'm in my room and hubby wants to go to bed.
I just have never been succesful at raw.
So I'm scared. When I do break it, I want to do it right. I've been feeling very weak lately bc I'm not juicing enough!
What I am grateful for is that I stuck with juicing and didn't blow it while we were at that hotel. So glad to be away from all the chorine. Yuck.
Okay, so that's my long introduction. Thanks for listening! :heart
Oh and eta, Good Cat...I would really love to order some spices from you! Will be in touch or you can pm me. :)
Aleesha your pineapples look divine! I can't find any that look ripe, only green. Aw well, I'll keep looking..... Feeling pretty good today so far, I've had a pint of cucumber/coconut water/ginger & squeeze of lime juice (so light & good), 2 pints of water, and more juice for lunch & later of kale/romaine/orange/beet/fennel/celery/tomato : )
Aleesha Sattva
pineapples are always ripe when they are picked. they don't ripen off the 'vine' (ya i know they don't grow on a vine)... they only over-ripen. so when you see them in the store, they are ready to go!
i just like mine a little over-ripe so i buy them in bulk and fill that top shelf of my fridge with them and slowly work my way through them. then i restock the shelf again. costco sells them (and they are huge pineapple they reach the entire depth of the shelf) for $2.99 or $3.99 depending on the time of year.
i'm just sippin' on water so far... then i'll have some of the 'red' juice... and see where the day takes me!
I am on a craaaaaaaaanky day 5 of my February master cleanse. I did 20 days in January and purged so many prescription drugs (it was a difficult one). I have NO idea how long I plan to go this time around, I am just letting my body decide. I have a feeling that I may just do a 10 day and then transition back to raw from there. My body wants to MOVE and I simply have no energy on this bout of the MC (thus far) to do anything but lay here. I am sure I will feel more positive about this once I evacuate (it's been really difficult this time around... took FOUR DAYS (with constant effort and smooth move etc-- can't do swf) to use the bathroom after starting this, which is probably a huge factor.
Good luck everyone and huge hugs :)
oh you are so right. when i coach people with fasting... i always warn them about day 5!
if you want/need more energy... why not drink more of your brew OR switch it up to a juice fast. lots of energy on juices ;)
i'll lure you over to the juicy side... :kisses:
I actually want to jump into a tub of beets and avocados-- then start pelting them at passersby right now LOL.
Yeah, day 5 always sucks. I usually do a couple 40 day ones/ a 20 day one/then numerous smaller ones throughout the year. I'd switch to juice fasting (I do those, too) but in the last year (before Jan) I did mostly juicing and no true MCing in 2010 and didn't get the results I usually got with the MC... so back to this 'un. I like the cranky. The inner Dominatrix needs to rear her head sometimes and it's part of the process. I enjoy it. I just know that as soon as you poop the evil out, things get SO much better.
:)
I enjoy the ride, where ever it takes me... (even if sometimes people around me arent enjoying me as much heehee)
You're almost through today ! You can do it, hopefully without causing bodily harm to anyone you know. Yes I am so happy to have made it to the deep healing stage. I have done one 40 MC and several 20's but this is definitely the easiest fast I have ever had. Maybe it's my mindset, I'm not sure, but the cravings seem practically non existent and there is no way I could quit. OH and im headed for 40 or at least 34 which is the day i leave for LA.
I need to get more sleep so I have no more crap days, sleeping bad just ruins my life for a while.
I was gonna say that I know what you mean about juice not giving the same effect as the MC. I started this fast I am on now with juice and did 27 days then transitioned to the mc because I wasnt getting the same fasting feeling and rapid changes.
i have made flimsy commitments at least five times now that i will began a juice fast in the morning. i've done a few, lasting less than three days, however not recently. i am having such a hard time the past two months. i've gained almost 40 pounds since sept after living a very healthy, athletic lifestyle for three years in which my depression decreased by about 75%. i rarely move anymore and am really throwing my life away. i am in a year long yoga teaching program (my passion) and am incredibly embarrassed. i am severely depressed currently and cannot function. and i blew it again today. i feel seriously powerlessness, and am freaking out. this all started from some serious crisis and i reverted to old habits.
i'm sorry to puke this up here, wrong thread i am realizing after i've written this. i came here to make a steadfast promise outloud that i will fast for three days to allow myself to detox all the sugar and chemicals. i need to give myself that. this is really becoming a matter of life and death for me. i am giving myself yoga and meditation these next days also, no excuses.
thank you for this place. i am beginning now. :heart i want to live. that is my mantra for this fast.
rawlala and mia... this thread is not for discussing food prep at all. this is a fasting thread. i'm going to go edit your posts so it's not in this thread. please remember that others may no be in a 'solid' place at this time and reading those posts could push them off their fast. wouldn't make it your fault but we all need to be here for each other and support each other. the first post of this thread shares the rules of the thread... just so you know it's nothing new.
i'm struggling right now... not knowing if i really want to do another extended fast or if i want to just do shorter fasts and short eating times. not sure what i'll do... but i have juice made for tomorrow regardless.
i had a lovely tom juice tonight with greek spices. very very nice. i like this one a lot. i ran out of garlic... which sucks. definitely have to pick some up for my tom juice tomorrow!
