Whatever he wants that's raw and healthy. I'd google to see what's NOT healthy for him. Too much fruit might make him poo a bit more than you (or he) would like.

What about cacao nibs? They're more or less nuts right?

I have no idea! As I said "Google is your friend"... google and see if African Greys can eat cacao nibs. Cacao nibs weren't even around when I had birds. Just remember, what birds in your area eat may not be good for Greys. Not they're natural food from whence they came...

Hi, i have parrots and one of them is an African Grey. Birds can not eat cacao...no chocolate! Also they can not have avocados. A parrots diet consists of vegetables, fruits, grains, nuts and seeds. Greys can have a few nuts a week and not a lot due to the fat content. Almonds are a good nut for Greys due to the vitamin C content.

I would give them just about anything you eat raw wise cept like what was already said never Chocolate or Avacado's.
I have ALOT of birds,6 parrots and 10 of the small variety.I went to walmart and bought those little glass dishes used for dipping sauces.I give them treats in them in the morning and then at night I take them out if they are mushy ,so they wont spoil. If im eating a salad or makeing smoothie they love the rinds and fleshy parts of the raw goodies added.
Also a big health thing for birds is to make sure thier water is always clean and I also do drops of vitamins in thier water.I slacked off the vitamins for awile and I had a lovebird get sick during that time, started using the vitamins again and she looks great now. Also I try to shave calcium mineral blocks into thier food,(specially if your grey is female this will help)they are cheap and you know they are eating it when its shaved into the food.I just take a knief and shread it over a fresh bowl of seed.
A real good supplement is egg shells, its so good for them, you can make it your self by crushing them into lil chips or buy a container from a bird place..sooo good for them.
If they were in the wild they would forge on all kind of things,Ive even gave them on special occasions meal worms,an its funny how picky they are like people, none of my Quakers will touch a peanut but the other Parrots tear em up.So some stuff will depend on its taste buds :)
I am now researching the benifits of apple cider vinagar for birds, they say in tiny tiny amounts it can do wonders for thier health. But like Revvell said Google is your friend........ Research before you do anything to make sure its right for your baby :D

Definitely no chocolate. Any pet, not just birds, should never have chocolate! Theobromine which is in chocolate is poisonous to animals at a much lower amount than it is to humans. Chocolate is actually toxic to humans, but you'd have to eat 1 kg before something really bad happens. :)
Avocado is very toxic to birds, more so than chocolate I believe.
Birds need a good variety of foods in their diet. They should be fed seed, a good pellet, veggies and fruit. With a bigger bird such as an African Grey, it's better to reduce the amount of seed you feed him and increase the amount of pellets. Seeds don't have enough nutritional value to them and they are quite fattening, unless they are sprouted. A lot of people sprout seeds/nuts for their birds and it's a very good idea to do so. In which case, then of course it would be ok to feed more sprouts than pellets. :)

Ditto on the avocado. That is BIG no no for birds.
AG's are tropical so they will probably do well on any fresh nuts and seeds with variety of fruits, etc. Birds are very eclectic in their taste and need for variety. They are also sensitive to texture and shape.
