So, last year Raw eating seemed to get away for me most of the year.....lots of starts & stops......like many here - I will restart my Raw journey (starting on Monday for me - 100% cold-turkey - mock of course...lol..)......along with going back to Raw I would like to add more movement into my weeks......it seems eating cooked not only makes me less "moveable" in my skin, but it also zaps my motivation to do anything!!!
So, I will be teaching/doing my 2 yoga classes per week Tues/Thurs as always & I would like to add at least 2 more days of yoga in.....one of them at a studio & one, or more at home......as the pounds melt off (like they ALWAYS do with Raw) it makes me WANT to move more, because I can appreciate the moves & they actually feel good - not painful!! ;)
Eventually this year I would like to try another go at P90X.....I only made it about 3 weeks into the program 1 1/2 yrs ago when I had been 100% Raw......I need to get my stamina back first, because it will really kick your butt!! :p

Happy New Year Monk!!!
Definitely Looking forward to 2011!!!
You can do it!! You'll turn into a Super Raw Yoga Woman before you know it!! :D
And P90X eventually? Oooh yeah!! Right on!! :)
hmmmmm...... resolutions...... okay here it is!!
I wanna be in the best shape I have ever been in my life and maintain it from there for life. See muscles in places I never seen before.
And have sprouting become my regular routine since it's super good for the body, health, and mind.
And do a research and store info in a binder that exercising is really good for the brain and makes it easy for one to be really mentally focused/smart.

Lots of starts and stops for me too.. But I'm on the right track right now. I got a stationary bike for Christmas from my dear mother. I'm so thankful because it's about 15 degrees in Chicago!
:rolleyes
I'm going to start out by doing 20 minutes on the bike either in the morning or evening (3-5x a week)... then gradually I'll go for longer.
I wish everyone great movement in January (and the rest of '11)

I'm working on increasing my activity-that was my goal to implement after my last MC. I found 3 friends to be workout buddies one night a week each. A couple months went well. Not too much happened in December, and one friend has had a work schedule change and can't do evenings anymore. For 2011 I'd like to be more regular, and less dependent on my friend's schedules.
Friday nights are cardio kickboxing class. It's pretty intense, but fun. Monday or Tuesday I walk with my sister in law if the weather's good, or we do a workout video or game. I got some wii fitness games. Unfortunately, my favorite one so far - Gold's Gym Cardio Workout is one player only. I did that the other night, and my arms were so sore! I did it again last night. I'm getting better at kicking my hubby out from sleeping in front of the TV so I can do a workout.

Workout buddies can be very motivating until we get to the point you're talking about .....being independent!!
I wish you all the motivation you need to venture out on your own & it already sounds like you are at home!! ......go sleep in your bed hubby! :p

Hello and Happy new MOVIN' year 2011! :D
I'm a little late but definitely here. Took some time off work and wanted to be a little disconnected. Soooooooo 2-0-1-1 it is! I'm following my same routine (a little less weightlifting, a lot more pilates, yoga) and incorporating Tai chi and anything else that interest me. This is the year to experiment with the things and for me personally to do workouts that incorporate my body's natural movements. I also want to get out and walk as much as I can. Even if it is freezing out. I can use some fresh air. ;)
Monk: That's what I'm talking about!!!! :D *hugs* Let me know when you do P90x I would love to do that with you. 100% RAW!!! That's what I'm talking about, Monk! WELCOME BACK!
whoa-raw Right on! You got this! Being raw and incorporating movement is taking it to the next level. It is absolutely the BEST feeling in the world. You feel your body healing and becoming strong and healthy all at the same time. Best of luck, I'm sure things will work wonderfully for you this year!
BlackKat So awesome! Are you doing just a steady pace or something with intensity? Getting a bike is something on our list. :)
siennagray Nice! Looks like you're on the right track. Wooo Hooo!
Keep on Movin, Rawbies!
*hugs*

I bought a treadmill months ago, but I am actually using it now! LOL I've been walking and jogging every day for the past week or so.
I just ordered P90X and will give it my best shot when it arrives. But for now, my goal is run 3 miles non-stop. But for now...baby steps.
Keep moving everyone!