Yoga, I read your post and hear the desperation you are feeling. Sending big warm comforting hugs your way. :hug You said this is a matter of life and death for you. I know you are in pain. I want to encourage you to not give up!
You are going to succeed in getting your health restored. You already have had 3 successful years of living on raw foods! You already know how to do it. Please don't put so much pressure on yourself by making this particular fast a "do or die" type thing.
I'm glad you have the mind set of, "I want to live". :woot: We want you to live too. :heart:
I know you are going to make it up this hill on to the other side. Stay here on the fasting forum and we will give you the support you need.
Make sure you keep your fridge well stocked and drink lots of juice when you get hungry. Think on things that are good.
As far as the embarrassment you are feeling by gaining weight and being in the yoga teaching program...I bet you are making people who struggle with food issues feel better because they can relate to you more a know you are human too. None of us are perfect. We all have something we are dealing with. Keep persevering and ask for help if you need it. :hug As Aleesha says, it's ok if you skin your knee, we'll help you back up and you can keep on in your journey to healing.
pineapples are always ripe when they are picked. they don't ripen off the 'vine' (ya i know they don't grow on a vine)... they only over-ripen. so when you see them in the store, they are ready to go!
I can't believe I never knew that. I just figured since they are green, they're not ripe. I know they taste much better to me when they've turned a golden color. Those are hard to find. ......Today for lunch I'm drinking the pineapple/cucumber/apple/lemon/ginger/beet combo.....delish!:heart
Aleesha and Good Cat, thank you for the warm welcome.
Aleesha, you have been such an inspiration to me with your 209 day fast. Now that is beautiful. Talk about an accomplishment,...what you did is AMAZING. :woot:
I can tell you feel good, you are just bubbling up with energy from all your weight loss. I discovered you right before Christmas and because of your enthusiasm for fasting, was able to get thru the holidays unscathed and preparing yummy meals for my family.
Then sometime in Jan. I started popping in occassionally to this fasting thread to stay focused.
Thanks for all the support you have given here! You are blazing a trail for us.
Also,....I wanted to add (bc you said you're not sure you want to do a long extended fast right now), I don't think I would feel up to doing another long extended fast either, if it were just on the heels of an already long 209 day fast. Don't sweat it if you can't. Just do short weekly fasts to get your fasting fix and do not feel guilty! When you're ready to do another long one, you will.
Good Cat. Thanks for loving my name. I know why you love it,...I love those verses/promises too. You are an inspiration as well with your fasting lifestyle and awesome workout program you are on. :throwhearts:
Good Cat, I forgot...there's no pm here anymore. I just emailed you so I hope you got it.
Oh and I have a question for you Aleesha. Where do you order your coconuts from? This has been a source of frustration for me because I live waaaay out from a city.
My husband commutes an hour to work so he picks up my produce for me. But there is no Whole Foods near by. It's several hours away. He has found a couple of young coconuts as a local grocery that carries organic produce but that's it. I've had 2 coconuts this entire fast! I did discover an asian market that's on his way to work so he's going to check there for me but I wondered where you order those big cases of delicious coconuts. Thanks!
Aleesha Sattva
02-18-2011, 03:08 PM
beauty, i order my coconuts from my local market - a tiny family run place. so ask at your market and see if they can get them in. you may be pleasantly surprised!
i'm so glad my journey was able to touch yours and assist you. that's what sharing is all about. we may not know who it's touching... but shining our light is the only way to touch others. if we sit in the shadows no one ever benefits from our light!
i'm going to keep fasting for now... i feel good about my decision to do so... but i'll take it day by day... just like i always do. i'm not married to the fast... just visiting!
and you are right you does need them... they want you... they need you... you are going to looooooooove them... they'll be your precious!
i just got home from our homeschooling co-op early. my daughter stayed home cause she wasn't 100% yet and she threw up all over the bathroom floor while i was gone. so when she called... i had to do the meeting for the next set of sessions before coming back home.
but i'm here now... the bathroom is clean and i'm sitting down for a moment. *whew*
i took some young coconuts to share with the group today but alas... had to bring them back home again since my daughter was sick. i'll take them with me again next week... no worries... there's always another day to do things that need doing. things are seldom "now or never".
it's how i fast... the food will still exist when i'm done fasting - so no need to consume it today. :eat:
gg, i'm soooooooo glad you made my new blend. isn't it just simply delightful! i am in heaven over it. soooo glad i decided to toss those beets into the blend. i think it's made it waaaaaaaay better than it was (and it was already really good).
It's so encouraging to read everyone's struggles. And I so relate; today I don't feel like seeing anyone. I'm just doing water today, waiting for the depression to break.
oh yes i do!!! i usually take some 'me' time cause no one deserves to be around me when i'm like that.
i take a bath, go for a walk, sit in the sauna... meditate... and i always make sure i drink extra. so the toxins get cleared faster cause emotional toxins can be cleared with liquids too you know!
oh and be sure to take lots of virtual hugs... they help as well!
And thank you for letting me know about the coconuts. I called the asian market and although they didn't have any now. He is going to start setting a case aside for me every week that I call and ask him too. Yeah! For some strange reason, I've been craving coconut water ever since I started reading these threads. Oh yeah...could it be because ya'll just keep talking bout it? :drool: But it's a good thing to crave, so I'm safe. hehe
This is a good example of why I love that rule of no discussing food here.
