I want to create a new recipe that kind of mocks a cooked version that has been passed down in my family....well at least in taste...most likely not looks. I am looking to create a poppy seed filling that is like that of kolaches.
Has anyone seen or heard of anything? It is usually cooked with milk and sugar and I am not sure how important it is to cook a poppy seed mixture. I know that it is cooked until it thickens.
In any case, I was thinking some dates and perhaps hemp milk with some ground chia seed for thickening. i am also trying to make this a nut free desert. There are not nearly enough of those as far as I am concerned. :-)
Thanks for any ideas.
