I'm starting to get bored with salads. Can I use natural rock salt and olive oil just to give it a bit more flavour?
Also whats the best books out there on Raw food? Theres so many to choose from and I don't have a lot of money right now.

Alissa;s book is great if you can get it but if you have no money there are lots of free ebooks available on the net.
I think that you can make a healthier dressing than the one that you are suggesting. Have you done a search here for better ideas.

Maybe it is time for you to stop eating salads. I have only eaten half a dozen in the past year. Perhaps your body is asking for a change.

Yeah I think it is too. I think I have too much simplisity in my diet at the moment. I feel great, but not enjoying the eating part as much anymore.

Get her DVD. Raw food is more then salad. In the beginning of my journey, i couldn't stand any salad, so i did raw without them. I was ok with the green smoothie but just couldn't be appeal to eat the salad.
Raw cheese (in her new book, pate, noddles, desert, soup (easy to make), papaya steak etc....)
So many variety of raw food.
Hope you find something you like

I have fruit for meals and spread my salad out over the day with crudites and green juices. I don't eat salad for fun. I see the stuff as necessary medicine not a solution to hunger. Fruit is where it's at but I benefit so much with veg and greens thrown in just don't make me sit down to 'dinner' with them.

Try:
1 banana
1 handful of strawberries -fresh or frozen
1 handful of pecans or walnuts
2-3 dates
as little water as possible to make it blend.
Pour that over your salad...it's completely THE BOMB! Promise!!

In my experience with folks, if you are not enjoying and creating diverse meals at times, its not going to be so good for you.
There is such an array of foods to have. I rarely, if ever, eat salad. If I do, it is with an amazing raw dressing on it in abundance!
This is not a plan of deprivation but one of abundance, fullfillment and inspiration.

I love salad yet, I'm wondering at your question? Do you usually eat salad with NO dressing?
In my opinion, one can eat the same ingredients daily IF they put a different dressing on each time. It's really the dressing that makes a salad what it is. I for one, enjoy salads yet, sometimes I'll just make up a plate of raw veggies such as sliced cukes, carrots, celery, avos and tomatoes and add some raisins, or sunflower seeds, or raw nuts AND a dressing.

Change up the dressing or do some zucchini pasta mmmmmm... Alissa cohen's marinara sauce is the best!
I also suggest Alissa Cohen's books!!!

What dressing should I use tho? I usually have lettece or spinach as a base and put all the regular ingredients on. No dressing.

Blended tomatoes and orange juice make a good dressing.
I have seen some nice looking ones with raspberries.
Some just use lemon juice.

James, i'm not surprised you are bored of salad if you are eating it dry! I'd be bored of it after two mouthfuls!
There are loads of different dressings you can make. Most of the time i've been raw I dressed my salads in olive oil, sea salt and pepper, it's only recently that i've moved away from it. Oil, cider vinegar, salt and pepper is good too. have you tried blending up an avocado with a little water and using that as a dressing? it's really good
You can also make creamy dressings by blending up soaked cashews and adding herbs.
If you want something more low fat try the suggestions sport gave. orange juice is great on salads!
The possibilities are endless!
I recently bought Alissa's new book, Raw Food for Everyone. it's a little pricey over here but well worth it. I think you'll find it inspirational and there are tonnes of recipes in it.

Just google "Raw salad dressings".... or, look through any books you have. There are very few raw books out that don't have raw salad dressings.

I did a banana search on this site for salad dressing and THIS (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/search.php?searchid=2439154) is what I found.
I use all sorts of things as dressings from simple lemon juice to multi ingredient blended wonders.
I do find that for me, mixing fresh fruit with nuts ends up with my having jet assist (gas) for quite some time. Oddly, I don't have that problem with dried fruits mixed with nuts.
On Amazon you can find some good prices for raw books, Alissa's included. Her books are wonderful! I also enjoy books by Victoria Boutenko, the Cafe Gratitude books, Gabriel Cousens, there are some that are geared for 1 to 2 people and others that aim to get you some really good raw food on the table in 10 minutes or less. If you are looking for that one book that will answer most of your recipe/technique needs, I would get Alissa's new book, Raw Food for Everyone.

I actually don't need a dressing if I add an avocado to the salad. There is something about it's creamy texture that lights up the salad for me. Otherwise I make a raw dressing.
But maybe your body would simply like more variety, like mixed veggies instead. :) Good luck, keep up the good work! Raw Rawks!:woot:

WOW! Thanks Revvell! This search gave me lots of great posts and now when I click on the link it tells me there are no matches. :thud: Could our beloved banana search be buggy?

Tried again. http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/search.php?searchid=2442249 no fancy linking this time. Went up to the banana search and searched salad dressing - titles only - hit search and got a big list of threads about salad dressing, lots of recipes. If clicking above link doesn't work, please try the copy/paste approach. Alternatively, one could do a search of their own :)