I was off today so I was able to do a 30 minute jog on my treadmill twice today. I am going to push myself to do at least 45 minutes by the end of the week! :)

Forgot to post yesterday...
Tuesday 1/4/11~Taught/did my 1hr yoga class - First class of the New Year - I had 17 members show up - only 4 people were new - the rest were "regulars" - so nice to see familiar faces again (new ones too)~:o
As I was in pigeon pose I thought to myself "Ahhh this feels so good & when my belly shrinks - it will feel even better!"......gotta love RAW YOGA!!!

Sun 1/2 ~ did cardio fitness on the wii - first a boxing series, and it had me do squats for the first time - if I didn't go low enough, it didn't count them. That made me very sore! Followed up with a short wii yoga routine.
Tue 1/4~ did weight watchers cardio & dance video with my sis-in-law. It seemed much easier than the last time we did it, which is a great sign.

I did 45 minutes alternating between brisk walking and running on the treadmill today!
My P90X CDs came today! :)
I TRIED to do the first workout... I didn't actually do much of it, I just walked in place when I couldn't do the moves (which was most of the time) but hey, it was another 50 minutes of walking in place. That's something!
Keep up the good work everyone!

Delise~ I too want to start walking a lot again, the cold is giving me cabin fever. I may have to invest in a good winter hat/face mask. We can always layer layer layer.
My stationary bike is awesome. I have no idea why I waited so long to get one. And now I actually have the energy to stay on it for more than 10 minutes! haha! I am starting out light. Only doing about 20-30 minute workouts. Yesterday I did 20 minutes and today 30. There are about 15 intensity levels and I basically am sticking to level 1 and 2 for a week or so. I may up it later. ;)
I am hoping to work up to 45 mins to an hour of biking 3-4 times a week. Everyday would be amazing if my work schedule permits.
Good luck everyone on this day!

Just wanted to chime in ...I have actually been moving lately. Last year I spent every afternoon at the nursing home with my grandmother. She passed away on 30 December. Now I have to make some new routines for myself and getting back in shape is one.
I was doing Yoga Booty Ballet and during the yoga portion when you move down to Caturnaga (hovering above the floor on palms and toes like a plank) I could not hold the position and had to just go directly into upward facing dog. Wow I am so weak. But not for long...
I have Barry's Boot Camp that I am working on too.
Yesterday I did 35 minutes on the trampoline. Euphoric. I was lovin' it.
I will start my 5 week part time job at the bookkeeping service this Saturday so I won't work out much. Well I will do lots of bends, squats, file lifting etc. That will count for something! Keep on moving ya'll.

I'd like to join this thread if you don't mind. I want to get moving again. I wasn't doing much since the fall came and I couldn't go for my daily walks. Rebounding was out of the question most days with my blood pressure being lower (I was doing an extended fast)... so now that I'm not fasting at the moment... I'm rebounding again.
Tonight: 15 minutes - my lower back was sore so I sat for 10 minutes and then did another 5 minutes.
I hope to meet or beat that tomorrow!

I'll join in, you're all so motivated, it will be a good reminder.
I use my stationery bike atleast 4 x/week. I'm doing it a few years now and do it for atleast 1 hr. Great place to read, since I fall asleep reading anywhere else. When my husband joins me, we'll watch Atlantis or some other show that is captivating. Before we know it, 45 min have gone by.
Unfortunately, I am limited to what I can do otherwise due to a bad disc problem and surgery on my miniscus. I've tried everything, even a private coach, and my back goes out. All it takes is one wrong move and opps, there's no going back. To the PT I go. I got to the point I an do the work he did on myself and has had it come in handy many times.
It bothers me since I was at the gym every day on the machines. I was a racewalker, and hiked 15 miles at a time, even ran up mountains. Atleast when I worked as a nurse, we clocked it, and we did 10 - 12 miles a shift 3 - 4 X/week.
My husband and I do lawncare for some of our owners(we're property mgrs) so mowing seems to work okay as long as I have the handle at a certain level and the mower is light.
My goals for the year, accept myself. When I turned 56, I went into a depression since my looks and body changed. The lack of exercise didn't help. I feel like mush. I had to totally re-invent myself, its taken 1 1/2 years so far, and I'm slowly getting there. I woke up oneday and my whole life changed.
So, I hope this is the place for me. Atleaset I have my stationery bike designed for people with injuries.

