Any members here in the military, doesn't matter which branch or have a raw vegan family member serving.

Im in the Army Reserves, my unit has been activated for deployment. Two weeks from now I have to take a two week Warrior Leadership Course, then eventually more active duty training this year including missing the entire summer, then we deploy in November. How did you or your family member stay on a 100% raw diet? I want to avoid eating MREs. I am 100 % now and I want to stay that way or close to it.

Thanks In Advance

The only suggestion I have is create your own army of support, folks back home who will dehydrate for you and ship goodies your way. Who knows, maybe some of them will convert to raw!!

I imagine when you're inside the wire there will be food options, my Army experiences with the Mess Hall (now known as "Dining Facility") was that they put out some really great food and good variety. Make friends with the cooks. But on missions or out in the field, MRE's will probably be it. When I was Army, if we wanted fun field food, we had to smuggle it with us (weren't "allowed" to bring our own food). That was pre-MRE's. C-rations were not fun. Anyone want to trade for ham 'n eggs? NOOOOOOOOOOOO. YUCK!!! Didn't even look/smell/taste like food when I was SAD.

So, get busy finding friends who love you!!! And get to know your cooks.

Hey - My husband is in the Army and I'm friends with a vegan Marine who just got back from Afghanistan. She's not raw but she's vegan and even that was so hard she couldn't really do it.

Good luck.

I hope you can make this work, I spent 13 years in the submarine service, needless to say raw couldn't be done. By the way thanks for wearing the uniform!!!

Deborah

I will purchase a food dehydrator. A portion of my food intake can be from that source and im sure they will have a salad bar in the chow hall stocked with fresh fruits and veggies and I can purchase some high quality supplements. I believe i will have a better plan before i leave.

I heard a story on the radio a month or so ago about how some branches of the armed forces have been making huge steps recently to provide better food. I think bigger changes were being made at basic training camps than out in the field though. I'm sure it will still be a challenge, but you may have more options available to you than there were in the past.

I believe you will too. Stay in touch. Remember, it's a journey, not a destination.

We need a saluting emoticon.

Consider yourself saluted.
