Hello all..its been a while since i've been on here. i've been almost raw but vegan for a while and in the last year and a half when i wasnt raw i noticed some bald spots and since then they have grown back..thanks to green smoothies everyday. but one side of my haid is way thinner than the other..and i have searched and searched online and read something on rosemary essential oils and olive oil and i did it and washed it out but my hair is all greasy. i've always had thick beautiful hair and its been so thin and brittle and its so depressing. all the sites that offer these essential oil remedies dont really explain how much to put in or how to get it out! im so confused. if anyone on here knows more about natural hair growth i would be so delighted to hear more about it!
when i was losing my hair i was 23 at the time and i went to the doctor to have all these test done and they siad my blodd was fine, no thyroid problems, that i was suffering from being completely healthy but maybe streesed out 6 months prior to the hair loss. i know stressing about it doesnt help but its hard. any help pleeeeassseee!! thanks in advance.

Are you getting enough calories. Hair loss can be caused by ketosis due to lack of calories.
It's not always related to diet... sometimes it is just stress. On a similar note, I have heard of people switching to the raw diet and dealing with hair loss in the first year until their body finished (well, mostly finished) with the biggest parts of detox...
Also check for iron deficiency and for impeded liver, thyroid and kidney functioning.

Could it be a form of alopecia? Did you go to a dermatologist?

That can be due to a stressful event in your life.

Absolutely! That's why I asked. Stress can do a number on a body.
My sister has alopecia and she's the biggest worrier I know (oops, I forgot my boyfriend's Mom-she's the biggest worrier I know!)

Poor Sweetheart! I'm pretty sure hair loss in and of itself is pretty stressful!
How about using the rosemary without the oil? How about using the oil and having a relaxing weekend at home without washing your hair or playing with putting your hair back with scarves.
Definitely go get some acupuncture for stress and blocked meridians. Please do that for yourself.
Are you putting a couple few stalks of celery in your smoothies? That's important. The natural sodium helps cell membranes to be more permeable and let nutrients in.
And seaweed, be generous with it. Your body will thank you for the bioavailable minerals.
Uneasy
Are you eating enough? Its a common problem for raw eaters to undereat. The food isn't as dense as cooked.
Did you have a lot of changes in your life when it started?
Take care, let us know how you're doing!

good advice above... not much I can add to it, but regarding your question on how to get out oils, shampoo is not really effective for removing olive or castor oil, but conditioner is, the oils in the conditioners dissolve the other oil much better. just make sure to find one that is free of crap, especially petroleums and silicones. cold pressed castor oil mixed with coconut, olive, or jojoba oil massaged into the scalp (nickle sized drop of castor with half dollar sized blob of other oil) will help circulation and will make the existing hair thicker temporarily. I usually massage the oils into my scalp (castor oil is sticky BTW!) smooth the rest onto damp hair and comb through, let sit for an hour or so, then massage a palmful of conditioner in and work through my scalp and hair, leave on for 5 minutes, massage a bit more, and rinse. works great! i do this once a week or so.
ALso, stay away from any shampoo with sodium laurel sufates, sulfites, etc. They are absolutely linked to hairloss.
