Hi, my fellow raw mates :-)
Last time I posted anything was about three months ago, when I had fallen off my raw diet (keep in mind, I was still eating about 80-90% raw).
My biggest push for eating this way has been to clear up my skin. I got off birth control pills a year ago because I didn't want such poison in my system, and my skin is STILL terrible due to hormonal changes. I started the pills for obvious reasons (wink, wink) and even though I had occasional pimples, my skin was altogether not that bad at all. Now, it's absolutely horrific. It improved dramatically during the summer when I was eating almost 100% raw and was stress-free, out in the sun and getting exercise. Now it's so bad even foundation can't cover the bumps and redness.
I wanted to hear from women who perhaps had a similar experience to mine. At this point, I feel like I will never have the beautiful skin I've had before, and it sucks that at the point in my life when I am truly the healthiest, my skin is at its worst. Could it be that birth control pills (I was on them for two years, since I was 19 and I will be 22 in a month) have permanently damaged my hormones? Is it possible to have clear skin again? I've lost all hope and it hurts so bad. I eat pretty healthy (raw) majority of the time, and usually "mess up" when I want dark chocolate, nonorganic dried fruit, roasted nori sheets and soups. So I don't even know what to do anymore. I've contemplated crawling in a hole and never coming out again, but I've got to live :-)
Honestly, personal success stories/similar experiences/tips and advice/words of encouragement, ANYTHING..will really help.
Thank you so much...oh, and I am sooooo grateful that I've found this community, love you guys!

Have you cleansed your liver yet..?

Your liver is the chemistry lab of the body, and that includes many hormones. If your liver function is impeded, it'll struggle to adjust levels of the various chemicals in the body, or to detoxify or break down those that are not needed..

I was on the pill for 13 years straight ~ until my liver hemorraghed. (sp)

It took about 3 years for most of the effects to go away. My skin is absolutely clear. Have patience; eat the best diet you can; stay away from sodas, chocolate and other things that contribute to bad skin... it'll happen.

Rawssian,

I was on birth control for several years, including the super strong depo provera shot that even wipes out the menstrual cycle.

Four years ago, just after I went raw, I swore off all medications when I got rid of coffee and cooking.

The very first time my husband and I ever tried (well, he tried, it was a surprise for me) to make a baby, I got pregnant. And my skin is super clear. Previous to being preggers obviously, my periods were PERFECT -- light, easy, no headaches, no period pimples.

There are some detailed tips for good skin here (http://uncooking101.com/site/article/article-detailed-tips-for-good-skin/). Give it time, do your best, you WILL get it all worked out! Your body WANTS to get rid of the bad stuff. It likes you. It's a thing bodies have for the people living in them.

Here are a few of my "before" pictures (https://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2024665&id=1105024410&l=2a7b5972f9) and a "now" photo (https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=30963176&l=5a5c5c08c7&id=1105024410) just because I don't have an "after" album.

Green smoothies will help sooo much, raw is totally amazing, and like Arky and Revvell say (two people I totally trust), maybe do a liver cleanse but for sure have patience!

Thank you for your response!
No I've never had a liver cleanse...I don't even know how to go about that.
What does a liver cleanse entail I do, exactly?