When I read that, I said to myself,...I'm home!!! These people understand and they love and are committed to fasting! :throwhearts:
I like your philosophy on food btw. It will still be there when we're ready to eat again. For now, I'm thinking food, yuck, get away from me.
bikediva, I'm glad you can relate but I'm so sorry you're feeling depressed.
I can unfortunately relate to that. I know depression and it's not fun. Not the way I want to spend my life! I haven't overcome it yet, but I know this fast is helping me. Keep pressing forward and hopefully you'll feel better soon. I know going on water alone is a very emotional and hard thing to do.
I felt the effects of not having food and snacks as a crutch anymore when I started this fast and it was hard at times.
I'm glad everyone's here getting help and support.:cheer:
Oh, Aleesha, I was wondering how much a case of coconuts cost. I forgot to ask the guy from the market today. I know it will all vary depending on where you live, etc. Just wanted an idea of how much. Thanks.
Oh and Aleesha, yes...I neeeds them, theys needs me....yes yes, theys will be my precious...and I will not share!...
I have to say another big thank you, even if it's getting old. Thank you for talking about your spices you ordered from Good Cat. I would never have known about them if you had not mentioned it. So thank you! We'll have to talk spices and juices whens I gets them.
today was a very good day - i was hired by two new clients to be their coach... i'm very excited about it. always love working with new people. i learn so much for every experience and it brings me further along my own path. :hug i'm so blissing out right now over this!
i've had a hard two days - fasting-wise - but i'm hoping tomorrow will be lighter for me. for some reason fasting on weekends is ease in my world... so ease... come on in! i'm waiting for ya.
my last two cases of young coconuts were $22 a case... the ones before that were $20. i pay as little as $13 and as much as $28 - and yup... i'm happy to pay $28 a case cause that's a mere $3 a coconut (9 to a case) and up here when they are inexpensive you pay at least $4 a piece!!! so even $3 is a steal!
and it's my liquid gold... AND i'm totally worth it!!! my hubby gets hot beverages at a store... and pays $2.50 easy for one... if not more. so me having a healthy young coconut for $3 is soooooooooooo right!!!
course i don't always have 6-8 a day like i was last weekend but i'm hoping to again this weekend. i like how i feel on coconut water so i'm going to do a little coconut fast for the weekend and see how i feel on monday!
Hello Fasters!
I just pop in now and then, but I try to sort of keep up with the thread here. I'm finishing up a short (40 hour) fast now. I usually fast at least 24-36 hours each week. The 28th - March 2nd I'm planning a 3 day fast to kick off March. I have a much healthier attitude with food now, and that is one of the things I really needed.
All is well in my world! I got pink boxing gloves for Valentine's Day so you can guess what I'm doing now! But it's fun and a good workout.
Ya'll keep up the good work and for those having a tough time, don't let the potholes trip you up! Take a step back and look at the big picture instead of being caught up in things that are basically trivial. There is no failure in trying, so stick with it!
I am going to try to drink lots of coconut water today. I have a nice tall litre waiting beside me... and I'm keeping my focus on my needs, what I want... and what my body needs most. That always helps me find clarity. Not worrying about what others want from me.
I need clarity, a healthy body and a peace-filled mind. I know I get a much richer version of that when I'm fasting... so... I will continue on.
Fabulous day for me today! It was almost 70 degrees here again today. I drove to Sams(had to get supplies for my work) and KMart with the windows down enjoying the sunny day. I found some wonderful deals at KMart on the clearance racks so now I have some new smaller clothes! Also found more jeans like I like so got another pair of them. I came home and DH and I laid in the sun on the deck and enjoyed it so much. It was great. We're watching a Netflix movie now and I'm using my earthing band. I can't say enough good about this whole earthing thing! If you can't be outside barefoot in the dirt, the earthing stuff is the way to go! Friends that have started using them say the same thing and are seeing good results so it's not just me. I love these health improving things. We "collect" things like that! lol...
I'm looking at starting an extended fast.. At least I want it to be extended, but I know I'll have to take each day as it comes.
I really want to start now, but my daughter's birthday is coming up and she really wants me to make her X, Y, and Z and she wants me to not be fasting on that day. So I'm thinking of the 1st of March. I really feel my body needs it and if I do a combo of green smoothie/juice feasting, I should be able to keep up on the P90X!!!
I think once I start it, I'll keep a journal (like a very good friend suggested to me :kisses:)
That sounds like a great plan Good Cat. And good idea to wait till after your dd's birthday so you can do that for her and enjoy the day yourself.
Also,... I know all to well how very easy it is to fall into the snare of food. Especially if you tend to be perfectionistic like I am.(so all or nothing) You know how to get out of the struggle and we are here for you...fasting alongside you.
Did you get my email? I'm not sure if it got to ya or not. You've got my precious...I's wants them!
I hope your hike was fun. We homeschool too!
Aleesha, that is awesome that you got 2 new clients! Yea! I see why your be blissing out. And what a rewarding buisness to be in. I know those fasters are so grateful to get a new body.
