will I turn green

Hi, I've been on the daily green smoothy for a few months now and am wondering will I start to turn green ? I know an excess of carrot juice can turn you orange so has any one had any unusual colorations from the green stuff ? cheers

you can turn orange from eating a lot of greens, they have beta carotene just like carrots. smear a kale leaf on a paper towel, it has a yellow hue

I eat so many greens that I can see a tint of green in my skin if I look close enough; skin that's smooth and blemish free. FINALLY! :woot:. LOL

thanks Tenuviel didn't know that...found a study that looked at the various pigments in spinach. Looks like the green is from chlorophyll b. Chlorophyll a is actually blue - green. Cool. To me this is amazing. From wiki... "Absorption of light by photosynthetic pigments converts photons into chemical energy." So by having these pigments in your body you are literally converting light into chemical energy.


Carotenes (yellow-orange)

Pheophytin a (gray, may be nearly as intense as chlorophyll b)

Pheophytin b (gray, may not be visible)

Chlorophyll a (blue-green, more intense than chlorophyll b)

Chlorophyll b (green)

Xanthophylls (yellow)

The other day I was in a restaurant, and for some reason the washroom lighting made my skin look GREEN! not like super green, but like with definite green undertones, especially around my mouth. All I could think about was how I giggled at this thread in the morning, THEN I TURNED GREEN! I asked my Mother in law when I got out of the bathroom, and she insisted that I am, in fact, NOT GREEN, and it must just have been the lighting :excited::excited:
