I've been 100% raw for over a month now. While I don't always have the increased energy everyone talks about -- some days I do feel super energized, while other days I feel exactly the same as before, which is fine -- lately I have had a little trouble sleeping.

"Trouble sleeping" sounds kind of negative. Really, what happens is that it will be like midnight and I should go to bed but I feel wide awake despite having had a long, busy day.

Is this what people mean when they say they need less sleep when they are raw? I'm actually a little concerned because I want to stay well rested. I think it's really important to get at least 7 hours of sleep a night, and lately during the week I've gotten less than that because I'm wide awake at night and then have to get up for work in the morning.

Sometimes at night I will have a fruit smoothie (strawberries, blueberries, banana, usually) but it's usually at least 3 hours before I go to bed. Could the fruit be keeping me awake with sugar, etc.?

Sugar has been known to do that in some people. I also have insomnia, but mine is probably because I work nights and it's hard for my body to get back on a normal schedule sometimes.

Try cutting out the natural sugar at night for a week and see if there is any change... Let us know, ok?

When I first started raw I had the same issue. I would actually go to bed and then wake up at 2 or 3 in the morning wanting to clean something. So since I was wide awake I would just get up, find something to do, then go back to sleep. I had to be active though. Couldn't just wake up and read or fool around on the computer. I was usually able to go back to sleep after I worked off that energy. That insomnia shouldn't last forever.

do you drink coffee ? or black or green tea ? anything with caffine in it will cause shallow sleeping...

It's an energy surge. The longer you are raw the you will be able to sleep better. Maybe not longer but you will be able to control your down and up time