I just tasted my first young coconut juice or water whatever it's called on this fast! I love them so can't wait to get them next Weds. I'm glad to hear that you can drink that many and not have any ill effects. I was hesitating to drink more then one every 10 days bc of what David Rainoshek said on the juice feasting website. He didn't say not to drink it but he had a test for people to do to see how much sugar they can tolerate. Not the white kind!
I think they just said it has a high sugar content so that is good news to hear you can drink so much of it and you are okay. Did you say you use to have diabetes and the raw food diet healed that?
yoga, I'm so glad to see you pop in here. I wanted to ask how you were doing last night but I thought I'd wait for you to come back on. We're pulling for you!
taking things minute by minute here. water fasted for 22 hours today, staying in bed most of the day. it was a tremendous blessing. broke my fast tonight, but not binging. and that presently is a victory for me.
i feel very much at peace tonight.
Wow, so you cured diabetes through fasting?! I had a great concert, and feel much better. I've decided I will fast until March 31. But it's definitely juice from now on!
I overcame my diabetes through eating raw live food! Yes I did short fasts during that time... but I believe it was the raw live foods AND releasing 145 pounds that did it!!!
Good job Yoga... the most important part of any fast is the breaking. :kisses:
I'm not sure if I want to take a couple of days off from full fasting (cause I'll do juice all day regardless) or just do it full on. I'll make my decision later today. Right now my head is focused on my sick child. She's getting worse instead of better :(
I'm so sorry your daughter is not well. I hope her body and whatever it is she needs to be taking, will get her feeling back to her self again, real soon.
It's hard on our mama's hearts when our kids don't feel well. Hugs, Aleesha, to both of you! :heart :heart
It seems like this has been going on for awhile and I know you're both ready for it to be over already.
yoga, you're doing awesome! :dance: Yes, take it minute by minute and those minutes will add up to hours, days, weeks, or for how ever long you need to go! You're doing great!
i started a healing circle for my daughter and she is feeling a bit better at the moment... ahhhh i hope this increases as the day goes along.
i just juiced sooooooooooooooooooooo much juice.
i did a grapefruit/apple blend. about 40% apple to 60% grapefruit. very nice!
then i did a 2 large pineapples, a lot of apples, a bag of cranberries, 1/2 a bottle of E3Live (not juiced but added to the juice obviously LOL), celery, zucchini, kale.
both are really yummy. i have enough juice for today and tomorrow... and perhaps a 1/2 litre into tuesday as well. ;) i'm sipping on the grapefruit/apple now.
DAY 20 of the Master Cleanse!! WAHOOOOO! Doing good and I am in the GROOVE, I feel above it all and food is a world away for me. :) I feel like going out and doing things all the time which I never used to want to do cos I was so exhausted etc. :) HAPPY ABOUT THAT WEEEEEE!!!!
ARe we allowed to post links on here?? I am listening to the most beautiful epic song by a British band from manchester and wow, I love love love it. It has such a transcendent feeling, bigger than life, bigger than the day to day. I love this band.
I got some size small shirts the other day at Goodwill LOL. I am SO not a resale shopper but my mom is cos she loves finding little decorating treasures and refinishing pieces etc. So I went with her and decided to see if they had anything worth trying on. The great thing about this is that I can always sell these things back at Platos closet or something and get new clothes when i get too small for these. MY chest is still quite large which ironically enough was NEVER a problem when i was this size but gaining weight. AH well, my body is much more proportioned now i think
Rawlala, day 20 Whooo! :excited: That is great!
Aleesha, those juices sound so good. I'd like to try your beet pineapple concoction some time as well as the cranberry/pineapple/apple juice you just did.
Is your daughter to ill to get in your sauna? Just wondering if that might help her. I know if you're nauesaus, that is probably the last thing you want to do but thought I'd ask.
Cathy, Good Cat?lol, I'm so glad you got my email. I tried to change my email here but it won't let me. When I came back to rft and found ya'll,...and while reading Aleesha's account with wonder and amazement, I had to add a comment to her blog page. I created an account with my current email. Aleesha, alliekins who left you a comment is me. Then after I did that, I wondered if my old account was still active. So I tried it and it was!
So if you ever need to email me, just go to member "alliekins". My username that I use, beauty4ashes has my email from when we lived in Texas. Hubby was transferred to Kansas city, MO. 3 1/2 years ago. Brrrr, I'm still not use to theses cold midwestern winters!!!!!
Anyway, Good Cat, no problem about the delay. I didn't mean to put undue stress or pressure on you. But they are miiine, all mine!
But just get back to me when you can, k? I've dealing with stress too! I understand. :hug
Yes you can post a link to a song!
Yes those juices are amaZZZing.
Okay... so let's talk about me for a moment. Or rather... I'll talk and you can either read along or skip this part.
I want to fast. I want to. My mind seems to have it's own agenda right now. It wants to spend time bonding with my hubby (who is gone all week and only home for a few days) and it seems I want to bond over food. Even though we aren't eating the same thing... I want to bond.
So I want to release this. I want to fast again. Not sure why it's such a struggle for me but I want to release the struggle and find my bliss again.
I'm hoping that by sharing this... it'll release the struggle I'm feeling... release, release, release...
