Hey everyone,

I have been 98% raw for the past 4 months. That 2% is sugar free gum (not everyday) and sometimes warm lemon water for cramps.

I've been experiencing the prickly itching, which people say is a symptom. I don't know though. I noticed the itching a couple months back when I was doing an Virgin Coconut Oil detox (6 table spoons a day). It was so bad I couldn't sleep on my bed and sofa (any material made it worse) so I stopped the detox and took apple cider vinegar, which knocked out the itching. The itching has now come back. I only feel the prickly itching when i'm wearing clothes (yes I walk around half naked in my apartment) or if I lay down on my bed. I've only started doing the green smoothies everyday for the past 2 weeks. Now I'm doing it as a detox to get rid of the itching because I felt like I was eating bad i.e raisins, Lara bars and for the past 2 weeks I've made a raw banana pecan cream pie (excluding coconut oil) every weekend. I'm aware that Lara bars aren't 100% raw.

The ingredients for the pie is: pecans, dates and banana's with a cherry on top.

I just ate a box of blueberries and the itching has stopped. Should I be on a blueberrie detox? I don't know. I just feel a bit lost and would like to get advice from people with the itchy experience.

By the way, I've been adding Stevia extract powder to my greens. Could that be causing the itching? But I've read good things about Stevia and replacing it with sugar.

It could very well be something in your diet, but have you considered your laundry detergent?

I don't believe it's that. I'm thinking it might be things that are high in sugar. I stopped taking hot showers because they would cause prickly itching too.

Hm, well, the best advice I can offer is to follow your intuition/body. If the blueberries help, eat the blueberries! I think I remember experiencing some discomfort when I first started consuming coconut oil, maybe try cutting back on that a bit?

i dont know what the itching means, but i agree with Shels, just do what makes you feel good and stop doing what makes you feel bad.

could be a long shot but you may have bed bugs...could also be related to an increase in niacin production which sounds like your symtoms so it may go away after a while as your body balances out.

Do you have any liver issues at all? Admittedly, my training is in midwifery but excessive itchiness puts up a pink (not red) flag regarding liver function. Cholestastis being one concern. Maybe google that and see if you have anything else that might be going on - bowel changes, yellowing skin, etc. There are numerous liver supports out there ranging from dandelion tinctures to teas.. but I think taking a good look at yourself is the best starting place just to be sure you haven't a more serious thing going on.
