Before anything goes down, i'm new here, so go easy on me.

Well, I started sprouting some lentils about a day ago and the tails are about the same length of the bean now. Based on the guides I've been reading, they're about ready to eat; but I am kinda paranoid about doing so, since I remember I tried sprouting wheat berries separate times for eating and rejuvelac, and all the times they turned out smelling iffy.

So what are the chances of getting sick after eating the lentil sprouts, not counting the reaction my body would have after first eating raw sprouts?

lentil sprouts are awesome! Super safe and very good for you, AND economical! They were the first thing I sprouted, and I was amazed at how easy it was. The water takes care of the lentil enzyme inhibitors so that the sprouts are easy to digest. Think about the fact that the lentil tails are actual living things, so that when you eat them, you are eating life! :) I personally eat them in this salad concoction of arugula, tart apples, dried cranberries, and a squeeze of lime.

Hey there. I am still only a few months into my raw journey and no expert by any means, but I have been sprouting lentils (both the dark gray "french" variety and the pale green kind) for about a month now. I let them grow until they are pretty long, and get the first of the little leaves on them. Not sure if this is correct or not but they taste good that way and I have never gotten sick from them. I've never eaten them when they are as short as yours are.

As Stella said, you are eating life when you eat them! And also they seem to be very digestible for me and this means a lot coming from someone with a ten year autoimmune disease/leaky gut history. I have a hard time digesting ANY sort of cooked bean or lentil without a lot of gas and pain so if the sprouted digest comfortably for me they must be really healthy.

But yeah, if I were you I'd sprout them a few days more. It has always worked for me that way. :)

Btw, lentils are an excellent source of vegan protein.

Rejuvalec does smell funky. Freshly sprouted lentils shouldn't. If you're concerned about how your body will like them, just have a few in a salad and see how it goes.
