Athletes from all over the world join in on the Ironman in May held in Hurricane and St. George (city I live in), UT.
There is a small group of raw foodies. And a decent market (Harmens) for organic fruit/veggies and Natural Grocer for other stuff.
If anyone will be here - let me know, in case you need info about area.
We also have a marathon and bike races (extreme).
St. George is also a beautiful place to visit - Zion National Park in Springdale (cute village) and Bryce Nat'l Park and Grand Canyon aren't too far away. In St. George we have Snow Canyon Park.
Good for beginner hikers and for the climbers many areas (but be careful, unfortunately because people don't know the terrrain, there are a few deaths a year, sometimes more during the season) to investigate. Also ATV'g is big here.
As you come from Las Vegas to St. George - you will travel thru an amazing Gorge, absolutely breath taking. Awesome. There is alot of pre-historic history here.
And, of course, a chance to meet people from all over the world.
