Hi all.

I found your forum while looking for raw recipes that did not use nuts, as I have been allergic to them since I was a child. Or should I say tree nuts, as I guess they use now because unless someone is allergic to nuts they seem to think peanuts are nuts when they are legumes. Anyway you had such a thread so I said this must be the raw food place for me!

I am 53 years old. We are retired and living in a motor home so we can travel, as we always said we would do. We have been fulltime in the motor home for 3 years and we love it. ( www.dragontraveler.blogspot.com ) But space is at a premium so I can't have all the gadgets I would want for this new way of eating. I love needle art crafts, currently into needle felting but have done cross stitch, beading etc. Trying to learn spindle spinning and weaving but have that space issue so no loom yet. About 3 months before we started full timing a neighborhood stray decided to adopt us. He is appears to be about 80% Maine Coon cat so he is large. Didn’t I say space was at a premium? Anyway we named him Orion (after the constellation as he is a giant and great hunter) and we named our motor home Orion’s Lair.

I weighed 206 before starting on raw food. Have been as high as 236. I have a heart condition called cardiomyopathy and have had one bypass operation. It is due to the heart condition that we retired for have a less stressful life. I also have asthma. And Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS) which I have found is aggravated by too much Vit C. And Plantar Fascitis for which I will be ever thankful for Z-coil shoes!

I am a food addict. I have no stop button in my brain when it comes to food. I have tried all kinds of diets, from metabolic shakes to WW. So far the raw diet is working for me because nothing is a comfort food nor is anything so yummy that I crave it. ( Except for pineapple that made the RLS go nuts). That may change as I try some of your recipes as they sound good. So far I have stuck to salads, fruit and green smoothies. I have found that the propane pilot light will act as a dehydrator (stays at 110 degrees) so I can now try some of the crackers and such. I am not trying for 100% raw, more like 80% but that 20% will be whole foods. I am trying to do vegan but may just stick to vegetarian. My husband is trying to add more raw but still consumes chicken and breads. But he has cut out all the processed sugar snacks. He is not an adventurous eater, especially with veggies. We are trying for set mealtimes with no eating except at those shared meal times (at least for me as it has evolved). I have lost 6 pounds since I started on Jan 1, 2011.

That is all I can think of to add at this moment. Probably more than you needed to know.
