Hello :)

I am trying to find a supplier of organic raw spices. I'm looking for things like cinnamon, nutmeg, cumin, mustard seed, tumeric, cayenne, stuff like that.

Does anybody know of a website where I can order raw, organic spices? I am having a hard time finding one. Even in the co-ops where I shop, they seem clueless about the processes the spices they have go through and are not helpful in pointing me to the companies for info.

I called one place and the guy acted like I was nuts and said he didn't think things were sundried very often anymore. That can't be true.

Any help is appreciated! Thank you! :wuv

I found one company called Simply Organic, they are in the same family as Frontier.

They say this about their processing:

Cryogenic Grinding
Simply Organic grinds most of our herbs and spices in-house with cryogenic grinding. Raw materials are ground at zero to minus 70 degrees Fahrenheit to protect volatile components. Our research shows that cryogenic grinding delivers up to 22% higher levels of active constituents. More on cryogenics.

Ideal Storage Conditions
Simply Organic herb and spice warehouse facility is kept at a maximum of 70 degrees Fahrenheit and 60% relative humidity all year long. These are ideal storage conditions for maintaining the quality of raw botanicals. The higher the temperature, the faster the volatilization and degradation of the plant materials. As a rule of thumb in chemistry, for every 18 degrees increase in temperature the reaction rate doubles.

I buy organic spices and call that good. I don't know if they're raw or not. I like buying Frontier Spices in bulk at our local grocery store. I also order organic spices by Oregon Spice through Azure Standard.

I hope you find what you're looking for. Best wishes! *Ü*
