I'm struggling a bit through my weekly 24 hour fast. I'm doing ok, just really wanting some food, a little woozy, and have my odd "hot" feeling through my head. Anyway, I thought just sharing with all of you might help.

I started the fast at 6pm last night and hoped to break it at 6pm tonight. But I was so famished at 11:30pm I had to have a snack to fall asleep (and I did not sleep well because of it...lesson learned). So, now I'll break the fast about 11pm tonight or, if I can sleep, tomorrow morning.

FYI, it's a water fast.

Thanks.

hey debbie,

fasts are the most difficult during the first 48 hours. i've done three and have the 3rd day the hunger pain goes away. i did a "almost" two day one this past weekend. actually, i did the ultimate cleanse (lemonade, maple syrup and cayenne pepper). it's a lot easier to do the ultimate cleanse because it gives you just enough calories for daily activities. i actually exercise on the ultimate cleanse.

i wanted to do a short "fast" in order to truly appreciate the raw food diet. i've been doing 85% raw for the past month and wanted to do the 30 day raw challenge which i'm starting today. one thing you have to remind yourself during the tough times of the fast is that you will eat again! and also, to really meditate (turn off the tv!) and try to really work on your introspection during this time. the great thing about doing a short fast is that food taste soooooo much better after you finish one. i had a salad and strawberries to break my fast and it tasted so good.

hang in there you can do it !

=)

Thanks! I'm actually feeling much better over this last hour. I agree, you appreciate food so much more. And I am looking into the sensations. Why do I feel warm? Am I really hungry? Why do I miss the food?

I only do a 24 hour fast because I have the babies to take care of and this weekly fast is just enough for me while I take care of them and my husband and home.

p.s. good luck with the 30 challenge. you'll feel great and have so much energy. i'll help if you have questions.

The easiest way I have gotten through my fast - I always do them on days I know I'm going to be so busy working, (currently working 10 hour days 5 days a week and a 6 hour day on the 6th day) I don't have time to think about anything else...and that works well plus also, on those days, when I'm not at work or it's lunch time at work, I read books on fasting. (and Biblical scriptures on fasting, too) This really, really, really helps a ton and makes me totally believe in the power of fasting. I got through a 5 day fast last week with no problem (well, other than going to bed at 6 pm two nights in a row because I felt exhausted and was going into crying jags - you know, emotional detox but then, afterward I felt refreshed, rejuvenated and alive after those two days!) And my skin softened even more and looked even more alive and much younger!

I think, sometimes, when you fast, the hunger is gone and the only thing that's really left are your cravings. (as has been my experience)

I'm on another 5 day fast this week - but for spiritual reasons. Nothing to do with cleaning the body this week.
