I just purchased a little - a very little bit. It smells beyond repulsive, and I'm afraid that anything I put it in will get overpowered by this horrible taste!
How do you guys work yours in?

This is why I stick with chlorella. Spirulina tastes better blended with avocado on it's own like a guacamole or in a soup. It also can be disguised in smoothies with other strong flavors. You can try adding it into to things a small amount as a time.

And I love it - When I lived in NY, I was able to get fresh Hawaiian spirulina. Now I live in the desert and it's no where to be found.
I used to smoothie it in just fresh o.j., now I add it to my GS.
I also love the smell. It does have a strong taste so just use a small amount to test the waters.
I don't care for the taste of spirulina (or chlorella), both in powdered form -- but I make what I refer to as my kamikaze every morning. It's got my powdered supplements and I add the 1 tsp. spirulina and 1 heaping tsp. (4 grams) chlorella to the mix. Shake it up, literally plug my nose and down it and follow it with a water chaser, unplug nose. It's not as bad tasting as when I had the MSM in there too - ugh. *Ü*

i put it in my tom juice blend... works great. :)
but i could literally sprinkle it ON tomatoes and love it. mmmmmm dirt. i love it. LOL (that's what my hubby calls it... and chlorella... dirt!)
I find it works well with banana. A level teaspoon in a smoothie of banana, young spinach, cocoa / carob, lucuma, vanilla powder and, if need be, 2 or 3 dates for sweetness. Some chocolate-mint leaves make it even better! This is one of my favorite desert-type smoothies.

I love chlorella tablets - I get mine from 'The Raw Food World'. I eat them like nuts and HAVE to have them every day. The spirulina is not that great tasting and I find myself not wanting it.
So, it's just crunchy chlorella tabs for me(for now) :)
Hello,
I have been eating spirulina for a long time now, and i remember i used to feel the same way like most of you who can not even stand the smell of it right now, I believe (specially if you are eating raw) the more alkalize your body gets the better sea algae tastes to the palette.
Or you just get used to the taste of spirulina by eating it more and more each day.
I suggest you to eat it on salads, with avocado, tomatoes and black peruvian olives. Just sprinkle half a tea spoon or make this amazing dressing with olive oil, lemon juice, garlic cloves, spirulina a handful cashews and blend into a creamy green dressing.
It really goes well with chocolate milkshakes!!!!!!
Oh btw the check out vivapura.net for spirulina chrunchies I first tried these at The Tree of Life, Arizona.Even people who had no idea what it was liked these :)
Hope you stat enjoying the taste of spirulina and stat putting it on everything soon :)

Thanks everybody. It looks like I will have to either make something tiny and throw it back, or try to hide it with chocolate. :woohoo:
My taste buds have greatly changed, but I don't think I will ever come close to enjoying it. I still cannot stomach much nori, and as a SAD eater I (tried and) hated everything that came from water since my birth. :P
