I am so excited! I have been uncooking all day, at is great! I have flax crackers, banana chips, and banana chocolate chip almond cookies in the big D, and I made broccoli salad, and I am getting ready to make some jelly, and vanailla butter. Later I am going to make almond flaxseed burgers for dinner! I can't wait to try the cookies!!

What is everyone else making today.

Oh yeah I forgot I have wheat berries sprouting for some zucchini bread and apple muffins from LOLF.

It's an uncooking day for me too! I just made Spicy Refried Beans from Alissa's book--I loved them, as did my son and daughter!

I'm going to the store in a bit to get raisins and walnuts for her Date Nut Torte. Such a simple recipe, and I've never made it! Looking forward to trying it!

I'm also going to make veggie flatbread, sweet flatbread, and nut patties for next week.

I am LOVING raw this time around; it's easy and wonderful!

Oh yay!! I love this thread! Friday nights are my uncooking times! It's the perfect way for me to unwind from a looooooong, stressful week. I made bar-b-q kale chips, cheez its, cheezy kale chips, salt and vinegar zucchini chips and jalapeno burgers. I also made some banana ice cream, but a certain 12 year old, that I happen to love, ate most of it.:p

I'm sitting here with Alissa's (first) book in my lap trying to decide what I'd like to prepare today ...since I've decided that I will not leave my home or take off my pajama. :D

Wow - you all are doing great!!

I just made a quart+ of green juice (lemon ginger blast, Lou Corona recipe from YouTube) and will make a new recipe tonight, Thai Cole Slaw (by Brittany Bullen on YT). That's the extent of my un-cookin' for today ~ ~ *Ü*

I wish I could have stayed in my pj's all day! But with two children under the age of 5 it is a little hard!! Can you give me the recipe for your cheez its?

Lets try and keep this thread going. I love reading what people are eating! I can't wait until dinner....i just made my almond flaxseed burgers, i put them in the D but they really don't need to be but I wanted them a little warm, then I am having broccoli salad, and then cookies!

Trying, with two kids under five, you have the perfect excuse to stay in your pj's all day on a Saturday!

Just finished the date nut torte...sooo good! So rich! I am excited for my son to come home from work and try it! If I had not just made it myself, I would not have thought it was raw.

It's firming up a bit now, out in the garage, where it is currently 23 degrees.

I want to make my flatbreads, but my daughter (14) has a young male friend over and they are watching "How to Train Your Dragon." I already interrupted their movie to make the torte. As soon as he leaves, I'll get busy on those flatbreads.

Yes Renee so fun!! Can I tell you how awesome my dinner was! I can't seem to get my pics to post. But I made 2 Almond Flaxseed Burgers, they didn't call for dehydrating, but I did for almost 3 1/2hrs. so good!!! Then I had broccoli salad, and then some cookies that I made up for dessert! i am so full, but so satisfied!!

That smoothie that you talked about sounds delicious, I think I am going tohave that for lunch or breakfast tomorrow, but I have been stuck on eating over night oats! So yummy!!

I made the flax crackers, yummy!! What kind of dip/cheese do you recommand for me to make to put on it?

I am going to figure out what I am going to make tomorrow, I have one burger left over so I am definitely having that for dinner tomorrow night.:)

I have a 12 year old who's been in and out of the house all day...I refuse to step outside my door! :p ...though I did go out on the back porch when I realized she went out without her coat. hehehe

As for the cheez its, I use poleidopy's recipe, found in this thread. (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=57985) I can tell you that if you don't have tahini, it's no big deal. I realized that mine had expired  so I just left it out and it tasted the same as when I had used it in the past. Made some without Tahini last Friday night as well, still yummy. I included the jalapeno and it was extra yum city. lol With and without are GOOD though!!

I was supposed to be having avocado fries and a jalapeno burger with a little fresh salsa and avocado on top with lettuce leaves as the "bun" ...but I made a green smoothie (that was out of this world!!! ) and now I'm not hungry. Darn it! I wanted a "burger and fries" too! hahaha

Come on over!! I'm happy to share...but you'd better hurry before my daughter and her friends eat them all! :p They are super yummy!

I had some left over spicy (from using a whole jalapeno) marina sauce from the night before when I had zucchini pasta. To it, I added cumin, chili powder, 3 soaked medjool dates, and cayenne pepper. They are WONDERFUL!! Oh my goodness! I just decided to play around and use the sauce as a base since it was already in the fridge, and it turned out great! I'm so proud! :D

ETA: I also added paprika to the mix! I had forgotten that until I put the pics in my blog just now.

Onmyjourney what was in your green smoothie? I will make those cheez it's. I will check it out and see if I have the ingreidents on hand.

