Welcome welcome welcome!!!

Welcome to the 30 day challenge.

If you haven't already... please take a moment to read the posting rules/guidelines (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/announcement.php?a=3) of this section. Thanks!

Welcome to the Monthly Raw Challenge!

We're excited about this new area of the forum that is specifically for those of you who are eager to commit to a month of eating 100% raw foods and seeing miraculous results!

WE (one of the moderators) will start a new challenge thread on the first of every month.

We want the focus of these monthly challenge threads to be on staying raw and accountability. Therefore, if you have eaten all raw and then slip up and have something cooked, we don’t want you to beat yourself up over it or dwell on it, but this is not space to discuss it. You are more than welcome to document it in your journal/blog or ask for help in the discussion area, but it is not necessary (and not allowed) to discuss your slip-up here in the challenge threads, just get right back on track and keep going!

In the event that you feel you are not quite ready to fully commit to the challenge and you find yourself having slip-ups often, then please join us again during the following month. Of course you are still more than welcome to participate on other parts of the forum, but we would really like to keep this section dedicated to those who are committed to doing 30 days 100% raw.

Peace, Blessings and Warmest Regards,

Cherie

G'day everyone!

The energy levels are getting better today, so hopefully that initial detox drain is a thing of the past!

Breakfast, (or breaky as we call it here) was a green smoothie with some spinach, banana and a tired-looking plum which was better off in the smoothie ;-)
Then as I felt hungry, had more of the smoothie left over, so didn't really have a specific time for mealtimes, just had something whenever I felt hungry.
Later, chopped up a small coconut, had coconut milk and some coconut meat, then corn on the cob, and a small salad.

Have a lovely day all!

Good morning! I'm starting day 3 off with a smoothie (kale, spinach, banana, papaya, cranberry). I've also made extra to take with me for lunch.

I'm loving the feeling of freshness in the food that I'm eating! :D

Everybody have an inspiring day! Talk to you later....

Good morning all!!

FASTFREEDOM: Before I had a VM, I used a regular blender. The trick (I think) to getting your greens blended down is to put your greens in the blender first with your water and blend for a minute or so...they liquify much easier!

Yesterday I had my refried beans (they were soooo good), guacamole, pico de gallo.

Sunflower refried beans:
about 1 cup of sunflower seeds (I soaked them for about 2-3 hours, but I don't think it's necessary, if you don't soak them, add MORE water to the FP or blender)
about 1/4 cup of olive oil, I would add this a few TBS at a time as you blend and taste as you go!!
taco seasoning (cumin, chili powder, tiny bit of cayenne)
a few pinches of sea salt
I just dumped this in my VM and blended away. I think the olive oil helped to make the sunflower seeds taste really savory like beans!!

THEN for DINNER: sliced bananas w/ almond butter. I felt like I was cheating!!! My family had pizza, one of my favorites, so I NEEDED to eat something that was a TREAT for me...and the banana/almond butter combo hit the spot, so my point it, GIVE YOURSELF RAW TREATS WHEN YOU NEED THEM, especially when you feel those cravings....make sure you have something in the pantry that you can make a treat with....for me, real soon, I have to purchase either carob or cacao....coconut flakes....for me adding these with some dates or honey and making "truffles" are my treat! I can also make a bunch and store them for when I NEED them.

TODAY'S PLAN:
chopped apple, banana, raisins, walnuts, cinnamon yummmmmm
lunch: ??? probably a nice, fat GS
dinner: leftover sunflower "beans" and more guac. and pico!!! yummmm. looking forward to eating everything today!!

tvillemom - thanks for the tip. :D I'll try just the blender this afternoon. That'll keep me from needing to wash two appliances.

Morning all. Evening some. ;) LOL

Plans so far today are to finish the rest of my GS from yesterday, some time this morning. Eat more spirulina and chlorella. Make another green smoothie sometime probably in the afternoon. Most likely have some guac... Maybe some kiwi... Definately a few dates.......cabbage? I dunno really, I'll have to wait and see what's calling to me. :)

But I'll definately be drinking some GS's. They make me feel awesome getting all those greens in me.

I am on day 5 this morning and I feel great. So far I have lost EIGHT pounds and I feel lighter already. I was feeling so heavy and weighed down before, but even after I eat, I feel light still which is a huge plus. I have been having green smoothies everyday, and I have a high fruit diet. I have delicious lemon and orange trees in my backyard at the sober living that I live at, so I feel blessed for that. I've been loving dates with almond butter and lots of pineapple!

Hello.
It's my 6th day on raw. From yesterday I have this headaches (I never had any in my life) - especially after meals.
Could it be from the diet?
Some kind of detox?
(it's the first time in years, when I have so many fruits and vegetables)

My food plan changed so...so far today I've had:
banana w/ almond butter
leftover sunfried beans (really just sunflower seeds)
pico de gallo
Dinner will probably be a GS w/ barleymax powder, spinach, tomato, celery, cucumber, hemp seeds, flax seeds, avo, dulse.....I think that's about it. Some olive oil I am sure so it will give it that savory flavor.....or yeah, sea salt and chili powder/cayenne too maybe some jalepeno to help with some HEAT!!!

