Okay, I know this might be too much info for some. But I just have to ask. Since i have been going most raw I have really increased in the number of times I poo a day. I have gone from once every couple of days to atleast once a day sometimes twice.

So I was just curios, those of you who have been raw awhile, what's your average? :o

Me, too. was also IBS/constipated all the time - lived off laxatives and colon cleanses. Now I also go 4 - 6 times a day. I told my husband toilet paper consuption has risen!

Unfortunately, a couple of days ago I had something with ground nuts in it, and then I had one other thing with nuts forgetting, and didn't go for two days. So, I'll do a cleanse and get back on track. Boy, do I have to be careful!

poo is such a good topic. so many people talk about what goes IN their body but not what comes out. i figure the 'out' is almost more important than the 'in'!!!

i go 2-4 times a day. seldom less than twice unless i'm fasting. then i go about 3-5 times a week when i'm juice fasting and seldom when i'm water fasting.

Um, 2-6 per day depending on my diet at the time. The healthier (less sweets, nuts, desserts, fats) the more I release.

Changeisgood. Were the nuts you ate not soaked? Because as part of my raw diet I have been eating raw nuts. They are mostly soaked ones. I'm a newby at this raw thing so I am just wondering if there is something I don't know about or doing wrong.

Bananaberrie - you're doing is correctly.
I ate a raw bar from the health food store. and over the weekend I made my husband raw peach crumble so he could taste that there isn't much difference - I didn't soak the nuts (I forgot) and I was only giving the nuts to him, but a few accidently on purpose, came my way. So even though it was only a few nuts - mixed with the bar was too much for me.
And I have had problems with constipation my whole life - so it affacts me to the slightest touch.

To all, since we are on the subject - I listened to an interview Raw Divas did - Everything you always wanted to know about poop ..... it's quite informative. I haven't checked his information against anyone else yet since I only listened to it last night.

One thing that really caught my ear - our poop should be taking on the color of what we drink - juicing, blended salad - which I'm taking as smoothies, and salad. So apparently, I am still detoxing since it is only a month.
Time for an enema!

He mentioned the most important four things we should be doing - adequate water, raw juicing, raw salad - which should be 60% of our meals, and probiotics and digestive enzymes.

So, everyone, I'm wondering - what color your poop is? For you long term raw foodists - does your poop reflect what you had - green, red (beets), etc.

This from someone who has been obsessed with this topic all my life because of trying to heal this and become regular. Which raw smoothies and juicing, and salads are doing. And I MUST not give in to nuts! I have begun soaking my seeds, and have added chia and hemp seeds along with other stuff to fill its place. Any more ideas are welcome.

I'm about 2-4 times a day too... When I ate SAD, I would go once every 3 DAYS!!!! :o I'm SOOOO much happier now!!! :D

I read a kind of rule, you should poop as often as you put meals in your mouth, breakfast, lunch and dinner should be already 3 times pooping.

I sit on the throne 2-4 times a day.

2-4 times a day for me. I also noticed I am in and out of the bathroom so quickly though. Whereas before, it would take me a lot longer:o to go...

I don't even have time to read anymore!!:D

I found it interesting and she mentions that your poop should be a golden brown, and if it is green it could mean you have too much sugar in your body. But I sure green could also reflect the color of the food you consume. I have noticed that my ds who is 4 and if he visits his grandma or aunt will consume lots of carbs and sugar often will have green poop later so there is some truth to the sugar thing.

2-4 is pretty common for me.

More like 3 or more when 100% raw, and less when getting some SAD.


I recall some reading from Victoria Boutenko's website about poo color. She was saying that in the begining when you begin to drink green smoothies your poo will be the color of the smoothie. Something about there not being enough acid in the stomach like their should be because of a SAD and such a lack of greens. But as your body begins to get more greens it can handle em more because the stomach acid begins to increase back to where it should be. Then the color of the poo goes back to the brown.

