Ear not popping

I was on a 12-hour flight last night and my left ear has still not popped 7 hours after landing. I've never had this happen--usually chewing, yawning, etc work fine. Any suggestions? I'm not keen to put anything in the ear if I can avoid it.

tilt your head up to the sky. hold your nose closed and gently push out the air from your lungs into your nose. keep it plugged for the air doesn't escape. you should get a nice pop.

be gentle though... don't blow like blowing your nose... just increase the pressure.
