Pre run for a 5k I usually eat nothing. Most 5k do not offer any water during the race but some I have done do. If you are well hydrated you will not need any water or coconut water for the 3.1. However, if you ever do a longer race you will. After the 5k , most races usually serve bananas, oranges and bagels. I always grab the banana. Get something in you immeditly afterwards for recovery. During training I usually eat tons of greens, green smoothies, and apples and bananas. Basically raw fruits and veggies. Bananas are fantastic for leg cramps. I never run without them. Good luck.

Good luck!! I would have to agree with everything that rawpromise said! There is also a protein mix that Alissa sells on her site, called Sun Warrior Protein. I hear that it is great, and I am going to order some. I usually always have a protein shake after my run. It has the mix, spinach, banana, strawberry, coconut oil it is so good! Of course you can't do that after your race, but it is good if you are going to continue training. Best of Luck! When is your run?

I just recently ran a 8 mile run and had a green smoothie in my vita-mix like 2 hours before the race. I ran the race in 72 minutes.

No, no. you guys. My race isn't until April 23rd. I am training for it now. Is there foods I should eat while training to help me have endurance and stamina? I want to fuel my body right.

I run 10k 2x/w and pre run I take 1/2 banana, three dates and half a tea spoon of coconut oil. Post run I eat the remaining 1/2 banana with some almonds (both replenish your electrolytes).
