Welcome welcome welcome!!! :excited:
Welcome to the 30 day challenge. :eat
If you haven't already... please take a moment to read the posting rules/guidelines (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/announcement.php?a=3) of this section. Thanks!
Welcome to the Monthly Raw Challenge!
We're excited about this new area of the forum that is specifically for those of you who are eager to commit to a month of eating 100% raw foods and seeing miraculous results!
WE (one of the moderators) will start a new challenge thread on the first of every month.
We want the focus of these monthly challenge threads to be on staying raw and accountability. Therefore, if you have eaten all raw and then slip up and have something cooked, we don’t want you to beat yourself up over it or dwell on it, but this is not space to discuss it. You are more than welcome to document it in your journal/blog or ask for help in the discussion area, but it is not necessary (and not allowed) to discuss your slip-up here in the challenge threads, just get right back on track and keep going!
In the event that you feel you are not quite ready to fully commit to the challenge and you find yourself having slip-ups often, then please join us again during the following month. Of course you are still more than welcome to participate on other parts of the forum, but we would really like to keep this section dedicated to those who are committed to doing 30 days 100% raw.
Peace, Blessings and Warmest Regards,
Cherie

I think I am moving.....to Antarctica....I pretty much live there already....it's even COLDER out today....wow....my hands are numb just typing this.....
The current temp is -4, with a windchill of -19 below zero.....lol - I have to laugh, because the forcast says it will be 37 degrees on Sunday....I'll believe that when I see it.....lol
Breakfast:
1 cup of tea
I didn't want my smoothie this morning....so, I had a piece of my brownie dessert....you'd be proud....I've shared 5 pieces with friends/loved ones.....mind you...the were "slivers" in comparison to my piece, but I didn't know if they would like them or not.....:wuv
Hope everyone has a Happy Hump Day!!!! :excited:

Hello Everyone!
I almost forgot to post today, but here goes, and then it is bedtime!
Still into the mono-meal deal, seems to be working well for me, I just wish I didn't have to prepare carnivore food for other members of the family! Meat is starting to actually smell horrible to me now, whereas I used to love it before!
I can't believe how much has changed in a short while!
Today I had:
avo
bananas x2
sweet potato chips
grapes
watermelon
Looking forward to reading everyone else's posts tomorrow morning!
Byeeeee!!

Negative what?!?! Sounds like Antartica to me! Goodness... I am complaining here that it was 18 degrees here this morning.
:backsout:
Tea! Tea! Tea & more warm hugs! :throwhearts:
Happy, Happy Wednesday! Is this week flying by or is it me?!
Well, I worked an 11hr shift yesterday and my booty went numb. LOL! Got home pretty late and my Honey had prepared a spicy collard wrap (right there with you on the spices, Monk!). It was extra spicy with crushed red peppers, cayenne and Jalapeño. We also had some coconut meat in the fridge so I made banana/coconut pudding with vanilla bean, yacon sprinkled with mango chucks. YUMMM!
Today's plan::
-Green Juice
-2 Yummy Cookies ( leftover almond pulp that was turned into almond four, 1 banana, 2 dates, 1 cup of soaked walnuts, raisins, cacao nibs, cacao powder, lucuma & yacon powder)
-Salad with 1 avocado
-Smoothie for dinner
I am thinking of spicing things up this Friday and making Alissa's Calzones for the 1st time. Has anyone tried this recipe? It looks so friggin delish!

*sending warm vibes to monk* Good morning everyone!
Breakfast - the usual, a GS: kale, banana, cacao powder w/maca, ice, water, ground flax seeds
Snack - a big mixture of black berries and strawberries; and the leftovers from my cauliflower "popcorn" (see journal/blog)
Lunch - I just threw a bunch of stuff in my lunch bag and we'll see what happens: I brought a whole bunch of spinach, an avocado, half of a large cucumber, 2 roma tomatos, mung bean sprouts, my ground flax/oregano/garlic/onion/cayenne/nutritional yeast seasoning mix and a red bell pepper. We'll see what I put together when the time comes...
I never mention it but I usually bring at least 2 liters of water with me, though today I only have 1. I'm going to regret that...I can already tell.

Lunch was chopped up cucumber, 2 roma tomatoes; topped with LOTS of mung bean sprounts and sprinkled with my ground flax/oregano/garlic/onion/nutritional yeast mixture over it with extra cayenne over that. My taste buds=>> :woot:

WOW! That's pretty intense... now... I'm just sayin' in case... Antarctica is actually quite nice to visit this time of year because it's summer there. (No really, check out the weather, it's probably warmer there! lol lol lol) I have a dear friend who went on a trip there last year and just loved it. Her pictures are amazing.
So maybe Antarctica?!:wuv
so, I had a piece of my brownie dessert....you'd be proud....I've shared 5 pieces with friends/loved ones.....
That is FABULOUS monk!!!!!

Isn't it funny how things change?! I hate to admit it, but I still love the smell of meat. It's kind of like a very strange perfume. It doesn't seem like food... just something with an interesting smell. Strange, huh!?

