Welcome welcome welcome!!!

Welcome to the 30 day challenge.

If you haven't already... please take a moment to read the posting rules/guidelines (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/announcement.php?a=3) of this section. Thanks!

Welcome to the Monthly Raw Challenge!

We're excited about this new area of the forum that is specifically for those of you who are eager to commit to a month of eating 100% raw foods and seeing miraculous results!

WE (one of the moderators) will start a new challenge thread on the first of every month.

We want the focus of these monthly challenge threads to be on staying raw and accountability. Therefore, if you have eaten all raw and then slip up and have something cooked, we don’t want you to beat yourself up over it or dwell on it, but this is not space to discuss it. You are more than welcome to document it in your journal/blog or ask for help in the discussion area, but it is not necessary (and not allowed) to discuss your slip-up here in the challenge threads, just get right back on track and keep going!

In the event that you feel you are not quite ready to fully commit to the challenge and you find yourself having slip-ups often, then please join us again during the following month. Of course you are still more than welcome to participate on other parts of the forum, but we would really like to keep this section dedicated to those who are committed to doing 30 days 100% raw.

Peace, Blessings and Warmest Regards,

Cherie

Its early evening here in Australia, and here goes with my raw challenge day 2: No cravings whatsoever!

Green smoothie with spinach, bananas and a touch of raw honey (even my husband had some.. *gasp of disbelief!*)

Veggie juice in between, and a handful of dates

Late lunch.. nori rolls with sprouts, avocado, cucumber, carrot, they were so delicious, had so many...don't think I could possibly eat anything else today..

If hungry later, will have an apple or something

I would like to welcome everybody to this month challange and wish everybody all the luck.

I'm in day 7 of my juice fasting and so far I'm doing well and feel great.

The juice I make is from Spinach, Celery, Cucumber, Carrot, Tomato, Parsley and lemon.

Maybe the combination sound not that nice but to be true it taste not to bad.

I take this 3 times a day and the reason that I mix these vegetables that I know I can get as much different vitamines etc. in my body at ones and do not have much missing.

So far I do great and I lost already 7KG in the past 7 days and I do not even have much over-weight I'm 1.83m and my weight now is 78.4, if I continue loose weight like this I will be very slim at the end of my 40 Day fast

Enjoy this month's event.

Good morning all! It's so strange, and lovely to see posts from people on the other side of the WORLD and know they are already done with day 2! I do not have a plan yet for the whole day, but I think I am going to look for a recipe for "refried beans", I think there is one that uses sunflower seeds...and then make some guacamole, and pico de gallo and have it all ready for LUNCH because my family will be eating tacos. I have a recipe for walnut "meat" but I know it uses Braggs or Nama Shoyu and I don't have either.

Anyway, today will be great....
breakfast will be clementines, I am LOVING them right now
then: (hopefully) refried beans, guacamole, pico de gallo....wish I had some romaine leaves or something "wrap" like but I don't have that either!!! It will be all pretty plated up though, so no worries!!
Dinner: ????? Probably a GS with some tomato, alittle avo, spinach, carrot, celery, cucumber....oh yeah, I have the ingredients to make a cucumber/mint salad that I found in another book...it has jalepenos, mint, cucumbers....it sounded yummy, so I might make that early and let the flavors merry during the day!! I've never had anything with mint in it and this just sounded yummy. I guess I could have the cucumber salad w/ a GS...leftovers are always great the next day!!

Peace to you all, best of luck with your meals!!!

tvillemom - you could slice some cucumbers and use em as chips to eat the guac. I've also read of guac boats, it's where you slice a cucumber lengthwise, scoop out the seeds and then fill em with guacaomole. Actually I think I'll give that one a try today.:D I have tons of guac left.

Good morning, "for me", and good evening for some others. ;)

Last night I didn't sleep that great. I think it was some detox or some parasites not liking the change. I just finished a 30 day humaworm about 2 weeks ago. But I was seeing those floaties in my vision the other day. I saw small dots and some squgglies. :( I think I'm gonna get me a zapper or make one to help clear em out. I haven't checked yet, but I was wondering if last night was a full moon. Sheesh I didn't get very much productive sleep last night.

