Hi everyone. I just joined the board today after finding it while searching google for information about raw food. I am a 38-year-old married mom with 2 boys living in North Carolina. I'm trying to find out more about raw food because I have been ill (severe allergies, chronic pain, etc.) for several years now and I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. I am also morbidly obese, so I'm hoping that following a raw food diet will not only help me to feel better but will also help me to drop some much needed weight. Any advice from you raw food veterans is definitely welcome. Thanks for having me and I look forward to getting to know everyone better as well as learning how to reclaim my health.
:)

my number one piece of advice to you is this:

start drinking green smoothies every day. have one for breakfast and if you can... have another before dinner. it'll REALLY help you gain health and release weight!

That is great advice! That is what I did when I first went raw. I had green smoothies everyday, at least twice a day. sometimes I would for three times a day. Then I went online and googled all kinds of books on raw, and checked them out from my local library, and then I just "uncooked".

By far this is the past place to be when just starting out. You will get an answer to any and all of your questions. The people on here are so knowledagable on everything under the sun. Just ask and you will get an answer. Just do what feels good and taste good to you in the beginning. Because when I first started "uncooking" there were some foods that I didn't like and I stopped, but know I haven't had anything that I don't like.

Also know that your body is going to go thru some form of detox because you are changing the way you eat, and in the beginning your body won't like it so much and then your body will begin to crave all the raw foods!!

HAVE FUN and ENJOY YOUR JOURNEY!! IT IS AN AWESOME RIDE!!:)

Welcome welcome! I echo the fact that this is a great forum and you will get wonderful support here. I know that I am!! I have been raw only since August. There have been some bumps in the road but it is a fantastic journey. There is a 30 day challenge group on here--I'm doing that. People on there usually tell what they are eating--I get some great ideas. I also echo the drinking green smoothies-- I have started to drink 2 glasses a day. I have bounced around with special raw meals to just plain and simple. I have found that I mostly just like the plain and simple. Again, welcome and we'll all support and help you thru your new journey.
