Ever since grinding cloves in my blendtec it got all scratched up and turned an ugly opaque brown that's permanently stained in.
I noticed in new "will it blend" videos a new bigger (96oz), wider "WildSide" blender jar. I was lucky and found two (one for a friend) at $65 each on ebay.
This thing is amazing, I feel like I have a whole new blender! What I like about it is:
-Wider, not taller, so blender still fits under kitchen cabinets
-Longer blades to reach to the edges of new wider jar
-New angled "WideSide" 5th side helps push food back into the blades rather than turning around the edges
-New BPA free (my old jar was the ones with BPA)
-Finally a small inner lid to allow adding items while you blend (although the newer smaller jars also have this now)
-Most amazingly, the blender is about 5 times quieter with this new jar
I was afraid it wouldn't do well with small quantities but I made a mini 1 cup smoothie to test and it works fine. It will also work better with larger quantities because the wider design and longer blades means more food gets in the blades than the much slimmer standard jar.
Putting this new jar on a Blendtec is really like getting a whole new blender! Now that I know how good it is I have to say it's worth it even at full retail price.