Peace

Yes, Little wolf, sounds like detox! Keep drinking lots of water, be aware of proper food combining and don't give up, there's a light st the end of the tunnel!

Smoothie this am (frozen raspberries, spinach & banana)

Made raw tacos for lunch (avocado, tomato & nut pate on butter lettuce leaves), but I think I went too soon on solid foods for my poor throat. I can barely swallow now.

Back to smoothies only for me.

Today is day 1 for me, starting this challenge as well as the 21 day vegan challenge. Raw is a bigger challenge for me than vegan. :) Tomorrow I am joining TOPS and will officially weigh-in. I plan to be vegan for a year, I can't promise I will be raw for that year.. but definitely very high raw.

Today I had

2 bananas
raw sushi - Yum , this is always my favorite
collard greens with cauliflower and other veggies

Raw Cream of "wheat" lol -it really is like a peanut butter smoothie but to me it tasted just like cream of wheat. I soaked sunflower seeds for a little over 24 hours. I then blended that with some almond milk, 2 dates and some peanut butter. I blended it in my bullet blender so it was still a bit coarse which I think is why it made me think of cream of wheat. To me it didnt taste like peanut butter, I think it just added the right type of toasty nutty flavor that remind of wheat.

Hello lovelies..
There are so many of us doing this for January, it is wonderful.. Glad to see you all in it :)
Today is my day 2, I went 3 days off after the December challenge, but i'm back on it.
And i'll just say that... those 3 days off of raw, had me feeling just as horribly depressed and stuffy/constipated as ever. Ick!! I truly appreciate this raw day, detox and all! In it for the long haul baby!

I just ate the most delicious cantaloupe I have ever eaten, ever! And I don't even like cantaloupe. It tasted sweet and dark like a papaya, with hints of eggnog/pumpkin pie flavors. I think I know the market that I'll be shopping at from now on!

Morning: Pear, banana, romaine mint smoothie
snack: romaine lettuce
Lunch: Ginormous salad w/ avocado dressing
Snack: banana spinach smoothie
dinner: 1 cantaloupe

Today for me was detoxy again, very weak and irritable until that cantaloupe which has given me the amazing power of feeling amazing

I made it thru the day with the menu I wrote this AM, but felt hungry thru day so I grazed on fruit, clems, orange, pear.
I'm amazed at how little some of you are eating - no snacks in between meals. Will I get to that point?
In the meantime, I am at the beginning of a miracle. Hope this isn't TMI - but all my life I had IBS/constipation. I always needed a laxative, colon cleanses, etc to the point if I even look at a bottle of it I gag. Soooooo, for the first time in ages, more then ages, I had a small constitution all on its own. This is the answer to my prayer before being led to eating raw food. I am so happy, I'm elated!
I notice I have noisey toots that seem to decide to come out when I'm not even aware they are there! Good thing we didn't have clients in our office! But no bloating or heavyness, All gone!!
I am in awe of the changes, I'm loving this, I'm finally eating the way I want!

Also, I don't read anyone having carrots in their diets.
[B Is that off limits?. [/B]
I really enjoy carrots, apple, beets, kale, spinach, romaine, lemon, sometimes add in grapefruit and oranges.

I was so hungry this evening. Almost gave in and ordered some SAD food. I am soooo happy that I didn't.

What I ended up doing was making a big GS made of almost a whole bunch of spinach, about 1 cup of water, then 2 oranges, 1 banana, and some grapes. Soo good and it feels so amazing in my body still. ahhhhhhhh. LOL I can tell that my body will thrive and be so happy at me to feed it a minimum of one quart of gs per day. Time to start growing the wheatgrass again. I have a 50lb sack of organic hard wheat exactly for that purpose.:)

I just finished watching "The Beautiful Truth". Simply an awesome movie. :D And it was so nice to have drank that gs right before watching the film.

Hey Change is good, go to town on those carrots! I love them grated on my salads. Today I used a vege peeler and made long ribbons , it was a lovely topping on my salad. I often munch on carrots while I stand preparing food. Sometimes I juice carrots and use it as a base for a raw soup with avocado and cilantro and seasonings. And for real fun, I occasionally fast and eat a carrot the next day to cleanse the intestines, what a surprise awaits you in the toliet!

Very grateful to have eaten all raw today.

I make a big salad and keep it in the fridge. I use shredded carrots all the time, at least till the bag runs out, then I'll use the whole ones back in jucing.

Left my lunch on the counter. Made me upset b/c it was a big salad and leftover jicima fries. Finally went to grocery store on break and bought bananas and some dates. Grabbed some jicima and avocado while there.

So, around lunchtime I had 2 bananas and around 4-5 I had more banana and a few dates that were pretty good.

Had my lunch that I found back in fridge at home. Then, I added in an avocado with s/p. I had a leftover piece of blueberry cheesecake- eh, not so great. I think the stuff in it, specifically agave nectar gave me a stomach ache, so prob. won't buy again. Just now, I had some more of the salad from the fridge and put away my soaking chia for tomorrow am's strawberry something smoothy.

Completely tired. Slept about 90 minutes last night so I couldn't do anything but yawn on the way home. Too tired to have been driving at all!
