Purhaps this has been discussed.

Nama Shoyu is not wheat-free (gluten).

Yeah, I stay away from it. Have you tried the coconut aminos by coconut secret?? They are DELICIOUS (although mildly coconutty) and truly raw, gluten-free, soy-free. :)

Did you happen to read somewhere that it was Gluten free? Alissa says in RFFE that it is "RAW, unpasteurized, and Organic.... Nama Shoyu is a living food because it contains natural digestive enzymes". She does not say that it is gluten free.

Nama Shoyu is a raw alternative. I love it!!! :throwhearts:

If you are looking for a gluten free substitute, try Coconut Aminos! I have used it for Onion Bread and it's fabulous!!! :)

I learned about this fact recently and I am best to be gluten free as possible, and I also know that there are Celiacs out there looking for relief by eating Raw.... Gluten being a goitrogen is also another reason for me with hypothyroid to stay away, and two; gluten makes me feel lousy and painful.

Thank you about the coconut alternative. I will have to try it.

I am deleting my comment as it may be Brags that I read that about. I never claimed to have a good memory.

Was it about MSG sport? Bragg's has MSG, which is why I prefer not to buy their products. I feel that their label is misleading. I had my first raw stomach ache after using Bragg's aminos...

It is a hotly debated topic whether NS is really raw, because the soy would have to be cooked at the early stages... So it would be considering "living" because of the process that brings life back in but not truly "raw" in the sense of the word. I'd rather have "living" than just "raw"... but it's a point to be made.

I've REALLY enjoyed having access to the coconut aminos from coconut secret. They are TRULY an alternative, with no soy, no gluten, totally raw. Love it!
