Welcome welcome welcome!!!

Welcome to the 30 day challenge.

If you haven't already... please take a moment to read the posting rules/guidelines (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/announcement.php?a=3) of this section. Thanks!

Welcome to the Monthly Raw Challenge!

We're excited about this new area of the forum that is specifically for those of you who are eager to commit to a month of eating 100% raw foods and seeing miraculous results!

WE (one of the moderators) will start a new challenge thread on the first of every month.

We want the focus of these monthly challenge threads to be on staying raw and accountability. Therefore, if you have eaten all raw and then slip up and have something cooked, we don’t want you to beat yourself up over it or dwell on it, but this is not space to discuss it. You are more than welcome to document it in your journal/blog or ask for help in the discussion area, but it is not necessary (and not allowed) to discuss your slip-up here in the challenge threads, just get right back on track and keep going!

In the event that you feel you are not quite ready to fully commit to the challenge and you find yourself having slip-ups often, then please join us again during the following month. Of course you are still more than welcome to participate on other parts of the forum, but we would really like to keep this section dedicated to those who are committed to doing 30 days 100% raw.

Peace, Blessings and Warmest Regards,

Cherie

Cyclone Yasi has left quite a trail of destruction over here, and that means our banana supply in Australia has been largely wiped out. Bananas are going to hit about $15 per kilo, so I am freezing some while I can still buy them at a reasonable price..

Today went pretty well, I am not finding this raw lifestyle all that hard, even though I still make SAD food for the rest of the family, I found that if I eat before I start cooking, I am not tempted to fall off the wagon!

My food for the day:
handful of pecan nuts
nectarine
handful (or 3) of sweet potato chips
avo
salad with lettuce, tomato, sprouts
2 crackers with some guacamole

Have a fabulous day everybody!

Good morning Jeannie!! Hi Everyone!!

So sorry to hear about the banana supply! :hug Oh no! As many bananas as I go through, I'd be storing 'em up like a squirrel stores nuts right now! lol

Breakfast - my usual lovely GSw/a little extra: kale, banana, cacao powder w/maca, ground flax, water and ice with a little celery and lettuce ...:woohoo:

Lunch - I brought: a large cucumber, a tomato and an avocado. I was thinking I'd slice up the cucumber and top it off w/ a slice of tomato and avocado...but now I'm thinking I'll just top it with tomato for something a little lighter. I'll see how I feel around lunch time.

Snack - I forgot my fruit, so hopefully they'll be something in the workroom. Someone's been dropping off fruit for the staff lately...so hopefully they thought of us again today.

Have a FANTASTIC day everyone!! :throwhearts:

Don't know what happened, but my body just told me that she needed fruit and ASAP! I was sitting here and started shaking. I went to the fridge here in my office and forgot that I had a container of broccoli and a 1/4 of a yellow bell pepper that I left in there from yesterday. I thought I needed fat, so I sliced up 1/2 an avocado and ate it along with the 1/4 of a pepper and a bunch of broccoli. Afterwards I felt better, but still shaky. Just my luck, no fruit in either work room so I ran to the closet grocer store.

I got 2 HUGE oranges, and 3 peaches. Just finished off the 3rd peach and am feeling MUCH, MUCH better now. :woohoo: Guess I should've put 2 bananas in my smoothie this morning instead of just the one.

The deli also had just put out some fresh salsa so I grabbed that to eat with my cucumber slices for lunch a little later.

UPDATE:
On second thought...now that I've eaten all this fruit, I'm full. Perhaps this was my lunch. LOL I think I'm done til dinner time.

Good morning all!

Good to hear that you are safe and sound Jeannie. My aunt lives in Queensland and her and her hubby got stuck on their property (they live on a big farm). Their house is up on a big hill and they have enough food, so they are safe, but the roads are flooded and they can't leave. I think they live like two hours from any town so they always stock up on loads of food. Pretty scary though.

I woke up feeling mostly better this morning (from my cold). I had a really bad headache yesterday from the no caffeine thing, so I'm not looking forward to that. I'm expecting it'll hit around late afternoon and continue through the night. I think I'm going to go for a jog after I have my breakfast.

My skin is also looking clear today. It fluctuates throughout the month of being fairly clear to mild/moderate acne. MY skin also scars really easily so even when I have no acne I have a bunch of red marks. Luckily they aren't the deep pitted scars but just smooth red marks and they go away eventually (a million bajillion years later).

Wowee, we've got our issues today, but it sounds like everyone is moving on and keeping it up FANTASTICALLY!

Oh wow! Jeannie, good that you are safe, but oh my! Banana shortage?! What a bummer!

And, HA! OnMyJourney, gotta love how these things happen. "Welp, guess that was lunch." :) Raw can be so easy when we are listening up -- which you clearly are!!!

Delise! That does sound like a lovely breakfast!! I keep meaning to make some almond milk and use some of my cacao for a nice banana chocolate milkshake. Tomorrow will be the day! No almonds, but I've got brazil nuts and am not afraid to use them!

Basenjimamma Snow and ice in Houston?!?! Yikes!! I'd never remember it's winter up there if I didn't come online. So strange to be sitting here with the breeze and the sunshine thinking of SNOW in TEXAS!!!

queenkel I feel you with the no caffeine!!!! When I got rid of it, it was so bad I thought I'd need to go to the hospital! lol! Glad to be offa that stuff, to say the least!:excited: I hope you feel better soon. Sending you a nice green smoothie via the 'net right now! :)

changeisgood - Holy smokes! Sounds like quite the GS!!!!!!!!!! If you could send ME some of that, I'd sure appreciate it!!

Hmm, so, food today was a monster salad with lots of okra and some other yummies, some bananas, several Brazil nuts, and surely something I'm missing because it's already 7:22 and I don't think I have space for dinner! I guess the Brazil nuts became my dinner? Strangest thing. Drinking more water because I've been a naughty girl as of late in the water department!

Wishing you all a lovely evening! :throwhearts:

Happy 4th day and the upcoming weekend. Too bad to hear about the banana issue! Wow I would notice that --I go thru a lot of bananas now. Funny before when I just ate them they had to be just right. Now I put them in my green smoothie and it doesn't matter how they look!! They can have all kinds of brown spots :encore:

Today'-- Green smoothie and apple cobbler
Lunch-- Salad
Dinner-- GS and apple cobber again

2 times of apple cobbler-- just felt like that again!! It is good too. :heart

Good Evening everyone!! Sounds like today went well. I got up early and did my workout, drinking lemon water along the way. Did well with my eating as well. Ended up with:
B: Fresh fruit smoothie with almond milk
S: Red grapes and a handful of nuts
D: Large salad with vinegar & olive oil. (We went out to eat, so I was happy the waitress at Shoneys offered me the salad bar at the reduced rate because I was only eating salad and cantaloupe! Then she went back and got me fresh strawberries, red grapes, and bananas; which were not on the salad bar. It was so good that the "sad food" the rest of my party was eating didn't even bother me.
Planning to make "Jicama" potatoless salad tomorrow~ which even my girls are excited about trying. Got the dates I was looking for and already made my cacao mousse for tomorrow!!!
We are talking about going to Nashville, so I will need to pack some fruit and nuts; not sure if they have any Raw restaurants out that way, but I think there is a Whole Foods nearby.

Increased the water today so I am certain to be up quite a bit tonight:excited:

Delise, OnMyJourney and Eva:

You bet I have been storing up bananas!! :dread: :dread: :dread: My freezer is filling up! Hopefully they freeze well, but its okay, even if they go a bit brown or turn to mush, they go into smoothies anyway..

Delise, I have never heard of plantains before, I had to do a google!