*peeks to see if it's released*
*cause i wants it... i needs it... i wants it... i loooooves it... my precious*
I have read that fasting will help ALL areas of the body heal. Same book said water fasting and complete rest was the most expedient way of healing. Next best is juice fasting, which they decided should be called juice dieting. Personally, I vote for juice feasting, lol! Am very interested in fasting. Have done a 2 week MC in the past, as well as a 3 day water fast. Loved it! Recently did just a 1 day water fast. Interestingly, that was all my body wanted to do this time around. Am not able to do the whole "complete rest" thing so am looking at juice feasting.
Thank you Fellowship of Fasters for all of the inspiration! :kisses:
probably a little of both yoga. your body is getting used to what/where you are on this journey. take a moment to breathe... perhaps sitting in meditation for a bit to 'settle' after you have your juice.
every day that we fast is a gift to our selves. remember that there is always another day to fast is also a gift. (((hugs)))
i'm ready for another gift. i'm ready to do another fast. i am in so much pain in my belly and digestion. these allergies are just kicking my butt... and to top it all off... my self-pity party is getting pretty old. i'm sick of listening to myself whine...
so it's time to get out my big girl panties and do another fast. i'm starting right NOW. but i'll count tomorrow as day one even though... i'm fasting right NOW.
thirty days is what the dr said i need to rid my body of all the allergens... so... a thirty day fast it is.
i'm ready, willing, and able to do this fast for my greatest good.
i am fasting to heal my digestion.
i am fasting to regain my sense of empowerment.
i am fasting to cleanse my body.
i am here.
Aleesha I am so sorry to hear you are in such pain. I will pray for you that the pain eases and that you have grace and a smoothness as you transition back into fasting. **BIG HUG**
DAY 23 has arrived. Yesterday was the day and night from HELL. Seriously I cannot believe how terrible it was. I went out with my mom, then suddenly I see a man who looks a lot like someone I used to like a LOT and I get all kinds of panic and depression coming over me. I felt so awful and emotional and ugly, which is hilarious because I know at this point in my fast I am looking better than I have in several years. I started to feel very sick and tired also, maybe from not doing the salt water flush yesterday and I could hardly lift anything. I literally felt so ugly and fat and terrible and depressed. I know it must have been a detox wave cos I had a terrible headache all night yet i promised my brother I would attend a concert last night for his birthday. Sadly it was a lot of screaming music. ANyway there is my rant, I feel much better today although my head still hurts a bit. I am wondering if my liver needs flushing because I have been waking at 3am every night and not being able to go back to sleep which has me miserable all day.
Anyway, not to poo on you all with my struggles but thankfully I am still here and better than yesterday:)
I hope everyone is doing well and that you all feel good!:dance:
HAHA Aleesha that is SUCH a good question:)! I AM!!
DAY 25, YAY. Yesterday was hard but I slept in the afternoon and went to bed early and today I feel almost normal again!! WOOT. I tried on a size 2 dress from HS todayhehehehe. My boobs make it not entirely appropriate at the moment and Im definitely not a size 2 just yet but it wasnt tight or anything. And i was wayyy tiny when i wore it so its kinda crazy. Life is good, I just want to accomplish things all day long, Ive been packing and cleaning and shopping and doing errands etc. Its so good to feel energetic and effective
Yesterday i felt so bad that I almost ate but I pulled myself back from the precipice just in time. And I am GLAD! This thing is not over.
Aleesha Sattva
02-26-2011, 05:41 PM
I often tell myself "You know what... if you need to eat... tomorrow is a better time to do that! Works like a charm!
Right now I am simply telling myself "Look you need 30 days to get all the allergens out of your body... so this is a gift you are giving yourself. Period. No choices, it simply IS." And that's been a great help. Especially with all the birth day celebrating going on around me.
I treated myself to a new travel mug. Mine has gone mysteriously missing... and since I'm allergic to coffee I don't want to drink out of anyone else's. So I finally found one I love... AND the girl who was assisting me at Starbucks even gifted me a free tea! How lovely. I got the tea, came home and it's been 90 minutes and it's still too hot for me to drink LOL this is one GOOD mug. So I'll be having them add cold water for now on LOL
ya i was sooooo not feeling good - and i am now. no tummy pain. no digestion pain. today's bm was a bit strained since i started with water fasting and that always shuts everything down even with probiotics and triphala.
but it was a good sized movement today so i'm pleased. i should weigh myself and see what i've released. i'm not really caring about that... but i will just to share for the heck of it.
i think i began this fast at about 143 pounds??? not really sure. either way i'm very pleased with my weight. i ended my 209 day fast around the 135 mark so going up less than 10 pounds in total is perfection in my books. :excited:
That is really good!!
For some reason, my thyroid switched on me again and went from hyper to hypo... which means I started gainging a ton of weight (like 25 lb.) over the last few months. Its crazy.
So one of my goals with my next fast is to help my body get back in balance and then prayfully lose this weight I've put on. :woohoo:
Hi ladies :) I'm not sure if some of you remember me... I haven't been posting, I'm more of an absorber of info. But I did post here in the fasting thread a while ago and kinda fell off the face of the fasting planet so to speak. But I'm back!
