Welcome welcome welcome!!! :excited:
Welcome to the 30 day challenge. :eat
If you haven't already... please take a moment to read the posting rules/guidelines (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/announcement.php?a=3) of this section. Thanks!
Welcome to the Monthly Raw Challenge!
We're excited about this new area of the forum that is specifically for those of you who are eager to commit to a month of eating 100% raw foods and seeing miraculous results!
WE (one of the moderators) will start a new challenge thread on the first of every month.
We want the focus of these monthly challenge threads to be on staying raw and accountability. Therefore, if you have eaten all raw and then slip up and have something cooked, we don’t want you to beat yourself up over it or dwell on it, but this is not space to discuss it. You are more than welcome to document it in your journal/blog or ask for help in the discussion area, but it is not necessary (and not allowed) to discuss your slip-up here in the challenge threads, just get right back on track and keep going!
In the event that you feel you are not quite ready to fully commit to the challenge and you find yourself having slip-ups often, then please join us again during the following month. Of course you are still more than welcome to participate on other parts of the forum, but we would really like to keep this section dedicated to those who are committed to doing 30 days 100% raw.
Peace, Blessings and Warmest Regards,
Cherie

My Saturday started off with a green smoothie
later some frozen grapes
lunch was leftover green smoothie
Dinner: After several days of mono meals, it was time to do something a little more gourmet for a Saturday night. Hubby is away for work so I had a friend over for dinner, and she loved my raw food menu! I made nori rolls, a few with crab for her, and the rest avo and carrot and sprouts, and I made soft wraps, someone posted the recipe on the forum and I can't remember who, I wish I could find it to give the person credit! They are flaxseed and red capsicum wraps with an avocado 'mayo', sweetcorn, capsicum, and lettuce filling. So yum!
I don't have enough teflex sheets so I spread 2 of them on foil but they got stuck and it was a big mission to get them off! The ones on the teflex were fine. :-)
The last few days I was thinking that I need some broccoli, but I can't stand raw broccoli! So I marinated some in apple cider vinegar, olive oil, garlic powder and onion flakes and some cumin...Let's just say I have changed my opinion on raw broccoli now... I will have to restrain myself from eating it all in one go, or else... say no more...

Good Saturday to All,
Jeannie - neverthought of marinating broc - will try it next week when I by it.
I only liked it in a chinese dish I used to eat SAD - maybe this will work. I'll cut it very small.
Monk - Would the coconut oil work the same way as seseme oil in the oil pull?
Breakfast will be juicing spinach, romaine with apples and pears. I'll put mine (doing it with hubby) in the blender to add all my 'stuff'
Lunch will be a couple of apples and flax crackers. Yep, they turned out good!
These I made with lemon agave, and dried appricot. Will do it next with dried pineapple like the cookie in the store. (The italian one's I made turned out but uck! didn't like the taste).
Dinner - greek salad. Probably some lemonade since I have so many meyers lemons.
Snack - kiwi and apple
I'm so thankful for raw food eating - it has replaced my dreams about work! no stress in that!!
Last night after hubby went to bed - I hung out with our cat and dehydrator - I was too excited and kept peeking !

Yes, you could use coconut oil for oil pulling - lots of people do - you'd just have to let it melt in your mouth a little before swishing :)
Your food sounds yummy!
Are you saying you made some italian flax crackers & didn't like them?
I make a version of italian ones & like them a lot....what did you use for your recipe?

Monk - I put red pepper in it - which is what I didn't like. Could you post your recipe - I love italian stuff. I'm wanting to do the lasagna and 'speghetti".
Getting a mandarin and spiral thing a magigy over weekend. That should help the sweet potato chips. I used to buy the veggie chips at the store, so I'll make beet and whatever else was in the bag. This is so exciting. I get to 'cook' again!
My husband who is SAD, liked the flax 'cookie' and wants me to make a batch for his snacks ! I was having a couple in the car and he practically ate a whole one after tasting! Slowly, inch by inch.... before he knows it he'll be loving raw food diet and eating it most of the time.
Any good recipies that our SAD couner parts enjoy?
Will try the coconut oil later - I test tasted it and liked it so hopefully it won't be too difficult to do.

