I think my dehydrator gets way too hot. I dehydrated some crackers that were ready in 3 hours flat and they were hot to the touch when they came out. I am very new about this RAW food thing, just on my Second day:) but it seems like it shouldn't get hot? It dosen't have a temperature gauge and its a Back to Basics brand if that helps. I am thinking of starting to dehydrate in the sun instead, would this be better? I can't afford a new dehydrator.

Can you return it? It dries at 135 degrees. There is no temp gauge to change it on this model. http://www.dehydratorbook.com/back-to-basics-dehydrator.html

Thanks for your help! Should I avoid using it and would sun drying be an acceptable alternative?

I am awaiting my tax return so I can get a good blender and now a new dehydrator.

I had one like this before, i used a digital thermometer to monitor the temperature and it was over 125°F, so i just donated to salvation army.

It should take longer to dehydrate.