While I've been itching to do a fast for a while now, my main inspiration to start was my sister. During 2010 I did a 7 day juice fast, and a few shorter ones here and there and she thought I was completely nuts for not eating solid food. She has always struggled with her weight but has always had a closed minded approach to weight loss and nutrition. BUT, I think all this time of seeing me eating raw food and juicing and I'm still not dead ;) got her thinking because I'm proud to say she just finished her first 10 day Master Cleanse!! :heart: I'm so proud because she came up with the idea all on her own- out of a desire to kick-start a healthier eating regimen, so she can become healthier to be able to live a long life to spend with her 2 year old daughter. I will tell you all that if my sister can do a 10 day fast, anyone can! lol She's just the best, and it felt so good to give her tips and provide support for her during it all. I am ecstatic that she's taking these steps for herself.
Sorry to write a novel, but I am soo happy about it all. It feels SO good when loved ones finally start to see the light about health and nutrition. So here I am at the beginning of a beautiful juice fast... I've juiced enough to get me through tomorrow since it will be a very hectic day for me. My intention is to juice until march 28- for cleansing, rest for my mind/body/soul, and to celebrate *me* :throwhearts:
ah then we'll be fasting together as i'm fasting for 30 days!
i love being an example for others... and it feels so good when you see them making healthier changes in their lives. what a gift that is. i find it reinforces my beliefs even more!
i'm not at all tired tonight. it's midnight here... and i feel like it's 7pm. ahhhh fasting... i love the way it makes me feel... truly feel - whatever i'm feeling... i really feel it. :woohoo:
melly that is SO cool and I totally know what you mean, it is one of the most amazing feelings when our loved ones suddenly get it. And of their own volition! How exciting for you!
My mom was eating junk non stop and watching me get more and more vibrant and then one day out of the blue she was like, Im juice feasting starting today. I was stunned but she was determined and now it looks as though she may do a juice feast every few days or so. I feel very happy about it
It is 448 am and I have been up since 3 guessing this is my liver, or maybe the deep breathing workout I am doing is waking me up with energy but I am so wired and cant sleep and it makes me a little mad cos this has happened most days out of the past two weeks. SO I have been tired and cranky. Oh well life goes on and today is
DAY 26!! WOOT
If I add my juice feast days to my Master cleanse days I am at 53 days total eek thats awesome, and there is no fiber of my being that feels ready to stop yet. I know more is being accomplished.
So 15 more days of MC then one week on juice then one week on smoothies then RAWWWWWW>.. So excited.!:throwhearts:
I'm starting a 3 day fast tomorrow. I think each month I'm gonna do a 3 day fast to just give my body a "rest" along with my once a week 24-36 hour fast that I've been doing.
I haven't felt like doing a longer fast since the first of the year when I got through 9 days. For whatever reason, even with the longer fasts I did last year, my thyroid didn't respond too well and I'm still battling those issues. It may take a long fast for that to work, but I don't feel like trying it and taking the chance that it makes it even worse. So, the short fasts are for me right now. I'm using other things like Braggs ACV and liquid iodine/kelp, etc, to try to help my thyroid. I'm taking a break from using glandulars and will probably take a month or so off before starting again. The Braggs and liquid iodine are giving me quite a bit of energy right now! I like that! Hopefully over time, my earthing will help my thyroid too.
I have definitely been pleased with my weight, though. My lowest was 133.5# and even with eating, it rarely goes over 137.5#. I'm doing some boxing w/ a heavy bag and some self defense training and "normal" workouts, too, and am getting ready to start some kickboxing. It's been nice to have the energy to do it and I guess I am burning calories, too! At 168#, I use to work out like a crazy person and my weight wouldn't budge, so changing my diet to add juice has certainly helped in the weight area! I don't have to work out near as much now and my weight stays down.
Anyway... Happy Fasting everyone! I am looking forward to starting tomorrow! :dance:
I weighed myself this morning... 138.8 pounds. I'm totally happy with that and happy to release a few more pounds as well.
I found the same Menelwen... between eating raw and juice fasting (since jan 4th) i haven't gained much weight at all after my extended fast. I'm super pleased.
Lady Aeralyn, 53 days of fasting is such a huge gift!!! Congrats :throwhearts:
When I'm doing extended fasts I go through periods of less sleep. I think it's my body's way of communicating with me that it doesn't need as much since it's achieved so much healing. I find that when I go back into a deep healing cycle... I sleep more.
Had grapefruit/apple this morning... going to juice another huge bunch of it today. My body just wants this... so that's what it's getting!:encore:
okay here's my blog posting about this:
Dec. 25, 2008 - Someone on a forum I visit created this Fat Burning Juice. They have been drinking it every day for 12 days and has found that some really hard to get rid of fat is leaving their body. I thought I'd share it with you all. I haven't tried it myself, but I probably will try it on my next fast (which starts Sunday).
This is Major Fat Burner... as well as many other benefits.
Juice...
1 or 2 GRAPEFRUITS** (or more if you wish)
2 - 12 oz bags of CRANBERRIES
1 LEMON (or more)
Throw in VitaMix with:
1 TSP KELP or more
1 TABLESPOON OLIVE OIL
Few drops of CAYENNE PEPPER (I use hot hot cayenne extract, powder is fine as well)
Add WATER for more flow!
