Hello, I am new to this completely! In fact, I am trying to prep the best I can for my raw foods change.
I want to know how to maintain a healthy amount of calories and nutrients while working out and doing Bikram.
I have practiced Bikram for about 6 months and I got every day, sometimes twice a day. I also do other various forms of exercise, from cycling, hiking, weight training, pilates, dance and LOVE BeachBody workouts (I have almost all of them- although I don't follow any one particular program)!
How do I maintain the right amount of calories and nutrients? Do I have to cut back on the exercise? Does anybody else do Bikram?
Thanks and any direction would be great! Excited to be here, look around and read posts! Can't wait to get to know you all!!!!:excited:
I don't have a Bikram center near me here in Brazil, but when I was in the US and in Hungary practicing regularly, I found that I craved more green smoothies (like crazy!), coconut water (great way to keep hydrated), and sweet fruits like bananas.
I still ate nuts, oils, and plenty of other foods, but I found those foods to help me get more calories and hydration and to keep strong. :)
Might be good to see what the P90X folks are eating to keep their energy up?
Awesome that you are doing it so often! I found raw + Bikram to be an AWESOME combo. I can't tell you how much I miss it!

Hi Kimwin
I use to do Bikram Yoga daily, Loved it!! Unfortunately I have a busy schedule now and workout at home.
Like Eva said, coconut water if you can get it is amazing and oh so yummy after a class. I was also filling up on green smoothies like crazy and big meals of sweet fruits. Fruits are high in cals and will keep your energy levels up! mmmmm banana date and a leafy green = is very good!
You must be in very good shape ! Sounds like you do a lot ! :) keep it up!

love bikram. my usual practice is a tantra-inspired vinyasa, but i usually do a bikram class once a week to detox and as a meditation. it is the best meditation i've found for myself. i do not go to a certified bikram studio, so there are no bright lights, and i am most fond of the silent class. i have found actually that i need to eat lighter (with a higher water content) on the bikram days.
love yoga.

HI everyone! Sorry for the late response! I have found that doing Bikram while raw has been easier than I thought! I usually do a coconut water after class, so i just upped the size. Then when I get home and get the laundry going, I do a green smoothie!
Wow, those green smoothies are amazing! :)
I love Bikram yoga, but in all honesty, and looking for a pilates studio too! LOL I start grad school this Fall and would love to cut Bikram back to 3 days a week and pilates 2 times. We'll see! :)
And yes! Meditation! So meditative! So much concentration! I love it! Glad to see it can be done! :)
