i had NO idea that those memory foam mattress pads off-gassed for 20 years! i was so surprised and shocked when i learned this.

so i started investigating a non-off-gassing alternative.

we found one! natura. once we found it a friend told us about the shopping channel and sears - both carry natura on their online stores.

we checked out prices and found that if we ordered directly from sears we'd save almost 50%!!! and it wasn't on sale... it's the regular price! so... mama got a new organic pillow and mama and daddy got a new king size mattress topper made of wool and cotton.

they arrive on the 20th. i can't wait to get rid of our off-gassing topper.

i wanted to share cause honestly... being raw and live... healthy and whole is all encompassing for me. i want to live to the cleanest, healthiest of my ability.

and this is just another step in that direction!

*dancing and twirling and being so happy about my decision*

I bought a natural latex mattress instead. I have had it for over a year now and I am very happy with it.
It has the added advantage of not containing any metal so therefore there is no build up of electro magnetism.

Most conventional products (building materials too) all around the house will offgas for years. Carpet is the worst!

Did you get it Aleesha? I need to get one or replace my mattress with a softer one to relieve aching hip muscles. Wondering how soft it is. Thanks

oh stina... it's like heaven!!! and it's not very thick... but oh wow it is ever comfy. my hubby and i feel it's more comfy than the off-gassing thick memory foam we had (from costco). AND our sheets fit was better now.

and my new organic wool pillow is heavenly too... it's so heavy and feels so good under my head. i've used memory foam shaped pillows to support my neck for years now... it took me two nights to get used to having that extra support gone but now i think i'm starting to sleep even better with it!

natura rocks my world!!!

and here's the pillow (http://www.naturaworld.com/pillow-organic-cloud).

LOL, I didn't even know what a mattress topper was, so had to look it up. I'm not a vegan and have no prob with it, but it's made out of wool, no?

This isn't totally related to mattress toppers, but I thought I'd share that I no longer use a mattress topper, or a mattress, or a bed, for that matter! ;) Yep, I discovered that sleeping on my 1970's thick shaggy carpet with a bed made of a couple of plush blankets is just as good as a bed, and gives me tons more rolling and stretching room! And in the morning, I simply fold up the blankets and have this huge amount of floor to enjoy. It's actually become a nice evening ritual of 'bedding down for the night', when I spread out my blankets again and bid adieu to the waking world to join the world of slumbers.

I find it interesting now how beds are so ingrained in society that it's a 'must'! As if it's the only option when sleeping. But, really, it's a relatively new 'invention'. A few centuries ago, it was maybe straw bales on wooden pallets, and before that, probably anything soft that could be slept on.

And if ever I move again, I'll no longer have to fret over finding a moving vehicle that can fit a mattress (a real pain a couple of years ago...!).

I would love to do that but would never get my very conventional husband to agree.