Blend~
Heres some of the research I gathered:
CRANBERRY JUICE:
Contains high levels of organic acids, which have an emulsifying effect upon fat deposits, thereby helping you reduce excess fat. Cranberries are magical little berries that flush out your system and detoxify the body. Cranberry juice contains bacteria anti-adhesion properties. This is important because bacteria overgrowth can cause toxic overload to the body and stop your body's natural cleansing system from working properly. Rich in vitamin C and antioxidents, and a good source of vitamin K, dietary fiber, manganese, potassium and vitamin A the power that this little berry punches certainly belies its size. It also contains proanthocyanidin and antioxidants to help cleanse and flush out the kidneys. Cranberry juice can also help naturally body detoxification by cleansing the lymphatic system and helping it to eliminate stubborn fat. The lymphatic system is responsible for neutralising our body's waste products and to carry the toxins away from the cells and body tissues.
Good suggestion is to have your first Cranberry Elixir of the day on an empty stomach!!!
LEMON OLIVE OIL CAYENNE:
This drink manages to restore the pH of your saliva which in turn helps you to absorb the nutrients from the food you eat.
If drunk all in one go first thing in the morning (an hour before eating) it will flush & detox the Liver & Gallbladder. Extra Virgin Olive Oil increases the flow of bile from the Liver. This helps the liver get rid of accumulated toxins and poisons. Lymph fluid then drains into the liver for processing and eliminating waste products of cellular metabolism
Lemon is rich in vitamin C - Helps to lose weight faster naturally -Flushes toxins from the body - Promotes a stronger immune system - Helps to purify the blood - Natural antiseptic - Increases the acidity of the digestive system - Helps the body absorb calcium.
RELEASE WEIGHT:
All that heat you feel after eating hot chili peppers takes energy—and calories to produce. Even sweet red peppers have been found to contain substances that significantly increase thermogenesis (heat production) and oxygen consumption for more than 20 minutes after they are eaten. Spice up the metabolism baby!
HEALTH BENEFITS OF GRAPEFRUIT**:
Grapefruit is very helpful in removing or dissolving inorganic calcium which may have formed in the cartilage of the joints, as in arthritis, as a result of an excessive consumption of devitalized white flour products. Fresh grapefruit contains organic salicylic acid, which aids in dissolving such inorganic calcium in the body.
Grapefruit can help in weight loss, since it is low in sodium, high in fat burning enzymes. Low sodium intake can help flush out excess water that is caused by high sodium food.
Grapefruit has high water content, and an increased water consumption can help increase metabolism.
Grapefruit is a rich source of Vitamin C
Grapefruit is rich in lycopene (the red color/pigment), it helps to prevent to occurance of tumor and cancer.
It is a liver tonic
Helps in cases of Gallstones
Helps in cases of Cold, Pneumonia, Fever
It is a powerful drug-poison eliminator
Helps in proper digestion of food
Can help improve complexion
Grapefruit is a natural antiseptic for wounds when used externally
KELP:
This sea vegetable, has been acknowledged as a detoxifier, a balanced supplement, and a healing plant. Kelp is a good source of many vitamins and minerals, but is most noted for its assimilable iodine content. Iodine is transported directly to the thyroid gland where it is converted into the hormone Thyroxine, which helps to regulate basal metabolism and therefore, is of use to slimmers to avoid the plateau effect. It contains over 30 minerals and vitamins. The electrolytic magnetic action of kelp releases excess body fluids from congested cells and dissolves fatty wastes through the skin, replacing them with depleted minerals, particularly potassium and iodine. As iodine boosts thyroid activity, food fuels are used before they can turn into fatty deposits.
**PLEASE NOTE:
Grapefruit juice can interact with certain types of "satin" medications, I believe for cholesterol, high blood pressure, some anxiety meds etc.
If you try this, be sure to post a comment and let me know how you like the taste and what your results are. Some people are using different oils rather than olive (hemp, flax or coconut) and cayenne powder rather than the tincture. They are also using other sea veggies just be sure to grind it into a powder first.
in light,
Aleesha
UPDATE: Here's the response of someone who tried this blend:
Yesterday I tried a smoothie version of this juice. It was a super diuretic. Today I tried the juice almost exactly as posted. I like the juice better.
Juiced 1 large grapefruit, 1 large lemon, (cut off the peel leaving on the pith), and 1 cup cranberries.
Blended with 1 T. olive oil, 1 t. dulse flakes, 3 sprinkles cayenne powder, and water. To tart. Added 1 T. maple syrup and blended again.
Loved everything about the juice. The flavor, the heat that came on afterwards, and best of all the feeling of clarity and crispness I'm feeling right now. It came on almost immediately. I was standing at the sink looking out the window while washing the juicer when it hit. Suddenly everything seemed brighter and lighter, including me. Even my vision sharpened.
Not sure about how big a fat burner it will be for me. I'd have to exercise for that. But still....WOW!
*no nasty juices... no nasty nothings... we likes yummy things... nothing that crunches or needs to be chewed... we likes liquids!... it our precious... yes it is... *
I had a great day with the kids shopping. I went to Lululemon and bought a size 2 jacket. OH MY GODDESS... A SIZE TWO!!! When I got my last jacket there in Sept it was size 6. Nice to see my fasting has paid off eh? *smiling and giggling with glee*
I had a juice from Jojo juice in the mall while we were there. I was so disappointed at the looks of their produce. Made me sad to be putting that into my body but... I drank it regardless. Had a grapefruit blend with me so I had one on the way home and then made myself a yummy tom juice with the cumin I picked up from the organic market on our way home.
