does anyone know where I can find really raw yerba mate?

I found Rain Tree yerba mate powder which is raw but I can't find any other.

I know there is a difference between Green/unsmoked yerba mate and traditional/smoked yerba mate, but even green/unsmoked can be steamed at times.

Air dried is good...non-steamed also required. Mendomate.com sells air dried.

edit: well some distributers sell Rain Tree yerba mate cheaper. 1 lb at the website costs 25 american bucks but in some others it costs only 13. Well on sale anyways.

YES!!!

I just found some. 100 percent Real Raw Organic Yerba mate from Earth Shift products. I ordered from earthshiftproducts.com.
I really like it, have been drinking it for about 2 weeks now.

really? That's great!

I believe Mendomate.com also has raw yerba mate at least, that's how it seemed when I calld them. Did you call EarthShift?

I love Truly Raw yerba mate.

I soak mine in water over night and it's good. That's what I did with RainTree nutritional's brand. It's also good if you just eat it, in fact many in South America prefer to just eat it.

It says on the packet that it is Raw. All of their products are of the highest quality. I really like everything I have bought from them

nice! thank you. After telling me I bought 5 lbs at wholesale price. Cheap...

Anyways. I like the taste and texture of Mendo Mate better. The EarthShift product does not contain the stems/sticks and powder that Mendo Mate has which makes it TONS better when made in the traditional way .. it makes it smoother and with a really good almost malty/milky-creamyish/dry smooth/ultra-fine powdered taste. Like I can definitely see this tasting heavenly with coconut milk but just by itself it already has the taste as if milk was added. A small bit of Coconut Secret's coconut sap can also be a good addition.

The way it is traditionally made with a gourd and with the metal filter straw does that. It is considered very important to tilt the gourd to one side and shaking side to side a little bit to bring the larger stems to the top, and leaving the pile tilted to the side and inserting the straw crossing into the line of the pile and also to pour the water slowly into the side of the gourd the metal where the metal straw is resting on the top inner side of the gourd. This leaves most of the yerba mate on the surface dry, which preserves fresh flavor and prevents bitterness, giving it an almost malty texture... and with Warmed (not hot or even hot enough to denature) water it produces foam. Its a truly unique way to make an herbal beverage.

It is divine.... Gives you a feeling of being in the woods, the earthy flavor of dry green leaf taste. Gives u the feeling of being social just like a ritual like its done traditionally around a party of two or more people in the middle of the forest or woods.

you dont even have to soak it for long, it should be drunken immediately just like mate made with hot water has to be drunken immediately.. otherwise it gets bitter and you dont want that.

The ratio is about 4-6 tablespoons per 8 oz of water.