I always forget you guys are farenheit down there! You startled me for a moment, lol. That's pretty darn cold though. We're @ 9 degrees Celsius here.
I'm feeling better than I did yesterday; I was actually in a bit of a bad mood. Breakfast is juiced carrots, beets, parsley, and celery. I'll probably have fruit for lunch. It's weird, before raw I was never much of a fruit fan. I've always preferred veggies. But now that I'm raw I crave fruit almost more than anything else! I wonder if I'm just going through a fruit phase...:juicy:

Hello everyone!!!
Today is such a beautiful day here, and I've been out all day. I was supposed to come back and do my P90X after dropping my daughter off at church. BUT I asked another parent to take my daughter home with them after practice so I could run errands instead and now we're just returning.
Time to get my P90X in shortly, but...
Breakfast - 1 liter of green smoothie: kale, banana, cacao powder with maca, ground flax, ice, water, msm powder (for my knee)
Energy Drink prior to P90X - 2 bananas, 5 dates, cacao powder with lemon, ice, water
I bought some hemp seed while I was out today (among other things - some chia seed and Kombucha too!) and will be adding that to my recovery drink...the hemp seed, not the other stuff. :p
Not sure what lunch will be yet...though my taste buds have some thoughts on the matter. I'll let ya know once I decide!
Keep RAWking it out everyone! :woohoo:

Hey Change!!
Here's my recipe....I wonder if it's the same as what you have.....just leave the pepper out & see if you like it!
-2 cup golden flax (cover with 2 cup water, stir & let it soak in..about 30min, or so) - you could also use brown flax....sometimes I will mix a cup of each to make it pretty~:wuv
- 1/2 red bell pepper - cut
- 1/2 cup sun-dried tomatoes (I usually let mine soak a good 6hrs, so they are nice and soft)
- 1 clove garlic (or, however much you like)
- juice of 1 smaller lemon
- 1/2 to 1tsp of sea salt (your taste preference)
- 1 tsp dried Italian seasoning (sometimes I add 2tsp)
- 1tsp dried basil (sometimes I add 2tsp)
Put the bell peppers & sun-dried tomatoes in the food processor with everything EXCEPT the soaked flaxseeds......whirl everything up, then add the soaked flax, process together a little bit - spread on teflex sheets (I like mine thinner)......I usually let mine dry overnight when I start them in the afternoon.....flip them & remove the teflex sheet - let them dry until crunchy....temp/humidity will determine this....sometimes I leave mine in for a couple days.....store in plastic container, or glass.....I found ziplock bags made them soggier for me.....
Hope you like it!!!

My BF LOVES the Rawrito recipe on this site.....he also loves the chocolate recipe the I gave Aleesha (I think she posted it in the recipe section "Chocolate Fast", or something like that).....
I also make dehydrated almonds with hickory salt on them (I get it from Frontier Co-op).....we LOVE the dehydrated almond soooo much that he bought me a 25# box of them yesterday......lol

Glad to hear you are feeling better!!
Yeah, you might be going through a "fruit phase"....I did that a couple weeks ago....wanted pretty much nothing but fruit (which is very cleansing, by the way)....then I go into a veggie phase....then a fat/nuts phase....lol, etc, etc....
Great sounding breakfast!!

Thanks for the encouragement monk! :backhug
Recovery drink - kale, spinach, celery, parsley, 3 tablespoons of hemp seed, banana, msm (for my knee), cacao powder with maca, ice, 2 tablespoons of aloe vera juice, ice and water. Refreshing!
I bought so many goodies today, I don't even know where to start. I just want to eat it all...but I know it won't fit in my tummy. :p
I should've gotten my truck washed while I was out too monk...it doesn't look black anymore, a bit more gray instead. *ashamed...but not enough to go wash it right now* LMBO