Anyone here experience this? I'm gonna find out pretty soon for myself. ;)

Bananaberrie - recipie so simple and any fruit can be used, just pulse part of it so it can be poured over the solid fruit. I soak oat flakes which doesn't take long, I do it a couple of hours, I think even longer since I forget. Once it's done and I strain and wash, I add the cinn, agave, soaked raisins which can be with the fruit. dried coconut flakes in both the fruit and crumble. I added pecan pieces for my husband in with the crumble and then put it over the fruit. Hope I didn't leave anything out.

This is my first week raw, and I'm now only going once per day instead of twice, which is what I was doing on SAD. It's a much better experience now, but it's less often. My poo has changed and it's...almost fresh (I know that sounds weird), but I know that there is more in there that's not coming out.

Sorry for all the details, folks... :tmi:

I drink about 30 oz of green smoothie (water, fruit, spinach or other green) each day, eat lots of veggies all day, some raw sprouting seeds (1/4 cup or less), an avocado, some fruit+carrot juice, etc.

I don't like to eat fruit and so I juice it or blend it.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Will this just sort itself out as I continue to detox? Or should I be eating more fruit? I just don't like eating fruit that much...

1-2 times per day for me usually... first time is usually massive, second is smaller. If I oil pull at night, I will often go a third time, it's the strangest thing!

I am no where near going 2-4 times a day. I would be happy going once a day. What is up with me? I am thinking I need to do a colon cleanse, but can't right now because I am still nursing my youngest.

Any suggestions for clearing a clean path?

bananaberrie -- I NEVER go 4 times per day. About half of my days, I go ONCE. Mind you, it's easy, it's massive, I feel light both before and after. On about 1/3 of my days, I go TWICE. Only when I oil pull at night rather than just in the morning do I end up going a third time. You may be just fine as you are. I could swear to you that I have almost NOTHING in my colon other than my last meal or two... but still you don't see me in the loo to poo (hehe) 4 times a day...

Here are some thoughts:

Try oil pulling if you're not already. It is the craziest thing that it helps, but it helped me immensely with my skin and helps me to feel clean and clear in general.
Make sure to drink at LEAST a liter of green smoothies daily.
Drink enough water, more if you eat a lot of dehydrated foods.
Watch out for bananas, they can sometimes cause constipation if you have TOO MANY.
Have things like flax and okra to help you along.
Lastly, are you squatting to poo??


Isn't this a fun conversation. I think I'm gonna go eat some bananas now! :eat

I just found out that I like green smoothies so I can drink plenty of those. I would love to just eat fruits and veggies for a couple of days, but I just don't seem to feel full until I eat some nuts and seeds. Like today in the morning I had:
Juice for 1 apple 1/2 a pear, lemon and kale. Then I ate a whole grapefruit and the I have a green smoothie made from 2 apples, 1 banana and 3 hand fulls of spinach.

After i put my toddler down for a nap I was still hungry. I feel like the very hungry caterpillar. I finally gave up and had some raw sprouted wheat bread that I made and some almond milk. And since then I have been snacking on raw granola almost non stop. I finally feel full, hey maybe I'm ready to become a butterfly.:wuv The odd thing is I am a very petite person. Where is all this food going? My daughter only nurses a few times a day since she is umm....2 so it can't all be going to make milk...can it?

Anyway, I'll try drinking more green smoothies. And okra helps!? That is great to know since I am in the deep south and boy can my family grow some okra. Do you eat is raw?

Yes, okra is fabulous for bowel movements! Think, it's so sliiiimy, helps get ya moving! :)

Your lucky daughter is still breastfeeding! I hope to be able to offer myself up to my kids for a fair amount of time, if I ever have any that is! :)

Drink a lot of water, try not to eat too much fat. I would say something about fiber, but basically all raw food is packed with fiber, so you've probably got plenty. =] Exercise and stretching help as well.

I LOVE this conversation!!! Yea, I agree with Eva... Also, you can use your trash can to put your feet up to get a great elimination... Hey, great use for the can, huh? :)

hehe, so you're a squatter too! I like to lift the lid up and hold on tight to whatever I can find. Quite the comic relief actually, I get a laugh EVERY SINGLE TIME! (And I've been doing this for almost 4 years now... hahaha)
