I have a super cheap blender! Should I attempt to make a green smoothie? I don't want mega green chunks!

I've been making smoothies these past few days using the blender I had on hand. I don't know if it's super cheap but it's definatley no vitamix.

First I take the greens and put em in the blender. If it's kale or collards or swiss chard I'll basically remove most all of the stem from the leaf. The stem goes to the compost pile. The spinach I just put it all in there. Then I put in about a cup or so of water. I pulse it a little bit, then push it back down into the blades with a wooden spoon. Then pulse it again. Push it back into the blades. Then after doing that a few times I can just let it blend and it'll get it all nice and blended.

Then I add my fruits and put it on blend again till it's all nice and blended.

It doesn't turn out super chunky. But there are bits in there. Like yesterday there were still grape skins. But from what I could tell the greens were nice and blended.

Are there specific fruits that go best with certain greens?
And, thank you, for explaining it. I think of it as the same way I used to make pesto.

I think it's just whatever tastes you prefer on the fruit. I mainly stick with bananas. Usually freeze them for using in my smoothies.

Thank you Fast Freedom, because of your explanation I had the geatest green smoothie I have made since I started awhile back. It turned out very delicious, nice and thick. I did the Kale and spinach and escarole together. Then added strawberries and blueberries. And it was soooo good. I would have had more for later in the AM but my husband drank it!

Now I know why some spole have more than one smoothie each day or make enough to last thru most of the day.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow's smoothie and will get on the band wagon and have more then one.

I'll have to use mango in place of banana (I can't eat bananas), it has a bit of a strong taste, but so far it's all I know.
