Dr Mercola was on Dr Oz today talking about breakthrough supplements. One of the three supplements he spoke about was coconut oil. It seems it could prevent Alzheimers. He said in the study they used really really large doses of 3 tablespoons a day, lol, which at first I thought he was being funny because it isn't very much at all for any of us! He has info on his website about it if anyone is interested. He said for an adult 1-3 teaspoons is a typical dose.

I just wanted to share that because I think coconut oil and coconuts are one of the best things on earth and it's great to hear that studies are being done with positive results to prove it to the mainstream population. I use coconut oil every single day for salads and cookies, I use it as a moisturizer and a makeup remover and I also use it to moisturize my hair and scalp.

I have to go now and make some of Allissa's fudge balls and not feel the least bit guilty about taking my medicine, lol!!

That is very interesting. I love coconut oil. I have not yet encorporated a lot of it in my menu yet but it's gradually becoming a favorite. I also read in Alissa's new book that it helps with thyroid problems, and helps with weight loss.

I am curious to try coconut oil as a moisturizer. Most oils make my skin break out (or at least they did when I was a SAD eater). I'm willing to try. I love the smell, and taste. yum.

Thanks for the info.
