Hi! I am Kathy. I am 38 and am over weight most of my life and need to change things. So I have been looking around the net for diets that dont include meat, bread, sugar and other additives and this forum popped up.
I suffer from pre diabetes, PCOS, Menorrhagia, lack of energy, focus and infertility. I am here looking for a cure to my addiction and illnesses.

I believe this way of eating can help your body to heal. When you put healthy food, i.e. more raw greens, vegetables and fruit, you can't help but to repair your body. Just think of all the healthy nutruients you are putting in your body compared to the normal diet of nutrient deficient food. Soon you will crave the fresh food and your body will tell you when you put something bad in it. Cooked and processed food deadens your own internal gauge of what is good for you. Be prepared for some detox symptoms though...that's just your body's way of getting rid of the toxins in your body.
Good luck!

Welcome Kathy--good name --that is my name too! :) I've been raw since August--with a couple of bumps in the road. This is a great forum--very supportive and helpful people.

Hi Kathy. Just want to share a story with you. My daughter is 25 and she was told that she had PCOS. She was told that she would need meds to get pregnant if at all. She was living with me earlier this year and started eating mostly raw food. She lost 30 lbs in about 6 weeks and looked beautiful. She got married in Sept and they didn't use birth control because the all-knowing doctor told her that she couldn't get pregnant. Well she is 6 weeks pregnant now and I am going to be a Grandmother! HooRay!!
I told her that she should have been on birth control (I didn't know that she wasn't using birth control) because she healed her body with raw food so that she could get pregnant.

Hi Green Bee,
Your list of ailments looks like my list of ailments! Have you ever done any mini-raw challenges (e.g. 3, 7, 14 days)? I don't think they're necessary to start a full raw lifestyle, but it's the path that I took. I used to use a 3-7 day raw feast to stop periods of Menorrhagia. To this date, the doctors refuse to accept that the diet had any relation to the stopping of the bleeding!! Being raw, and getting a book on natural family planning (because it teaches you how to know your hormones better) have been the only thing that has given me relief.
But, now I've gone full raw to try and heal these things completely and make them only a part of my history.
I hope to see you around the boards more. Take care.