Welcome Aleesha, good to hear you're movin' again:p
DawnD~ yoga booty ballet sounds like a lot of fun, never heard of it before!
Changeisgood~ wow, that's awesome that you did such a variety of things. and hour the stationary bike is amazing! I'm only do 30 minutes... but I like a little challenge.
Today was back to work for me after 3 glorious days off. Good thing about that is I was on my feet for 8 hours. Walking around, lifting things up to 40 pounds for people. I noticed that I need to be careful to make sure I am getting enough fluids while at work. I got a headache today and thought it was because I wasn't eating enough but I gulped some water and I was really just thirty from all the movement.
Bike for 30 minutes tonight. I am going to start encorporating some weights in to my routine. I have a bench set in my basement along with plenty of dumbells.

Blaque~ That's a great way to get in some exercise at work. It's the little things that you add, that really count and make a difference. Like parking far away in the parking lot of a market or store and walking those extra steps. Good for you.
Today I did 50 minutes on the bike! yay. and some more shoveling on the back porch. My doggie needs a path to go do her thing. Haha.

I had work at 4am this morning for a truck delivery. BIG TRUCK. Which means lots of lifting and lots of lots of moving (mostly 40 pound bags of dog food, cat litter, etc). I am going to be Soooo sore tomorrrow but all day I was thinkin'... this is good for me. I had tons of energy though for the full 8 hour shift.

Monk~ Driving home tonight from work and the car temp said 8 degrees. You're a bit colder than I am up there, here in Chicago it's so windy too! And tomorrow morning it supposed to be in the double-digit negatives too with the wind chill. BRrrrrr. Those yoga clients are very dedicated, that's for sure.
Greatful to have the day off tomorrow. I am going to try and do bike for 1 hour, and some pilates/yoga in the afternoon. Won't be going anywhere because of the cold, so i'll probably spend way too much time on RFT when I could be getting things done... heheheheee:p

I do have some, but by the time I got home my head hurt so bad - the last thing I wanted to do was "movement" :(
So glad to hear P90X is still rockin' your world, Whoa!!!!

This morning the temp says -11, with a windchill of -28 below zero, right now..... .....hoping my car starts - it sits outside......
BlackKat - you know what COLD is like too!!!
I'm chilled to the bone right now.....drinking some morning chai tea~
Enjoy your day off!!!
Try doing things in 15min time frames, if you want to get "other" things done!! ;)

I was going to go shopping today for some new work out clothes, but way too cold. I only made it out to Whole Foods and came right home to the warm house!!
Bike 1 hour
20 minutes of pilates (my core muscles need some work:o)
Thank God for a warm house tonight and the I Love Lucy complete collection.

Yay! You're back! This is why I need to try yoga... what a wonderful way to start your day.
This weekend didn't have as much movement as I wanted, but life throws some things in your way and you have to deal with them
Back on the bike today for 40 minutes. The days are getting longer... (jumps for joy)

Had a no-so-good day yesterday as far as food choices, but a good day in exercise. I did 1 and 1/2 hours on my bike and took the dog for 2 walks.
Today I will probably only be able to do about 30 minutes bike, and a walk for the dog (it's her birthday today:heart)
It's actually above 30 degrees so I might even try to go for a longer walk this evening.