I think I'm gonna eat me some pomegranates for breakfast. :D

I'm also gonna try to make a green smoothie with my food processor. At least I'm gonna use the fp to get the greens really broken down then I might use the blender.

Hi all,

I started my day with water with lemon and then had greens thru the juicer - spinach, carrots, beets, ornage and grapefruit after exercising.

I'll be making a seet potato cassarole with walnuts for lunch

I'll have a fruit dinner and probably a slice of sprouted bread.

If it changes, I'll write in at end of day.

Plenty of water thru day and I add my supplements to my food

I'm smoothie-ing again today.

Breakfast was berries, banana, carrot tops, hemp seeds

will likely eat up the rest of my pate from yesterday...providing my throat can take it.

If I wasn't pregnant, I'd so fast today on nothing but coconut water today. :D It's one of those gray, hazy, chilly days where nothing sounds better than fasting, really.

So far today, a few sips of Green Smoothie, a few sips of water. It's Farmer's Market day and I'm planning on making a Corn Tomato Casserole for late lunch for the household.

We're also still in the process of moving, so will be making lots of trips to the new place with car loads of boxes... hooray! Can't wait to set up Baby Boy's nursery. :)

Can't believe Day 2 is almost over.

What did I ever do before I had green smoothies in my life??? A litre in the morning keeps me going for ages and I haven't had any bad cravings either. I added hemp protein powder and some green powder too.

I made raw sushi with parsnip rice and put sliced red and yellow peppers (capsicums), spring onions (scallions) and carrots in the middle - sooo good with a dipping sauce. Couldn't find any ripe avocadoes so missed out a bit there but in England in December, imported goods are not always reliable or ready to eat.

I love reading how everyone else is doing too.

Made a few changes in order of meals.
Since I was inspired by other postings, I changed lunch to a fruit salad so I could go shopping for all my fruits and veggies.
So, for dinner I will have the sweet potato casserole
and I'll probably have kiwi later in the evening with enough time after dinner to digest.

For the recipe:

Soak either pecans or walnuts overnight and then lay out to dry.3/4 C
In the processor - sweet potato-2C, half of the nuts, dates1/4C, cinn, and vanilla 1/2 teaspoon each.
Put into a casserole dish.
Mix remaining nuts with honey or agave and 1/8 teaspoon salt, and sprinkle over casserole.
Can eat room temp or frigerate

Slept late. Last day of break before school starts again. Not looking forward to it as much as I love teaching....

All I made today was a strawberry smoothie. Threw in frozen grapes that I had baggied in the freezer. I think maybe 3 chunks of frozen mango and a spoon of honey and chia seeds. I am hungry, but have nothing all that fun in the house. I think I am going ot head to the store. I wish there was one here that made raw salad dressing that I liked. I want something creamy or some kind of dip, but nuts are expensive. I think I'll check out Whole Foods if they are still open. I woke up too late for the Farmers' Market so I missed getting my flax crackers.

I ordered a blender last night so I can chop greens better. Hopefully, soon I will have better luck with those. I think I will get some kale and make another salad tonight.

Went to the store. Came back with some truffles and raw peach cheesecake. It was really sweet but the truffles were really good. Saved the wrapper and will replicate both. Made some jicima chilli cheese "fries" and put some away for work for tmrw. Also, made a big salad for lunch for tmrw and dinner when I get home. Def. need more jicima and zucchini or squash.

Woke up had some guac.

I had 3 pomegranates around 2. Ate a few dates.....

I made my first green smoothie today. It was pretty good. I used 2 banana's, 1 apple, 1 pear, large amount of kale, a bit of parsley, and some water. Got the recipe from the 70 smoothies recipe page.

And after I finished it I went outside and felt amazing.:D Actually I have about 2 cups of it left in the fridge which I'll drink in the morning.

Then a little later I ate 10 grams of spirulina and 5 grams of chlorella. Then I had some more guac.

That was my day of eating. Good day and I feel gooooood.:D

Today was another energizing day..

AM: I was "backed-up" from new years eve greasy slice ( starting with a p and shaped like a triangle).

