I have numerous skin diseases and was wondering which fasts I should go on that will help improve the skin? My skin is soft but I have all different types of skin diseases..
I read somewhere that you would have perfect skin if your stomach was perfectly alkaline, is this true? Or should I see a doctor..because i have rosacea, keratosis pilarisis, acne scars, rolling scars, indents, scarred pores, flushing, half mole/half raised white scar, lots of moles, freckles, a curling iron burn, arm and back acne scars.
I have been raw for over a year but it doesn't seem to be helping my skin other than getting rid of acne. So I'm looking into fasting. If anyone knows if fasting can cure skin diseases please let me know. thanks :(

skin brushing will help tremendously and juice fasting will definitely help you. focus on my greens in your juices... that doesn't mean it has to be all green... just try to have greens in every juice you make.

Hey! Last year I had the most terrible eczema (had it all my life, but it was really bad this time). I had been doing some acupuncture and it was helping more than anything ever had, but I kept having horrible flare ups.
I went on a 20 day juice fast and I now have ZERO eczema. I have had it since I can remember, at least 20 years. So, yes, by all means, it can help!
Here's some before and after pics, beware, the before is really GROSS! Also note, this pic is after a lot of acupuncture, so it actually looks a lot better than it did. You can see my dry brush in the second pic, haha.

Wowwww, AMAZING results!
Quick question for you? Was that your first fast, the 20 day one? I have only done shorter fasts, I can't seem to get past 4 days because I have to go back to work and I work a very physical job. I'm wondering if you ever tried a shorter fast that didn't clear your eczema, but the 20 day fast did. When did you notice it clearing?

Thanks guys for the compliments! I'm so relieved to have it gone!
Well, I did do a couple of shorter fasts before that one. One for five days and one for three days. On the long fast, I had loads of energy after about day 4, I had no problem at work (but I was not at a very active job).
I was having horrible break outs throughout the fast until about day 18-20 when it started to clear up. It continued to clear up after I broke the fast. Now it just gets kind of itchy and dry in the winter, but I'd say that's pretty common for everyone!

Skin brushing on damaged skin is a bad idea. It may start off okay but after a while you'll find yourself constantly brushing because the itching has gotten worse. Hot showers are a bad idea too.

Agreed, I didn't do it on the damaged skin, I just used it for lymph drainage/circulation stimulation.

Fasting actually helped me with my acne. I was fasting because my doctor told me I had a polyp in my cervix. Well, at the end of my 7day fast I noticed my skin started clearing up plus I lost 8lbs :)

Amazing. I know how it feels, mine is flaring up almost as bad as yours in the before picture. I was planning on doing a 20 day water fast, but I believe you have convinced me to do a 20 day juice fast. How much did it cost to do a 20 juice fast? And what produce did you use?

Lilly, I'd be inclined to see a dermatologist just to be on the safe side especially because of the moles.
I have them too and I get them checked now and again to make sure they haven't morphed into the cancerous kind.
I have another skin condition too and while meds help it, I'm hoping to do even more with diet.

If I were to do it again (which I hope to), I would do water if I wasn't working. The juice really allowed me to do it while working. I know a lot of people water fast and work, but I just couldn't do it. But, honestly, I didn't juice much at all, I just did some whenever I felt like it, which wasn't too often. I would juice maybe half a bunch of grapes in the morning and maybe some tomatoes and peppers in the evening (I have now read that those foods can really exacerbate eczema, so I might not do that again). I did wheatgrass now and again. But really, it was so cheap since I dilute everything 50/50 and didn't juice much at all. I would seriously consider getting some acupuncture. Even one treatment helped me so much! The fast really just flushed it all out.
