I bought a bag of Woodstock Farms Organic Wild Blueberries frozen. Does anybody know if frozen fruits are raw? Worried that maybe they Blanche them or expose them to heat before freezing. The company does not have contact info, just an email form. Thanks!!

I'm pretty sure they are not raw, but one advantage is that they are frozen at the height of their nutritional value... although how much of that is lost in the process is debatable. =]

I don't worry about them, they have never made me feel bad. Just follow your body.

I buy a brand that says frozen fresh on the label. I don't consider it alive.........but I'm not perfect yet.

Blueberries would be frozen in their raw state. If you blanch a blueberry, it would turn to mush. I think it would be safe to assume that frozen berries are okay.

I know that peaches are blanched before freezing. Besides peaches, I've only ever seen frozen berries, so I don't know about other fruits.

Yes, I'm pretty sure you cannot heat treat berries without them turning to mush. That said, I'm not sure what other processing they undertake to freeze them.

Yesterday I went and picked about a kilo (coupe of pounds) of raspberries fresh from the vine at a pick your own farm! I would have picked more but the weather has meant a less than ideal season. Much of these will be frozen. I often buy up big on the fresh stuff during the season and freeze it for out of season.

You could always email the company and ask them what they add and what the process is. It probably varies.