I got eggplant, hoping to make eggplant bacon; of course already mentioned the hemp and chia seed, as well as the kombucha; some collard leaves; another red bell pepper; some more tomatoes; raw corn on the cob. Last night I got a 5 lb back of carrots... my taste buds want collard wraps filled with red, green, yellow bell peppers, onion, avocado, cucumber and marinated mushrooms tied with carrot strings created by my spiralizer and raw corn on the cob with avocado-garlic butter.
Will I prepare that?? I dunno. I was thinking of it for Sunday dinner, but my mouth wants it now. I'm trying to think of something I can prepare and eat faster at the moment. LOL

Hello!
Beautiful day here in northern cal. It warmed up to the 60's
I am so tire of being cold. And raw is so much more enjoyable in the warmer weather.
Today I had 5 oranges for breakfast. Lunch was 4 bananas. While I was out running errands today I decided to treat my self to some kale chips from the health food store. I have never had them before even though I hear a lot of talk about them. Just let me say:drool: OH MY GOSH!! They were so yummy I thought my brains were gonna fall out. :excited: I am definitely getting my my dehydrated out and go to town making kale chips.
Tonight dinner will be huge green salad with my usual add ins. This next week I will be trying 3 new recipes from Jennifer Cornbleets books: Mediterranean kale, carrots and Moroccan spices, and stuffed mushrooms. That will by my special gourmet treat. After all.......Im worth it...LOL :-)

I decided on dinner, I took the quickest route possible. LOL I cut open half of a small avocao and smooshed it with a spoon. I minced two cloves of garlic ( I love garlic!!) and then smooshed it really well into the avocado, making it smooth...this was my garlic-avocado butter. ( I seem to like the word "smoosh" LOL)
I then shuck two of the sweet corn cobs, washed and dried, sprinkled with salt and pepper and smeared a little butter on top. I placedthe rest on the plate. It was soooooooo delicious! Next time, I'll put the ears in the dehydrator for a few hours to warm up before putting the butter on. But they were  just like this!

So, I got ALL hungry looking at yummy Raw food pics & recipes....I needed something "substantial" for dinner....so, I remembered that Jennifer Cornbleet has some easy recipes.....so, I made her "Not Tuna Pate" page 68 in Raw Food Made Easy for 1 or 2 people.....:eat

I only soaked the nuts/seeds for about 3 hrs.....
followed her instructions (not sure I can post recipes from her book w/out permission...)....thought it tasted just "okay".....so, I added stuff to it....
I added dulse flakes, dried dill, a little more sea salt & some nama shoyu.....I think it tastes better now!!
I added tomatoes & avocado to it (showing one without, so you can actually "see" the pate).....
I'm going to eat the rest of the tomato & avo spritzed with braggs & sprinkled with nutritional yeast flakes.....
Happy Saturday - Day 12 to everyone!!!
See you on the flip side~~monk~

Forgot to marinate my eggplant earlier for Alissa's eggplant bacon! Geesh monk, why didn't you remind me? :p
So I just sliced my eggplant and I'm planning to let it sit for an hour and then put them in the dehydrator. Maaaaybe, they'll be ready in time for breakfast...we'll see. I tasted the marinade and it was yummy to me! I can't wait to see how this turns out!

Hopefully this will be on my food list for tomorrow! :throwhearts:

WOW - these pictures have me drooling! Between the corn with the avocado 'butter' and the not tuna pate, I want to eat again! I'm going to have my husband teach me how to take and post pics.
On my Journey - glad to hear I'm not the only one that wants to devour everything at once after shopping - so hard to decide what to make - too many recipies, not enough meals.
The corn - that's a given. Too bad the not tuna is made with nuts - can't eat them.
Here in St. George it was nice out, mid 60s. Next week into the 70's ! Time to get out the spring clothes.
I'll send you all warm thoughts! (Originally from NY - so I know what freezing is). My son told me how high the snow was from all the storms they had. Brrrr.
A third fridge, not a bad idea! There's not enough room for everything in one! And I like everything in front of me to see. Perhaps when we move, I'll insist on a walk in fridge! LOL