I mixed 32oz lukewarm filtered water with 8tbsp of Braggs ACV. Got things moving for 4 hours. Then, i chew on two cloves of garlic-read it helps with reflourishing natural flora (and took super colon cleanse which helps with that too.) I lost about 3lbs...literally. Made me feel queasy, but needed to be done.

By Lunch- Green Smoothie- 2 1/2 cups spinach, frozen berries, 1/4 avocado, tbsp. flax meal, cup microgreens, fresh squeeze ojfrom 2 oranges, and filtered water. it was so yummy. My plant gets to eat the rinsed remains from the blender..lol

I also save some of the left over water (12oz) to sip on as a homemade version of "mineral water"

Snack- chocolate cashew larabar and 12oz water.

Dinner: huge salad with tomatoes, shredded carrots, flax meal, avocado, 2 1/2 cups romaine lettuce, cucumbers, and raisins. I didn't "feel" full, but it it's been about 2 1/2 hours and I'm not hungry. This is a sensation I have to get used to. Not feeling full, yet body is nourished and hydrated. Followed up with 12 oz. water about an hour later.

day 2 great....off to bed. Since I work tomorrow (Day 3), I may take a smoothie, larabar, and apple for lunch/snack so I don't have to carry much.

I'm like a human compost pile. I ate a big box of blueberries for breakfast, a couple of hours later two bananas, four oranges, later two mangoes, then a big salad. I had a bit of a detox headache but I know the trick is to eat lots of fruit to keep my energy up.

I need to get on the ball and make some salad dressings. Think I'll check up a raw ranch dressing.

Blessings my raw friends! I take the time to read every post on the thread and my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I'm new to RAW, but I started yesterday. This morning I noticed that my joints didn't hurt like they usually did in the mornings, which be the ripe old age of 31 was never a fun experience.

This morning I had a cup of Chamomile tea (umm I don't know if this counts as raw, I drank it after it had cooled with some raw honey though. )

I made pumpkin seed balls and had a couple of those before church. Funny my kids ate them too (the rest of my family is still on a 1/2 SAD diet and 1/2 organic, My DH and I battle this) So I was happy they liked them.

Lunch was bad news, MIL who is the SADest diet eater of them all with full blown uncontrolled diabetes came over with fast food for Sunday dinner. I didn't know what to do because she gets easily offended so I ate it and paid dearly for it later.

Dinner was better I had some "crackers" I made with onion and flax and sprouted buckwheat flour, and those were yummy, along with some bean sprouts.

See you all tomorrow!

Forgot to post earlier, but here I am!

Was hungrier today than yesterday. Food for the day:
2 apples, cherries, grapes, cucumber slices with guacamole (1 avocado, 1 tomato, sea salt and pepper), Alissa's papaya and banana pudding, 4 raw fudge balls, coconut water, and... I think thats it.
Experienced a slight headache for a little while, but it went away. Cravings stronger today. I have peed so much today! I guess its the excess water???

Im already feeling a bit better, and usually when I go to bed, I fall right to sleep, but tonight Im feeling energized so I had to get up! My breathing doesnt feel as labored. My nose doesnt feel as stuffy. And my ankles arent swollen. YAY! All this after just one day on raw. Amazing. I love it!

I accidentally posted on the wrong day for yesterday so...
Sunday:
"Doing great. Had some apples and grapes this morning. Did some Kundalini yoga and then just finished a sandwich of Italian wrap bread, avocado, tomato, and sprouts and then more grapes. Going to make raw Lasagna today for dinner. Feeling great. A little bit irritable though."

Monday: I had some weird gastrointestinal issues yesterday. I had no energy and didn't make the lasagna. Instead, I had some raspberry angel-food cake and then a salad for dinner. I am planning to make the lasagna today.

Both those sweet potato and mint-jalapeño-cucumber salad sound great! Would love the mint salad recipe if you end up liking it.

This morning I had 4 small bananas. I didn't feel like anything too complex after a hard night of running to the toilet. Feeling much better now but a little tired.

Lunch was Italian wrap bread and avocado, tomato, sprouts and hot sauce.

I still have to make granola and eggplant bacon. Hoping I get some energy soon so I can get everything done.