It's not just you! It's totally flying by. I actually kind of don't believe it's Wednesday! I've made Alissa's calzones many times and just love them, but I alter the recipe quite a lot to reduce the work and have easier-to-handle sizes. It freezes really well in the smaller calzones too!!
...the leftovers from my cauliflower "popcorn" (see journal/blog)

Have got to make some popcorn, but no D. So sad. It's such a yummy treat!! Lunch sounds like the makings of a lovely salad! Or perhaps even a soup if you have a blender?!?!
^^ That looks DELICIOUS monk!!
I just made some raw popcorn (cauliflower, sea salt, nutritional yeast and cayenne). I was just experimenting since I was running out of nutritional yeast, but the bit I had was YUMMY! I put them in the dehydrator and will see how they taste warm!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v681/Ohappydaye/Popcorn.jpg
So jealous of this! ::sigh::
I can't find lucuma anywhere - any on-line site have it?
Jeannie - I told my husband what you wrote about the avocado amounts - we went to the store together and he picked out a raw food cookbook for me - he only eats salads and juices. But he loved the recipes and the reading in it which spoke about losing weight and he is frustrated about the yo-yo effect.
That's when I told him about what you wrote.
We bought a dehydrator today, and he's as excited as I am - I couldn't get the book away from him!
What a nice hubby you have!! As for the lucuma, I have purchased it at Shop Raw Foods (http://shoprawfoods.com), Natural Zing (http://naturalzing.com), Raw Guru (http://rawguru.com) and I believe Organic Living Foods (http://organiclivingfoods.com) (if they have it, they are my favorite company to buy raw products). I hope that's a help... often you can get your local HFS to carry these things, so don't forget about them!!
Changeisgood - Yayy! Enjoy your lunch! I was inspired by Eva...don't you just love the sharing!!
Monk - I'm going to box up some blankets and thermal underwear for you! Goodness gracious!
The popcorn turned out well, just not very much of it. I posted pics and an update in my blog/journal for anyone interested. :eat
Big smiles over here!!!!!!!
They have thermal underwear?! Where have I been? LOL!
lol lol I hadn't heard of these either. It's pretty funny!

Having a great day over here, had a green smoothie, a milkshake, and about to have a yummy tomato salad. Bought some goodies to make stuffed bell peppers too!! :):):)

After reading all the posts -
I was reminded that I used to grind mung beans and use it in the shower - nice and gritty - felt good.
There's those packs that when you crack them they heat up - skiers/hikers use it - can be used in gloves and shoes. Or hot pepper or any hot spice.
When I lived in upstate NY, we had windchills at 25 below one winter. COuldn't even go out. Brutal. But watching the blizzards was so peaceful.
Couldn't take it anymore - moved to the desert!
I love all the meals - I make a bunch of stuff, and have plenty of fruit/veggies - but my eyes are bigger then my stomach! I can't fit all that in anymore.
B - felt like something different - made chunky applesauce with oatflakes, raisins, cinn, van, agave. yum. but filling!
L - quarter of a cantaloupe and some sprouted quinoa salad. I even put raw red onion and garlic since I read on another forum the benefits - but boy do I stink!
D -either a blueberry shake or bokchoy and mushrooms, although that salad sounds sooooo good - oh, what to do!
Pretty soon I'll be making all the dehydrated stuff you all mention. Sounds so good!

Ooooh, I hadn't thought of turning THIS into a soup! That's a fabulous idea! I've been looking at Alissa's recipes and searching the forum for a soup to make soon and you walked right in and answered the question I hadn't openly asked yet. :backhug
As for the popcorn, you've gotta hurry up and get back to the states so I can fill you up with popcorn and work you out with P90X!! :woot:

Everyone's food looks FANTASTIC!! I'm borrowing ideas! About to go prepare my recovery drink. My lower right leg (calf, shin and foot all cramped up INSANELY! and I couldn't finish the last 7 mins or so of ab ripper x. It was brutal! So glad that my daughter was here to locate the heating pad, or else I'd still be crying in the floor...but I digress, this is about food.
Recovery drink after P90X: kale, spinach, celery, parsley, lettuce, cacao powder with maca, banana, ground flax, ice and enough water to blend.
My energy drink prior to P90X - 1 banana, 8 pitted medjool dates, cacao powder w/maca, ice and enough water to blend.
:heart

You are awesome!! Nice work on skipping out on it. It wouldn't have been worth it anyways. Cooked food is so bland compared to all the vibrant yummies we get to eat.
Hey, little comment in case it's a help. If it was just after the smoothie, it's no matter, but if you find yourself getting cold, there are 2 things that helped me IMMENSELY when I was raw in New England:
1/ Dry skin brushing A LOT, like a full 5-10 minutes of scrubby action
2/ Hot-cold showers ---- AWESOME ---- you just have 30 seconds warm followed by ice cold for 30 seconds and alternate until you're finished showering. This revs up your circulation like you would NEVER believe. And your body start to learn to warm itself up, so even when outside in the cold you are not as cold as you "should" be.
Just thought I'd share in case it's useful to you.

Sooo....I have no update for dinner last night. I fell asleep...in my living room floor. :wuv
Eva,
It WAS intense!! That was the worse charlie horse I've EVER experienced in my life! I'm going to drink much more water before I start next time, eat extra bananas and stretch even more!! I NEVER want that to happen again! It's hurting right now, but not as bad as I anticipated it would.