So it was a good day!
I'm going to have a bath with my new bath bomb... cocoa butter! Ohhh yes I did... I pampered myself with a cocoa butter bath bomb!
It IS... I am blown away cause honestly I look at myself and I don't see myself that thin. I see (as most of us do) my imperfections. I see the lumps and jiggles... :trampoline: rather than the thin.
Sippin' on some grapefruit/apple/cranberry/ginger with cinnamon juice. I've made a decision while I was in the bath meditating. I will not decide to not have a juice simply because of the time of day. If I want another, I'm having it. This is about listening to my needs, listening to my body and not saying "No, no more juice (or water)" it's about saying "Yes... I'll gift you whatever YOU need"
So... I'm sippin on another juice!
Melly for me the first three days are always the hardest, believe me it gets much easier but you do have to ignore the majority of the things your mind says to you when starting out. You can do it!
And DAY 28 for me. i am leaving for LA in 6 days and I can hardly believe how time is flying. ONly 13 days of the MC left then week of juice and week of smoothies. Lately I have been craving stuff, the first time in this fast actually. And I have been SO tired from not sleeping normal. Its 545 and Ive been awake for at least an hr maybe more. Ohh well it goes on. having men from the past suddenly reappear and contact me again- very interesting, odd and I feel very unaffected. I am not making my life choices for anyone but me.
Ooh Aleesha do we get to see pics of your skinnier little self any time soon?
A little recipe (that I find yucky) to share:
Green Detox Lemonade
The Green Detox Lemonade is the perfect drink to get you started in the morning and will keep you energized throughout the day.
Ingredients:
1 head romaine lettuce or celery
5 or 6 stalks kale
1 to 2 Fuji apples (depending on how sweet you like it)
1 organic lemon with peel
1 to 2 tbsp. fresh ginger
water to liquify
Blend ingredients and enjoy! The lemon helps to decrease the odd taste of the vegetables.
The first three days are always the worse of any fast. Hence why I find it amazing when people do one or two day fasts ever few weeks. They never get to the bliss part of fasting. :meditating:
I don't have any plans to do pics anytime soon... but we'll see. Perhaps. ;)
This question is for anyone: How often throughout your fasts do you experience hunger? I am on day 6 and today is the first day I got real hunger pangs. I want to make sure I am not ignoring any real signs of hunger.
Aleesha Sattva
03-01-2011, 04:16 PM
sometimes daily.... sometimes not for days...
true hunger is undeniable and i have only experienced it around day 70ish of my 84 day fast and around day 204 of my 209 day fast.
the other times... i could get my mind off it. true hunger is something that you wake with, sleep with, walk with... it's there every moment. it's all your body wants to talk about...
IMO, true hunger does not come back in short fasts.
aww you guys are so great. :heart: I did end up breaking it ... for now. My work schedule is just so hectic right now, and very all over the place. One week I'm working all mornings, the next week I'm working night, then morning, then off, then night, then morning etc. and I have had increasing pressure as I'm working toward a promotion. Today was kind of important and I didn't want to feel run down during it. I'm kind of disappointed in myself, but I know tomorrow is another day so I'll be fasting since I have the day off, though I do have a quick business meeting with my boss (who is now concerned about me because I went out on a limb to explain that I was tired because I was fasting for 2 days). She isn't against the idea of it, and claims to have tried it before herself but she thinks I'm going to get sick since something is going around. I tried explaining to her that I'm healthier when I'm fasting on fresh juices, but she was in a hurry to get somewhere and didn't really get all the info.
I'm just so glad to have you all here to know that others are doing similar things. I have lots of carrots, apples, lemons parsley, cilantro, kale, and collards and I intend to enjoy them tomorrow in juice-form with my feet kicked up! Glad to hear everyone is having a good time of it :) GoodCat seems that we'll be starting together :heart yay!
Tell her you are fasting with someone who fasted for 209 days... and that her health is amazing! My doctor and my biofeedback practitioner have never seen anyone healthier than me. That's a pretty huge thing! Fasting brought me here... (with raw live foods when I was eating).
So if you want to fast... then fast!
Thank you so much for the hugs, they help ((hugs)) back to you! You definitely are an incredible example of the healthiness of fasting and I'm super glad you are on this forum :) I don't normally tell people when I'm fasting, just the people I'm close to and they all understand why. It always amazes me how upset other people get when people are trying to make a positive change in their health, when they are eating/drinking junk every day themselves. I will march onward. Even if I end up doing modified fasting for the next month I see it as a good thing. I'll keep checking in here :)
i find the people who are most vocal about "are you getting enough x, y or z?" are the people who are eating fast food... makes me laugh. i just tell everyone that i get more nutrition in one day on juice than they do during a week on what they eat. that usually stops them in their tracks :)
of course, i have the proof inside my words... cause they've all watched me go from 300 pounds to 130 pounds - from extreme un-health to total health. hard to fight with those facts!
Today is the day!! I'll be feasting for awhile (Lord willing)... I'm excited and nervous. But I'm also a little nervous the first few days because each fast is different and you don't really know what it will be like until you get into it. Also, I'm continueing the P90X and I'm not sure how my body will respond.
Are we starting another March thread for fasting???
