there sure is. stop eating them!!!

many people get extreme bloating/gas and tummy upset from eating these raw. i find that juicing them or marinating them helps tremendously. ;)

Reminds me of a joke, "Doc, it hurts when i do this" Doc~ "well stop doing that!"

LOL.

I thought there may have been a trick I was missing to preparing them. This is a huge bummer becasue the Onion bread has been a staple for me lately!

Body chemistry is different in each of us and not everyone (I for one) can tolerate raw garlic and onion. Listen to your body.

You're not alone. I can't do the garlic either (which is a bummer, because it sure adds a lot to raw cheese).

Maybe maybe if you chopped them up and froze them before use? Lol I have no idea.

I work on the side for a company that produces products (dips/spreads) made from raw garlic and sprouted chickpeas. I find that I go through major phases with garlic/onion. Just a while ago I ate a whole bunch of garlic pickled with raw ACV and felt fine.. few days later had the same with cayenne pepper and suddenly was out of balance.

But yeah, we all go through phases. Trying' to keep my yin balanced out with my yang food choices over this cold winter... bring on bring on the ginger and the cayenne and the garlic!! Feels good with the perfect amounts in moderation.
Anyway, before we know it the springtime cleansing period will be here and it'll be all about the tropical fruits, cherries, berries and along into the deep-green cleanse. Nice way to transition out of winter and into spring!!

I have been trying to learn more about yin and yang foods. I was very surprised at how cold I got after going raw. I have always been a warm person. My father is a natropathic doctor and is a master chinese herbalist so I have been picking his brain as much as I can, but he has very little time to teach me.

Is there somewhere that I can read more about this?

i found that over time... my body has gotten very comfy with being colder. i'm not nearly as cold as i was in that first year or two raw...

so patience is a big part of this.

I never react to chives, whereas with onions I might occasionally get a rumbling stomach. There's also a garlic chive (not really a chive as it has tougher, flat leaves)) which tastes just like garlic.

Have you just recently started eating raw? If so - maybe lay off the irritant foods for a while and give you body a chance to get used to digesting raw foods. You might find that after a month or so you can start to eat those foods again. But, saying that, if a food is an irritant to your digestive system, you should consider eating / not eating what feels right to you, instead of trying to eat foods you've been led to believe are right for you.

Could it be some sort of die off effect? I know garlic is very anti candida, so if one had any candida overgrowth it makes sense that they could have a reaction to garlic.

Climbing that actually makes a lot of sense, being I was eating a SAD foodie type diet high in sugar and grains. I have also been eating tons of onions becasue my kids have the flu and I do not want to get it! I am having a rought time introducing raw foods to them, and hopes of getting them healthier. So they are all sick rightnow. ;(

I can't really explain it but its like you know that people have different personality right so meaning different taste and stuff like that for example your mom is a vegetarian but your dad likes to eat only meat so imagine that if your dad start eating vegetables that he doesn't like while your mom starts eating meat that SHE doesn't like imagine what their faces would look like after they ate the food that they don't like....... descussting right..... same as your stomach your stomach only like to ingest cooked onions not raw ones.... so if you eat raw onions you can have that stomach pain after eating (http://stomachpainafter-eating.com/stomach-pain-after-eating/) you were saying....
so try to avoid eating raw onions but if you like eating them try taking it slowly until your stomach get use to the raw onions..
Hope it helps you .
