hi there!

do you know how dates are processesd before they go to market? If they are considered dried fruit, then how are they dried? If some friut is blanched, are dates, also? Is there such a thing as a "Fresh" date as opposed to a dried one? If so, whats the difference? I've never picked a date off the tree before, so I wouldn't know the difference if there was one! :)

Easy way to ruin a date with me is to order a big steak at the restaurant. :)

I think dates are naturally dried on the tree before they drop.

I agree. BUT at my health food store they are fresh and must stay refrigerator, but those packaged already and in regular grocery stores I believe are NOT raw and if they just say dried, my opinion is that they put it at as high heat to dry them to make it go faster....stupid industry lol.

You can find fresh dates and they are different then dried. So much yummier.

The Date people are a commonly used online source.

I have placed an order with the date people. Very nice on the phone. The guy said that it is just him and his wife who run the farm. So it seems to me that he has to spend a lot of time picking.

But he seems to love it. I know I would love it if I could have a farm. To sell just enough food to cover my food expenses. That would be awesome.
