Saw this on YouTube today.
She was using the brown hairy mature coconuts.
Make a hole in coconut. Drain over a glass or bowl. Smack several times with the back of a cleaver while rotating it. It should open pretty much in half. Then refrigerate a couple of hours or overnight. Then the shell will just peel off. She made it look and sound so easy.
OR
Put coconut in freezer for 20 minutes. Then drain the water. Then crack open. The shell is supposed to come off much more easily.
I also watched John today from discountjuicers.com on YouTube do a video where he made coconut milk with his vitamix and the new Omega VRT HD 350 juicer. It looked so easy and so good.
I love the idea of going back to the darker mature coconuts. I like the taste. I will use both from now on.
Hope this information helps someone.