I should have stayed in my pj's all day, except they may have looked at me funny at my son's karate! LOL! It is so cold here, the high today was 17 and tomorrow I think the high will be 10!!

Has anyone made Baked Mac n Cheese by Matthew Kenney's? I want to try it, but just wondering how it taste?

I am done uncooking for tonight, not sure what I am going to do tomorrow. I know I have to make my jelly and my vanilla butter, didn't get to it today. I also need to see what else I have on hand to make. I think I will be making the granola from RFFE. If you haven't had it yet, delicious!

Till tomorrow and happy uncooking!

It's ironic that you mention Matthew's mac and cheese, I was JUST looking at that recipe on Thursday! I think I'll be trying it soon. :D

As for the smoothie, it was my regular recipe...but this time I made it the way I used to when I initially went raw. 2 hand fulls of kale, 2 small bananas (or 1 big one), 1/2 tsp of ground flax, 1 tablespoon of cacao powder with maca, a splash of almond milk and ice. To that I used to add a table spoon of coconut oil, but recently I've been using Artisan's coconut butter instead.

At my co-op yesterday I decided to get coconut oil (the plan is to try it in salad dressings rather than olive oil). Since I had it, I thought I'd make the smoothie the way I used to and use the oil rather than the butter. <= That's the difference the coconut oil made! I almost licked the VitaMix container to get it all out. :p It was LOVELY...now I have to figure out what I'm going to do with the rest of this coconut butter cause it surely won't be going back into my green smoothie! lol

I will have to try your smoothie!!

Today I have in my D some granola, I love Alissa's granola! I tried to make my own almond butter, but I don't think that my food processor is strong enough. Because after 20 minutes it wasn't anything buy almond meal. I will have to get a new food processor.

I only made a smoothie and green juice so far. Not sure what I am going to make for lunch!! Talk to everyone soon!

Decided to follow the lead of this thread and uncook all day today. Today I've made mac & cheeze, bagels, pizza crust, sweet potato chips, onion bread, coleslaw, "eggless" egg salad, cheeze sauce, and dried some tomatoes in the dehydrator. I'm whooped and ready for bed, but feel oh, so accomplished! :excited::banana:

I have this need for something SALTY!!!

Tried a few variations on a sweet potato chip recipe and they were okay, but I think this one is going to be goood! Hurry up and get crispy pleeease!
Made a marinade of some olive oil, apple cider vinegar, a bit of salt and lots of onion flakes.. left it in the fridge overnight...keeping my fingers crossed it will be good, they smell delicious anyway!
My absolute favourite which never makes it into a storage container and never makes it to even becoming dried out properly either :eat... lol...eggplant bacon.

My darling husband asked for some jerky so thats in there for him too, on the bottom racks so I don't get meaty drips on my veggies!

OOooh, would you be so kind as to share your eggless egg salad recipe? I've read reference to it several times, but haven't happened upon the recipe. Thanks!

Here's the recipe:

Eggless “egg” salad
Serves 4-6

˝ cup pure water (start with less add more)
Juice from one lemon or lime
1/4 tsp garlic
1 ˝ teaspoons sea salt
1 ˝ cups raw cashews
1 Tbsp organic yellow mustard or spicy mustard for a kick (I use mustard powder)
1 - 1 1/2 Tbsp dill (optional)
1 Tablespoon apple cider vinegar
Turmeric, as needed for color (approx. 1 teaspoon)

Place the water, lemon juice, garlic, sea salt and cashews in Vita Mix, and blend until very smooth.
Place mixture in a medium sized mixing bowl.
Stir in the mustard, apple cider vinegar, and turmeric until it reaches the color and flavor you desire.
You can add celery and red bell pepper.

Be careful as dill weed, which I use, is a salt substitute. When I add all the salt and dill, it is waaay too salty. Add a little at a time and taste. I also only make a half recipe, that way I can get it eaten up before getting tired of it. I liked this best in a wrap with tomatoes and avocados, but it was also good dropped in the middle of avos and eaten that way.

BeckyH - how do you make the almond flaxseed burgers - you mentioned they don't need a dehydrator - and I haven't gotten one yet.

These are so good!! Here is the recipe:
2 garlic cloves
1 cup of almonds
1/2cup of flaxseed
2tbsp of balsamic vinegar
2tbsp coconut oil
salt to taste
It says it makes 2 patties, but I usually make three.
You could also put it on the lowest setting of your oven if you wanted it to get slightly warm, for maybe a half hour or so. Hope you like it!

In my D right now is some pizza crust for tomorrow. i made mine thin, so I have a round one and a square one!:eat
